  • now thays a fucking house

  • Nice concept.. idea within each shot is great, pity the filming wasn't of a better quality.. mean though. LOVE THIS SONG!! Peace xo

  • ça me donne des Frissons !!!!

  • Magnifique musique, magnifique paysage!!

  • Beautiful song !! And beautiful place of corse !! Love Eddie ;DD

  • This song makes me want to drive the Dalton Highway with a side trip to find the magic bus.

  • this song is just makeing me wanna go out and cry out like a wolf does :D

  • This song, for whatever reason, was painful for me watching the movie because I knew he was *spoiler alert* going to meet his demise on this journey. The context in which they played this song--with Emile Hirsch standing solitary on a mountain-- would normally be a scene of triumph. In this film, however, knowing this wilderness was going to kill him--it was just heartbreaking. The song is more like a funeral march to me.

  • not sure why but this takes my breathe way! bloody brilliant

  • Beautiful place, haunting music...

  • bellissimo!!!

  • Although very short i love this tune, will take it with me on my mp3 when im travelling on foot too.

    Cheers,

    Kai

    justkai.com

  • ohhhh very niceee grettings from chile

  • good video

  • as an irishman i fuckin hate the cowardly pretentious french. Go to donegal and you'll get more spiritualism than any fruity south french shit. its real, not hollywooded up.

  • @liverpool8376 As your fellow Irishman I can tell you you're a xenophobic sham.

  • Nobody could put this song with real images used in the movie?

  • Haunting...beautiful...peaceful...

  • un drogue cette chanson quelle éffé

  • damn that man have a voice !

  • I bet i could get my dog to howl along with this.

  • are we not all searching for that "something else"....

we must realize that it is more than a search..it is a battle...a battle that defines who we are...a battle with the bullshit mind and thoughts that are created by the illusions...we must shed our ego and illusory selves to realize the simple yet intricate beauty of the moments we have in front of us...

  • lo n behold a voice with passion

  • Awesome! Beautiful! And Eddie Vedder's music from "Into the Wild" fits so well. What a wonderful video.

  • looks life a mine...

  • this is amazing....at 1:05 theres a little cabin...what is that

  • for those of you that don't know.. this is the howling wolf.. and eddie vedder is a shaman. He was a red indian in another life. WHy? because once I got so F***d up on drugs (i dont do drugs, i had done, i mixed alot and paid for it) that during this film, his voice, lifted me upwards like nothing ever b4,, onto a higher plane. Drugs make you Xtra sensitive. I heard his voice on th soul level.. it was the most amazing thing ever. Dont do drugs. But respect this Artisit.. he is more than we see.

  • elle est trop bien la vidéo :) c'est pas l'alaska mais c'est encore mieux lol. t'as vu le film into the wild? and im french but i live in the us and anyway we just got done reading the book and my teacher showed us the movie. i think chris just couldnt deal with the world but its to bad he died cuz he looked like a pretty good guy (just kinda weird)

and im sry about any mistakes lol ive been in the us for just 20 months

  • OH man, 0:36 want so badly to be there right now...sun shining down as a beautiful mountain awaits me to conquer it with eddie vedder's voice howling in my mind.

  • This sucks so bad!!! Insulting and cheesy. *barf*

  • @disneypenlight Dude, stfu.

  • WONDERFUL

  • I'm rather near the North Circle. Never seen a wolf, but bears seen few times. He did it good. Kinda soulfull man.

  • love it. btw where are you?

  • @ gwinnfreeland.....dude, he left for the wild because he was tired of the obsession of material things....he also had to take a journey for himself...he may have died in the end, but i think it's commendable that in a world today that is engrossed with material posessions he was better than that and would rather take his chances in the wild...unfortunately for him, it cost him his life.

  • i just cant c y gwinn is just talkin about it... ok he wasnt prepared enough, but he was brave enough... dats wot it is about, he was an amazin guy to do wot he did. i cant say da same about u thou (not blamin u), im against wars nd u sound rly proud of urself for bein in a war...

  • It's pretty self explanatory , isn't it ? How much simplier can I make it ? Chris lived

around people, and he was alright. Then,

when he went to Alaska, he lived alone off the land, and he died. He didn't know that he was going to die. It's sad, but alot of people perish that way. Hunters , even in

areas that have people, get lost in the woods, and die. And why ? Because they've never adapted to the wilderness conditions. Alaska is huge. Too big to take

    a chance on survival.

  • @gwinnfreeland I don't know if you've read the book or seen the movie, but he did pretty damn good out there, just made a couple mistakes that ended up costing him his life. Maybe there's a reason this happened, I mean look how many people have been inspired by his story, we probably never would of heard about it had he not dead. Still very sad thought, I mean he was planning to return. And you say he was alright around people, but he wasn't, he was dieing on the inside, he was free out there

  • WELL gwinn........maybe you should free land yourself.....explain some reasoning please????

  • Yes, he starved to death, but you have to be experienced to go live in the wild. You can't teach yourself skills in survival, without knowing what to look for first.

Chris was born and raised in a suburban

city area. He thought it was just a matter of going out alone in the wild, and eating what you harvest. He was na'ive, and he lost his life for it. A classic " fish out of water " story. The wilderness is unforgiving. He should have stayed where it was a warmer climate - in civilazation .

  • Almaroquer : Yes, Chris did not know enough about the wild to survive. He nearly drove himself to starving before he even ate those seeds that killed him. He tried to survive the best way he knew, but the environment and nature itself is unforgiving. If you fuck up, you don't get a second chance. I admire his courage, but in my case, I was already past the point of courage, I was just plain nuts.

I survived because I'm Native American,

so I'd been use to outdoor hazards, like

    hypothermia.

  • @gwinnfreeland He died from [rabbit starvation] a condition were your body can't process proteins properly cause the meat you eat is very lean, you need fat to process proteins. Small game does'nt have much fat as you well know. There were no deadly seeds involved, thats hollywood story

  • thx to put a littlebit of wisdom in youtube ppl like you are hard to find today

  • Thanks.

  • I'm 56 years old, and I've lived in the wild in Alaska, after I had gone crazy from the Viet Nam war. All I wanted was to be left alone. I now live in Michigan , where the land is very much like Alaska. Chris McCandless wasn't

prepared for harsh environment. He was

a city kid, that knew nothing about the wild. It's something you don't learn from a book. It's about facing your deamans , and surviving all forms of torcher , to be alone. I was gone for along time. I needed time to heal.

  • @gwinnfreeland so, do you think that chris died because hi didn´t know about the wild?

  • @gwinnfreeland I was born in 1978 long after nam, but I'm glad you found what you were looking for out there, you deserve it .For you made the world what it was when i came into it and i'm forever greatful to you! Thank you.

  • Love this film and soundtrack so much!

  • I dont remember any stronger influence from a movie and a soundtrack like this shaken all my body and my life !!

  • i love this song it is so upsetting and amazing

  • I have never worshipped anyone in my life. I am too arrogant for that. But Eddie Vedder is something else. His voice is immaculate.

  • this song is about weed

  • you sir, are a fucking idiot.

  • you must be talking about the pot head who thinks this song is about weed right? lols.

Listen andaloo, grow the fuck up.

  • LOL, yup you guessed it. I smoke pot and I know this song is the farthest thing from being about it the sticky shit.

  • why do you want me to grow up so much? i dont get it .... you dont even know me yet you are concerned i am not tall enough? whats your problem?

  • grow up you dickhead. GROW UP.

  • im not sure but i think i am fully grown so asking me to get taller is a bit childish... act your age dick head, ACT YOUR AGE

  • Grow up as in: stop saying it's about weed; not: get taller. I saw you post the same thing on another vid. Grow up, kid.

  • can you stop following me about and asking me to get taller, come oni dont want to have you reported so come on now.... stop it. and this song IS about weed btw ftw lol rofl

  • "btw ftw lol rofl"

Yeah, you're right, you are very mature.

  • why the sudden change of heart?

  • There's something called sarcasm. I hope you're not that dumb.

Also, there's something called face value, at which you take everything.

But I realize I'm talking to some idiot who is just trolling for the fuck of it, so, whatever. Please, by all means, keep being an asshole. Don't mind me. Either that or you really are that stupid, in which case, it's pointless regardless.

  • what???

  • face value? i would never sell my face

  • breath taking song !!!

  • cant wait to go back to the alps:)

  • Those are reminiscent of our peaks here in the North Cascades in WA State...nice shots

  • nice

  • Are these mountains in Pakistan?

  • hi solex, where is the place of the video?? really incredible!

  • Arve Valley, France.

  • Arve Valley, France.

  • the song and the view combined together are perfect ;]

  • this is so amazing. i wish i would stand there now and listen to this song..

  • bravo

    Bravo, Chapeau l'artiste =)

  • Merci. Le but recherché est donc atteint. :-)

  • @Solexman79

I don't speak french very well, but I can perfectly understand what you are saying.

You my friend, are a wise man.

  • Thanks man.

Music and nature are universal languages.

  • and people say eddie lost it.. powerful vocals here

  • thanks for sharing those impressions. where is that?

  • beautiful. simply beautiful.

  • agree totally.

  • Well I think thats defenetly somewhere in Kanda, places like that you don`t found in Europe, even if you go far away!!!

  • WOW -- I THINK I've BEEN TO THAT PLACE IN THIS VIDEO -- is it located in French Alps of Southern France?? I believe the place was called Chamonix? I remember a small lake in the mountains that was a cloudy pale-blue color. Was there back in summer of 1990.

  • Yes, good answer !

  • Please check my covers of songs from into the wild on my profile, thank you :) RIP CHRIS

  • holy shit is that eddie vedder singing? amazing. I'm a new big fan

  • I've heard he had a deathwish. Iv'e heard all kinds of discections. For me, I don't care. The movie and the music make/made me think about who I really am as a human being, and what I truly want. It's a good question to ask of oneself. I am not my mothers daughter, I am not my fathers child. I am just me.

  • Great song form great move.

Greetings from Poland and invite to beautiful

    polish mountains "Tatry" ! ;)

  • I hate this kind of self-celebrations...

    the song is great!

  • This Video is Good for my Soul,Great

  • Saw him do this last night live on Maui. Pretty awesome. Used digital loop to have several different versions of his voice going at once.

  • Doesn't get Eddie Vedder. He's got that tribal sound down.

  • The one thing that distinguishes Chris from everyone here who says they want to get out or who say they are going to do a similar thing because society is messed up is that Chris did not need to share it with other people or in places like this. If anything, youtube is a PERFECT example of the kind of society that Chris wanted to run away from... If you have to share it here in advance (not talking about experience) it means you'll probably never be able to pull off a thing like he did...

  • Isn't it that he realised at the end that "happines is only true when shared"?

  • I don't see how saying stuff like that in comments on youtube is sharing your happiness. Most of the answers you get here are not what you're looking for anyway. If you wish to share the kind of happiness that was shown in the movie, you should share it with your friends and family. If you desperately share it with the people here on youtube it means you are way too deep into the society that the people (who write they want to get away) loathe in their comments. That was my point.

  • Oh i see, i misunderstood you. (i tought you meant the happines one experiences all alone in the freedom) thanks for the quick reply

  • Ah ok! Misunderstanding! Sorry if i sounded a bit harsh (just read my own comment) didn't mean to :)

  • @Broodjeunox56 you have defined yourself as the greatest hypocrite to ever speak on youtube.

  • @bukk3t I guess an award is better than no award at all. Kind of easy giving out awards without explanation isn't it? But thanks for the recognition nonetheless.

  • Uhm, It's a nice Thought. So to catch up happines we must shared our life with another person? antoher SPECIAL person, not any, but a special person who shares something with us?

  • Just do what ever makes you happy, people find happiness differently, that's what makes us unique.

  • Well, considering that he starved to death in a bus, I wouldn't say he really "pulled it off".

The "poison seed" theory has been discreditied though testing. Krakauers "new" theory (in the new edition of the book) is that his seeds grew fungus.

But, a theory is all it is, with nothing to back it up. He needs these theories to keep the story romantic.

The truth, that he starved to death in shrubby tundra, with very few game animals to shoot, isn't very romantic.

  • That depends vey much on what you would define as romantic.

For instance, if you were to look up the period of time from which the art was described as 'Romantic' you'll find a lot of killings and misery.

What I'm trying to say is, Romantic is not the same as Romance

  • My point is, I think people "romanticize" the Chris McCandless story far too much. If you point this out, they attack you and claim you are jealous of him.

The fact is, there are a lot of people who go out in the world and do adventurous things. I've met a lot of them. They're still alive.

The only think McCandless did to really distinguish himself form the rest is DIE,

and have his story glorified in a book.

Hey, maybe he really WAS a great person,

    But the glorification is silly.

  • Morecowbell69 - You should check out, The Call of the WIld, a documentary that was filmed by Ron LaMothe. To me, LaMothe finds that middle ground between a fool who starved in the wild, and a young man who was driven by something that is beautiful and pure and primal in all of us - the need to caste off all material things and go back into the wild and find oneself. His intent was was romantic in nature but he was ill-prepared for what he had embarked on and paid the price -- tragic!

  • @Broodjeunox56 excellent point

  • @Broodjeunox56 You didn't know him. He'd say this is about Eddie's voice and be disgusted with this bullshit hype. This is raw and belongs to NO ONE. It's free man. If you are compelled to replay - you REALLY REALLY don't get IT.

  • @shelski72 I dont think i'm sure what you're getting at here and i'm also not sure he'd be disgusted. He had a vision and it was portrayed pretty well in the movie. I don't think the "hype" made his vision any less prominent. The only thing it did was spread that vision to so much more people. I don't know a single friend of mine that wasn't touched by the movie and i think that's what he'd want: Hand people a different look on the world that we live in. Well mission accomplished i'd say?

  • In A Morocco

  • THE WILD is something you have inside. Facing it is a scary but exciting and beautiful journey. Freedom is waiting at the end of the road. God bless all the tramps on it.

  • my ammbition for the future is to go to the same places as in the film

    and more

i dont know whever im the only1 but i just wanna put the rest of the world at the back of my head

and have a new life in the wild

  • super!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • I've been wanting to 'get out there' for ages, but the trappings of modern life are . . . what the fucck am I talking about? GET OUT! GET OUT!

  • where to, how?

  • Where to? THE WORLD?

    How?

    Good question.

Then again, the only one holding me back is me, myself and I.

Oh yes, and those corporate fucks.

  • the call of a wolf...to the moon and back again...........

  • great video thanks for taking the time.

  • Totally true about losing our freedom. We look for others to fix our problems and are dependent on government. It is time for people to get out their and do something with their lives. You only have one life to live. Unless you believe in Buddhism which I have no problem with people believing in their own religion.

  • Thankyou for writing this.

Sometimes I feel like I am the only one.

  • amazing

  • where was this filmed?

  • @ asonofleemarvin

The French or Swiss Alps I guess, but I want to know too!

  • I know this place: it's the 'Lac Blanc' in the 'Aiguilles Rouges' massif above Chamonix (France). A wonderful place for hiking!

  • This makes me long for the freedom human-race has long since lost...

  • Sympa ta p'tite vidéo. J'adore cette Bo.

    A+

  • beautiful :)

  • might i suggest you watch the movie INTO THE WILD, youll love it.....

there is only one eddie vedder............

  • the movie was pretty good..but the nudity was not what i wanted when im 15 yrs old.

  • this songs touches my soul! just like the movie, and chris's thoughts

  • Wow, where is that place? It looks amazing.

  • Salut, merci pour ton com. Ca a été filmé après les 1990's, et oui ! La date exacte : 5 novembre 2007.

  • awesome

  • That's pretty good actually.

  • good video man

  • Call of the WILD!

  • where is the mountain in the video???

  • In France, Alpes Mountains. It's at the top of the Arve valley.

  • thanks for the answer

  • awesome dude

  • very beautiful. were you there all alone?

  • Yes.

  • amazing.

  • Merci. Cette chanson est en mouvement.

  • Super belle video jadore <3

  • i fucking lvoe this song. especially in the movie!

  • Bonjour!

  • i want 2 hike these mountains.

  • i want to stay there

  • I love this man, and i love what he does.

I give away TANGO for those who want, go to my youtube, greetings from argentina, Valentine. lots of kisses!!!
