Wow! I haven't heard this in decades! I still have this album (yes, album!). Unfortunately, it's collecting dust with my other relics from the past. But, I refuse to get rid of all my old albums. :)
@ilovegoodsax - 'Nightwalker' is available on CD. You may have to look a bit to find it, but it's out there. And it's still such a killer album. Vinnie Colaiuta in his earlier years... wicked.
@MrCherryJuice It's worth checking out. I remember I couldn't get enough of this album and played it to death! I also remember every song being a winner. It's hard to believe it's been 30 years. Thanks for the tip!
@MrCherryJuice - There are also two DVDs 'Brother to Brother' (live on tour w/Mark Craney) and 'Live in Montreal', w/Enzo Tedesco drumming. Gino's website may still offer them, but it not, bootlegs are available if you look around online. Tedesco is a very capable player, but I found him a bit too 'chops-y'. True Craney had chops, but he was so musical and had a feel... an extremely deep groove. Tesdesco has chops... though possibly all these years later he has everything else as well.
The quick guitar/bass break down at 1:54 and 2:50 is damn good. This song is so great. Gino Vannelli is a music genre of his own, there is no way you could classify him.
this song brings me back to my days, listening to this album over and over. Does anyone know if they can put on "Sally - she says the sweetest things". thanks if you can.
Impresionante: compré este disco en vinilo cuando apareció. Es una clase maestra de canto y de cómo tocar cada uno de los instrumentos, los arreglos, todo. Una joya que resiste absolutamente el paso del tiempo. Ricardo, de Argentina
A real tear jerker this one. Guitar players were the best payed session musicians at this time and this proves they were worth every dime. Amazing timing and control. No way this can ever be repeated, even with all the new computer control 30 years later. Fan fudging tastic!!!
To check out something really cool here on youtube type in 'Santa Rosa Gravitone' to see an Asian band playing this and nailing it....with an Asian singer doing a great Gino!
This man was and still is so on top of his game. With his brother Joe, Gino produced music that was dramatic, romantic , and executed to perfection...always had the best musicians. It still stands up now as it did then....these boys knew what they were doing !
I know! We can basically thank the Vanellis for discovering Graham Lear, who is clearly one of the finest drummers planet Earth has ever produced. Santana agreed and grabbed him.
I like very much!!!

Of the rockers he has produced, this song reigns as my favorite from Gino Vannelli. I recently hijacked my dad's CD for a car trip and good memories.

So as to not mislead anyone, Vinnie Colaiuta is the drummer on this track and on the entire album. Amazing drumming and music.
