Approached from the perspective of Economic Theory and the Laws of Supply and Demand Socialism Theoreticlly fails as does any controlled economy. The principle of self interest helped determine the Laws of Supply & Demand and all human choice is subject to a psychological or material benefit. Self Interest pitted against itself in a free market generates abundance. Conversely, the same self interest in controlled market economies guarantys Scarcity and Shortages. If Adam Smith had used the term God instead of invisible hand, then we would all be wondering who was Adam Smith.
