I miss a lot of the original ILMers from those days.
I have that HUUUUUUUGE book that Tom Smith wrote...I feel like I got to know many of them through that and the many "making of" specials that were being broadcast back then.
oh and can someone please help me figure out what pin blocking was!! please for years ive been trying to find out. i believe the first taun taun shot was completed this way.
Im putting together an outline on a documentay for tv about the old ways (i hate calling it that) of visual effects so im in need of some help in the future with people to interview any help will be greatly rewarded.
Ken 'wood allen' Ralston gets 11 points for physical comedy.
All those guys were my heros when i was starting out they still are and i think all these great techniques that were used in that time (and in my time too) are still valid and charming to this day, im glad my dad finally forgave me for rendering a matte painting on the patio windows one summer!
its kinda good to know that despite the digital revolution of this industry with all its tsunami ferocity in hardware and software, that its still just the same in the "shop" when i comes to mucking about...
Okay....FOR THE RECORD: MIKE WAS A GREAT GUY...PROBABLY STILL IS! Wherever you are Mike...I am sorry that I said you were a Negative Number...Hope you are doing great!
