They did this at Summerfest in Milwaukee after Florence + The Machine opened for them. I was sitting pretty far back and when I heard Dan singing I thought they must have brought Flo back out to sing! Props for doing that live.
I'm addicted to a drug man, can't go to rehab from it and I can't run away from it...it JUST GOTTA BE. it's called THE BLACK KEYS....ut one thing i do know in the end, they will be my everlasting light.
@chandlersitting yeah maybe if the piano was played in a lower octave or something it would be better. You know, something with more low frequency instead of a happier pop sound like this.
I'm still baffled as to why they added the other two members. It's not that big deal if you embellish an album a bit with more instrumentation, because it makes going to shows to see how they're going to play it live a lot more interesting....that's how I felt at a lot of their shows. What the keyboard player adds here is just distracting in my opinion..
@jordanbuckelew I don't think they added more members, but when they record they record everything separately so when they do it live they have to get someone to do the additional part such as the bass and piano. That's why it's hard to find bass tabs for older black keys stuff.
@blackmoon331 I mean just when they play live. I quite liked hearing how they would end up playing songs live without the extra instrumentation. Psychotic Girl for example.
rolledgold i agree with the first part but they wrote this album to have a lot more soul and they need to the bass and keyboards to get the sound they want. saw them in austin and it was just them two playing all their good old stuff and when they played anything from brothers they brought out the band then the bassist and keyboards left and it was back to the original badass keys...theyre amazing
i dont like when bands that have few people bring in extra musicians to perform live. like i seen green day tours with a dude who plays lead guitar for them. and i saw the black keys on snl like this with a bassist and keyboard.
A friend pointed out, this song was clearly influenced by T Rex. Check out Mambo Sun and it will hit you like a brick shithouse.
