It's an amazing piece of film. Beyond Thunderdome on the other hand... Let's just leave it at that. What sets Mad Max apart from nearly all of the other wasteland movies is that Max didn't have to deal with radioactive mutants, zombies, people with ESP, or technology that doesn't exist.

The closest thing would be the giant Blaster with a boy's face, but I've actually seen guys like that before.

dont do 3d effects please I beg you, I am 24 years old and we really do spot them everytime and it makes the whole thing cheap what I love about mad max is not so much about mel because I do like the idea for new talent to be used but its the realism. real action by real metal cars that do fly and jump but if I saw any 3d effect I would be so dissapointed. its a bear metal life in the movie and a good advice is to keep it bear metal production. can't wait..so far the hod rod looks the part

He did a lot with less than a million, when action movies had budgets in the tens of millions. Did it on a shoestring, and the profit/expense ratio makes the first one one of the highest net profit movies of all time

Without Mel Gibson's presence, there is no possible way that Fury Road can be better than any of the first 3 movies.

Nightmare on Elm street without Robert Englund? Die Hard without Bruce Willis? And a perfect example: Terminator without Arnold? Iconic actors in iconic roles can't be replaced.

The only solution is if they set the movie in the Mad Max universe, but not directly about HIM, ie Max Rockatansky, then perhaps.

Fury Road is not going to be a sequel to Beyond Thunderdome, it's either going to be a sequel to Mad Max 1 or Mad Max 2, taking place before Beyond Thunderdome.

Personally my money is on it taking place between Mad Max 1 and 2, since the Interceptor was completely destroyed in Max Max 2. The Interceptor we can see here most resembles the Mad Max 2 interceptor, with the front skirt missing.
