  • This show reminds me of my Dad, rest his soul. I woke up with Charles Kuralt voice on the telly and it's like a warm hug, it's home. I got weepy just hearing his wonderful, distinct voice. He was a TRUE host, his presence left a gap that is a chasm now.

  • This aired on Easter Sunday. I watched it.

  • I remember waking up at my Grandma's house and hearing two things. First, the refrigerator running with its mild and somehow pleasant hum. And second, Charles Kuralt's distinct voice welcoming his audience to another Sunday morning. It's one of those deeply ingrained memories that will never leave me. When I hear his voice, I am transported to another, perhaps better, time and place.

  • The Next Day Charles Osgood would be the host.

  • Pride of UNC.

  • A beautiful, graceful American writer and broadcaster.

  • I never met the man but I loved his contribution to CBS news. Charles had, in my opinion, just about the coolest job you could have- he got to travel around the country in an RV and report about what he saw. The only other person I can think of who has an equivalent job would be Samantha Brown on The Travel Channel. . . . she is that reporter who travels all over the world and gets to stay in 5 star properties (and write about it) .

  • Charles Kuralt was one of the best.... He was also a fellow North Carolinian. RIP, dear sir.

  • I remember this . Sunday Morning was a great show. Charles Osgood was fine, better than most, but Charles Kuralt was the very best.

  • For once, I'd like to see Osgood wear a necktie, not a bowtie. He's a news anchor, not a goofy scientist.

  • Did anyone else notice that after the set went dark that Charles Kuralt wiped a tear from his eye? The man was class, all the way.

  • r.i.p charles kuralt.

  • What a beautiful, bittersweet moment..the passing of the torch from one great broadcaster to another. I grew up watching Charles Kuralt and loved him...I watched this when it aired...the tears were rolling down my cheeks when Kuralt said that final "goodbye."

  • I remember waking up at my grandma's house and hearing Charles Kuralt's voice on Sunday Morning. I miss the old days.

  • such a great job he did. and so happy as a Welshman that a choir of them was there to sing him off....

  • Thank you thank you thank you -- finding this little gem was like a surprise meeting with an old and much missed friend. Poignant and tender. Thank you.

  • Charles Kuralt was a great man!! When I was a kid, this was the only good program to watch on Sunday morning. It is not what it used to be. He used to bring out the beauty in America when I watched him, not the uglyness and division like you see now. He had a awesome way of bringing you the news and combining the beauty of the country and culture into it!! RIP Mr. Kuralt

  • when i first came to this country as an early riser, That show was always something i looked forward to coming on. His voice i still do sometimes .

    "this is sunday morning"

  • As an old broadcaster myself, thanks so much for posting this. I just learned of Walter Cronkite's death and felt compelled to visit another old friend, Charles Kuralt. If you're a Kuralt fan, you can't do better than the audio of him reading the original Winnie The Pooh. It's fabulous. Thanks again...

  • Ah yes. I would agree with you 110%. These two people were what news broadcasting was all about. Now that we know that they are together again, I wonder what the news will be like up in Heaven? I'd bet it is very good with them there. May they both be remembered.

  • We still miss you. Such a familiar voice.

  • Does anyone knows what date this aired??

  • April 3, 1994

  • thx!

  • No prob ;)

  • Kuralt was the perfect host for the perfect Sunday morning program, a news show that does not get you depressed. It is still a wonderful show and Osgood is fine but you miss Charles Kuralt`s wonderful voice with his lyrical lilt. He could announce the end of the world and make it seem o.k.

  • i do miss him, i miss those relaxing sunday mornings. i should not have liked this show as a child, but i did.

  • He was one of a kind, stuck to his beliefs and I'm still saddened he is no longer amongst us.
