Actually the girls were the original characters from the original shoujo anime called Angel Tales.
And Saint Beast is the spin-off of it. The girls were animals in their past life and each girls are the fiancees of the Saint Beast. Yuki was the snake, Ayumi was the Turtle, Tanami was the cat, and Tsubasa was the bird.
Shin, Rei, Gai and Goh were the villains in Angel Tales. Watch Angel Tales.
Saint Best wasn't suppose to be a shounen-ai. And Luca and Yuda never exist.

hmmm I think it;s a good relief to see some female characters for once,not just as victums but actual angels. Simply so it doesn't look like a universe of men only. It creats balance in my mind. Plus, if shonen ai is whats most important to viewers, I think it highlights the actual 'Choice' of loving boyXboy and not BoyXgirl... hard to believe it's true love, if thats the only choice you have in character selection.
