Mortal Kombat's fighting engine doesn't even come close to SF's depth and the fighting is FAR more fluid in SF. Mortal Kombat has gotten so lame and the engine isn't balanced, why do you think Mortal Kombat isn't famous in tournaments? If it was "better" as you say, it would have much more spot light in the tourney scene, which it doesn't. All MK has is gory violence.

If you throw in Akuma then yes Akuma's Gou Hadou's (only the Shakenetsu is actual fire) are better than Ryu's or Ken's.

But Super move-wise Ryu's strong point is the Skinkuhadouken. Ken doesn't have any projectile supers (unless you count the Ryu/Ken crossover combination from any of the vs titles). And I personally perfer ken's Tornado Whirlwind Kicks of any form and i am pissed at capcom for making hi Guren Senpukyaku weaker than the first
