I like both but I enjoy pole bending better. But since my big mares butt can't seem to go around the barrel we always blow out. At least in poles we get a chance. I was reading some comments of horse phobia so my mares phobia is small black animals. Like dogs ponies cats exc.

@apharedeemer I'm a professional trainer and certified instructor. I've spent years in a western saddle, and every other type of saddle. I've trained western pleasure horses and shown western pleasure. I've shown dressage, eventing, hunter/jumpers, barrels, reining, saddleseat, and vaulting. Out of every style I have ridden, western pleasure is the EASIEST, and requires no talent on the rider, only the trainer. That's why western pleasure isn't in the Olympis or the WEG.

@jumpersaw Um, well, no. It does take a while to train the horse and get them used to it, you've gotta transition right in the ring, the horse has to respond quickly... the beauty pagent would be halter showing, that that takes a great deal of work, too.

@i0dare0you Thanks for the appology :) My only problem with western pleasure, is I have been a stewart in the ring, and heard a judge choose which horse to place first because one had a fancier bridle. I gave up on western pleasure when I had horses that were true "western pleasure" and should have done well, not winning because they didn't have shiney saddles/bridles and a rediculous outfit on the rider. And at this point, they expect the horses to carry out completely unatural gaits.

I am leaning toward Barrels because it is in the PRCA and it is always there, for ex. Pole Bending is not even in college, which sucks!!!! I also feel that barrels is more competitive because it is more (whats the word, idk it just keeps going, inbetween NBHA, and futchurites (I also know I can't spell whatever) but I know it is alot harder to be in the top ten in barrels because there are more girls! But Poles is really competitive too, there is just less girls.
i have a mare who hates white and poles and barrels that are white she freaks .... i almost did a nose dive into the arena fence that happend to be white as well... not fun but i did hang on for dear life and she stoped after a few jerks on the rain.... and a spur in her side she did not buck or speed up she felt bad for what she did
I love the music! I have just recently started the speed contest and I'm not that good yet. But I you show more than these classes, then I think poles helps you with the bending. But in these classes i LOVE THEM BOTH!!!

@barrelracelover Haha yeah. Im going to teach my horse pole bending today. We learned how to barrel race a couple weeks ago for fun And we just made our own poles from cement and PVC. I hope Dakota likes it! :) I love having choices. Dakota is actually a jumper. Ha

I like both equal, I used to want to be a pro barrel racer but then i discovered poles lol. Maybe I'll do both! Haha but my horse always goes to a walk when i turn the last pole! Even if I'm kicking and clicking to him!
i think alot of Eq. sports are fairly equal to the rider.. now pole bending takes alot of agility to a horse barrel racing takes flexibility and jumping takes alot of stanima.. all three sports require all of those attributes but they take more of one .. <3 all horse sports :)
Awesome Video! I prefer barrels at the moment just because my 4yr old thinks the point of poles is to pick up the last on in her teeth. It is very odd and hard to get her to stop. Pole deffinitely takes more attention than barrels and whenever I carry my over and under it knocks the poles down (a hint to not do that ) :P Great job !!
I Like Pole Bending more . .It's more challenging I think but I also love barrel racing and there are more competitions for barrel racing around where I live then pole bending

I love the video! And I agree that all equestrian sports are equal. They take just as much want, will and potential to achieve and win at. I originally fell in love with barrel racing. But now that my horse is finished in barrels my pole bending trainer is wanting me to train him on poles. So I LOVE both.. Actually I love ALL things to do with horses lol :)

Good video. The pole benders kinda sucked compared to the good barrel racing videos. I was a state and national pole bending directer in the NHSRA so I am for poles all the way but I like barrels to. I liked your music it made me anticipate what was to come next,

I do both, but i would have to go with barrels! Barrel racing has also come a long way, farther than poles. Its and NFR event! So i gotsta say barrels!
I run barrels and poles. I'm a junior barrel racing. And i have ran barrels at home, but went in my 1st rodeo a couple weeks ago. And got 5th place, with a timing of 19.27 seconds in barrels. And disqualified in poles, cuz my horse was to fast to turn. I could have done better in barrels if my barrel mare would have turned second faster.
I run barrels and poles. But i prefer poles to barrels, i guess because i'm a senior and this is my last year, and i have a 20 second pole horse my dad is tellin me he is selling next year. I went to the NHSFR [high school nationals] this year after runnin five rodeos and i won the average and short go at our state finals :] i run a six year in the barrels, so i'm relearnin to win and lose :]]
my mares are all better pole horses, both are equally as hard as the other in ways, but I've always found a harder time not hitting poles, espcially with Gizmo, when you ride him hes so fast and well trained trying to keep up with him gets you panting for air. Barrels I hit too often tho =P

I love the music! I have just recently started the speed contest and I'm not that good yet. But I you show more than these classes, then I think poles helps you with the bending. But in these classes i LOVE THEM BOTH!!!

Poor horse at 3:02. I think thats the riders fault. I see nothing wrong with the horse. Its running fine!:/ Awesome video. I dont really have a favorite. Besides jumping. I love that most but yes they are equal. It just depends on the opinions of the riders:)

@barrelracelover Haha yeah. Im going to teach my horse pole bending today. We learned how to barrel race a couple weeks ago for fun And we just made our own poles from cement and PVC. I hope Dakota likes it! :) I love having choices. Dakota is actually a jumper. Ha

@arabjumperxD thats awsome that you taught ur jumping horse to do that. i always wanted to jump a horse in like hight jumps. i started teaching one of my horses how to jump and she is pretty good at it. but i am scared to go any higher haha. do u have any videos up of Dakota barrel Racing? cuz id like to see that

I like both equal, I used to want to be a pro barrel racer but then i discovered poles lol. Maybe I'll do both! Haha but my horse always goes to a walk when i turn the last pole! Even if I'm kicking and clicking to him!

i think alot of Eq. sports are fairly equal to the rider.. now pole bending takes alot of agility to a horse barrel racing takes flexibility and jumping takes alot of stanima.. all three sports require all of those attributes but they take more of one .. <3 all horse sports :)

Awesome Video! I prefer barrels at the moment just because my 4yr old thinks the point of poles is to pick up the last on in her teeth. It is very odd and hard to get her to stop. Pole deffinitely takes more attention than barrels and whenever I carry my over and under it knocks the poles down (a hint to not do that ) :P Great job !!

I like barrel racing better. But dont get me wrong, i like both barrels and poles. But i think barrels give me more fun and joy, and make me feel more competitive. Nice vid! Not trying to say barrels r better than poles, they are both awesome events! But i like doing the barrels better.

I love the video! And I agree that all equestrian sports are equal. They take just as much want, will and potential to achieve and win at. I originally fell in love with barrel racing. But now that my horse is finished in barrels my pole bending trainer is wanting me to train him on poles. So I LOVE both.. Actually I love ALL things to do with horses lol :)

Good video. The pole benders kinda sucked compared to the good barrel racing videos. I was a state and national pole bending directer in the NHSRA so I am for poles all the way but I like barrels to. I liked your music it made me anticipate what was to come next,

Great footage of both! It is hard to say which is more fun, but I would say "turn and burn" hehe! I wish I had footage like this of me when I was a kid doing barrels and poles. Lovely video! Have fun with those horses! How I miss horses, but my dogs and doing agility and canine freestyle is a blast. Not to mention my dogs are my best friends like my horses were when I was a kid! I run barrels and poles. I'm a junior barrel racing. And i have ran barrels at home, but went in my 1st rodeo a couple weeks ago. And got 5th place, with a timing of 19.27 seconds in barrels. And disqualified in poles, cuz my horse was to fast to turn. I could have done better in barrels if my barrel mare would have turned second faster.

I run barrels and poles. But i prefer poles to barrels, i guess because i'm a senior and this is my last year, and i have a 20 second pole horse my dad is tellin me he is selling next year. I went to the NHSFR [high school nationals] this year after runnin five rodeos and i won the average and short go at our state finals :] i run a six year in the barrels, so i'm relearnin to win and lose :]]

my mares are all better pole horses, both are equally as hard as the other in ways, but I've always found a harder time not hitting poles, espcially with Gizmo, when you ride him hes so fast and well trained trying to keep up with him gets you panting for air. Barrels I hit too often tho =P
