Very nice video... dont sweat the safety police though.. kids climb trees higher than that and dangle upside off of branches. Good practice to wear a belt? Absolutely.... however, that stand looks like its no more than 8-10' high. Enjoy the outdoors....
Thanks for the great comment, my fellow bowhunter! I know just what ya mean regarding kids & heights. My daughter has always climbed our Basketball goal, not to mention some of the trees in the area. I definitely support those who wear a 4 point harness while hunting, but I really don't think they're necessary under all circumstances. One of the stands in this video is around 10' high & the other is closer to 15'. Thanks for watchin'!
Hey, Garnett. How are things with you, my friend? I totally agree with you on teaching our kids about the great outdoors. There is much they can learn just by being out in it. Regarding the use of a tether, you've probably noticed I'm attached to the tree via a tether in my videos. That tether leads to a 4 point harness, because I don't believe in waist belts. You're right on the money, my friend. Don't leave home without your safety harness ! ! !
@OutdoorsmanByDesign Oh I was`nt sure she did `nt have one on sitting there --Well we have an unusual weather system middle winter central Alberta Can. and is above freezing in the night time it sure beats being 35 + below freezing all winter our lakes have no snow-- ice has water on it other than that can`t wait to see what happens next -Have a good one TTYL.
You're right. She wasn't wearing one. To me, I guess it's kind of like climbing a ladder to get on the top of my roof at home. I don't wear a tether there. I just wanted to give her the feeling of what it's like sitting on a tree stand. However, if she were to have been "actually hunting" from the stand, I would have insisted she wear one, since she'd be spending quite a bit of time up there. It's good to know you & I both believe in hunter safety systems, my friend.
Are you thinking about getting one of those two-seat stands? I saw one recently (somewhere) and they weren't expensive. I'd think the best way to squirrel hunt is to pretend to be deer hunting. They seem to want to torment deer hunters by beaming in from alternative universes and surrounding the stand. Glad the kids are enjoying their Christmas break. Looks like nice end of year weather for us, too!
That's a great idea, Don! I've often thought of similar ways to trick those furry little critters! I typically have more luck huntin' 'em up when I'm sittin' still, which, as you know, is quite difficult when you are huntin' with rambunctious kids! LOL! Here's hopin' you been enjoyin' this beautiful weather, my friend!
