I would say Varlamov's was the better save because the game was tied 2-2 and this saved Washington from possibly losing the game (whereas the Luongo save came while Vancouver was losing 2-0 and eventually lost the game). Also, Varlamov is a rookie, having only played a handful of playoff games, while Luongo's played quite a few more. Luongo's save was great, I'll agree, but he almost pushed it into the net himself as he tipped it. Varlamov just plain robbed Crosby. Great saves but Varlamov wins.

ovie doesn't set up plays like crosby does...just look what crosby does to make a 2 on 3 an almost slam dunk scoring chance...the more i watch crosby (i'm a bruins fan, don't see him too much), the more i appreciate how he really does make his team better...ovechkin does too, but i think that's just more because of his individual energy and talent...

so who is the better player? i still couldn't give you an actual answer because they really are 2 completely different talents.

exaclty i agree. thats why they shouldnt be compared to each other. if people go by stats then its one sided. because they play different pos. compare crosby to a nother great center and compare ovie to a nother great winger. but when it comes to stats ovechkin is the more complete player, while crosby is the set up man. i personally would take ov not only for his talent but his attitude and determination, his talent is pretty good as well. lol

but im not bashing on crosby skill at all, yeah i dont like him...but hes got talent no question. but to compare crosby who is mainly an assists type player to a guy who is well rounded in every stat is kinda stupid. crosby does his job as a center and sets up the plays, and ovie does his job as a winger and gets and equal amount of goals and assists. they are both great, as is malkin backstrom and semin.

i agree, just remember though crosby's assists mean just as much as ov's goals because both lead to goals...example: marc savard, doesn't score too many goals...but his value on the first line setting up lucic and kessel is irreplaceable...and while it may not look like much on the stat sheet, its players like those who aren't recognized enough...

its just all about what you do with whatever talent (and strengths) you are born with...thats why i think ov and crosby are not comparable.

this was a sick save...when i was watching the game i was like DAMNIT CROSBY SCORED!!! then i was like HOLY CRAP!!! there wasnt a stoppage and i was like no f-in way. They showed the replay and that was the most amazing thing ive seen in a while.
