  • I just saw Stephen Pearcy a few months ago at a Tacoma Night Club and let me tell you, it was off the charts, he played all the hits for over three hours straight and sounded amazing!

  • Juan always looked like he was having a blast!

  • esto esta weno para kiens dicen k el rock no pone a bailar

  • exelente, formidable el video y el tema son unicos

  • i wonder if they still have a million or if they blew it all and still have a mortgage.good tune

  • Apparently, according to Juan, RATT were in a lot of debt by the time the Detonator album came out hence why Stephen left the group.

  • Glam Rulez!

  • i agree

  • Ratt N Roll! This song is awesome-nobody does it better than Ratt-This was the first concert I saw back in 86 they were on tour with Poison, the Ratt Poison tour. Great show and a great time to be a teenage boy. Out of the Cellar was groundbreaking but Dancing Undercover is my favorite Ratt album.

  • I think Dancing Undercover was groundbreaking too.

It was metal with a more contemporary vibe. The album contained jazzy flavors and some funky elements (Take A Chance, 7th Avenue). There's an R&B type song in the form of One Good Lover so I think RATT were showing ways you can do other genres without using the instrumentation you'd associate specifically with that genre (e.g. saxophones, keyboards).

The riff Warren does in this song would have been done in keyboard form in another band.

  • I love this song! It was a great song to dance to when younger. My mom always made me smile. She was 57 years old at the time. This was 1986. When the video came on she would come hurrying to watch it. She thought Stephen Pearcy was cute. I miss her alot as she passed away last year. The song makes me think of her and smile

  • My condolences. xxxx

RATT were an amazing band. I think it's a shame that they never reached the same level of commercial success Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and GNR got.

The '90s could have been a way to right the wrongs of the '80s but they split up pretty much after Nirvana became big.

Rob and Juan wanted RATT to go back to the edgier lyrics and heavier sounds of the EP.

Had they done so, the impact of bands like Skid Row, Pantera, Metallica and Alice in Chains wouldn't have been as big.

  • i LOVED the 80s. there was just one awesome guitar player after another.

  • The thing that stands out for me from seeing RATT live was Juan Croucier! His performance was just awesome. I still love listening to RATT after all these years.

  • pearcy looks like an 80s' freddie mercury.

  • Fantastic song by a great band !!!!

  • steve clark was a bad ass axman for leppard and yeah i think 2 arms makes a bit of a difference, this song rox 2 the bone though!!

  • This is one of my favorite RATT songs. RATT kicks ass!

  • One night I asked and tried to get a dj at a retro bar/nightclub/dance club to play this song and the guy never heard of this band and he wouldn't play this song! I think it would have been cool to play it and see what kind of women would have gotton up and danced to it! LOL

  • Too bad. The DJ will hear it once you do the following...

Get as many vinyls of Dancing Undercover as you can possibly afford so you can give various DJs a copy.

  • i think pearcy's voice sounds the best on this album

  • I doubt it would've inspired Vince, cos he wrote nothing for Crue, aha. maybe Nikki tho!

  • saw them sept. warren is still a badd...

  • saw them at house of blues on Friday....

    warren d. is god!

  • I you tube Motley Crue & Ratt, there great...

  • Glam rock is way better than all the shit that has come out the last 5 years !

  • You mean Glam METAL

  • right right right...

  • Yeah yeah yeah. :D

  • Dance Dance Dance...

  • I wonder if the vocal melody inspired Vince Neil for Girls Girls Girls.

  • RATT RULES!!!

  • and stephen pearcy's voice has an amazing!!! quality....

  • my favorite ratt song!!!

  • Check out the chick with the copy of 'The Vampire Lestat' at 2:20.

    AWESOME!

  • Kudos for recognizing!

  • look how much the chick digs warren at 0:09

  • JosephKuby, you said it with a very good analysis. Ratt combined styles and genre and ALWAYS made it sound good.

Stephen is great on vocals and Warren is one of the best guitarists out there. RATT is truly the best band EVER!! Makes you realize how HORRIBLE the music is today!!

    R.I.P. Robbin Crosby

  • Thanks.

Even Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell was a very big fan of Ratt. Warren DeMartini was close friends with Dimebag and Juan had performed with Pantera back in the early days (as a guest performer than as a full-fledged member of the band).

Other famous RATT fans are Eddie Murphy (who also liked Cinderella), Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore (who had her photo taken with Stephen somewhere between '84 and '85).

Linda Kozlowski (from the film Crocodile Hunter) appears in this video.

  • Oops, I meant Linda Kozlowski from Crocodile Dundee is in this video.

  • 80's rock chicks were damn sexy, all these rock stars must have shagged oodles of stunners

  • Haha awesome vid.

  • The most original voice of Rock.

  • My fav RATT

  • I agree with the last guy!!!!

  • Greatest song EVER!! Dance rules! RATT rulez!!

  • Sad there playing in little clubs today :(, Can the lead singer sing like this in real life i cant find anything with him really singing live?

  • ratt always sounded good!

  • makes me wanna brush up on my riffs!! LOL

  • I had nearly forgotten about this song, if you can believe it. It was my absolute favorite song when I was 15 years old. I was dancing like a maniac all the time, just like in this video. Too bad "old age" had to come and give me back problems! LOL. Maybe it was the dancing that gave me back problems? Who knows? But Ratt stood out as one of the best back then. The rocked and still do!!!

  • Make that 14 years old. I just read this came out in 86. Also, I meant "they" rock. Too much partying in the 80's man!!!

  • you sound my kind of party animal

  • how good where ratt.the best band to come from the states in the 80s.bon jovi where bad over rated big time

  • I hear you about Ratt being the best American band in the '80s.

I agree about Bon Jovi. They're very good, at best, but they were never as great as Ratt even if Jon was the more appealing singer.

  • If you had a great time doing all that dancing.....you used your back in a most enjoyable way! Problems with your body as you get older are inevitable, the goal is to have many great memories and less regret.

(I grew up in the 80's too) :o)

  • This band always GROOVED...such serious ear candy, true riff/hook masters. Such a great song and a great setting for it. Thanks for posting this gem! I've always loved Ratt.

  • This song KICKS ASS!! Greatest song ever and RATT is the greatest band ever!!!

  • Yeah, Ratt really are the best band ever.

They were able to mix genres in a way that was very subtle, blending rap-type grooves into metal (Slip of the Lip, 7th Avenue, One Good Lover), jazzy vibes (Enough is Enough), funk metal (Take a Chance), blues (Way Cool Junior), pop metal (Shame Shame Shame) and even doing heavier sounds (the EP).

Ratt are the best rock band ever because they have an ability to write songs which are extremely catchy (What's It Gonna Be) or incredibly edgy (U Got It).

  • Awesome 5/5 Ratt Rocks!

  • haha..the "Krell Monsters"...translation...Motley Crue during the making of "Girls,Girls, Girls"...Krell= Coke....haha...nice

  • sexy band.

  • 80s... you rock my years!

  • I think one of the best Ratt Songs , a little of a def leppard influence on this song perhaps?

  • Reminds me Rock Rock Till You Drop

  • I can't really detect that much of a Def Leppard influence on this.

Although both are classic pop-metal bands. :D

  • it cause their ain't none Ratt was always more metal then pop and def was always more pop then rock.

  • For one thing the drummer has two arms. Maybe it is the deceased rhythm guitarist.

One thing is clear, this sounds nothing like Def Leppard. I admire Collen's style of playing but DeMartini smokes him. And Pearcy and Elliot sound as similar vocally as Marilyn Manson & Britny Spears. =)

  • I always find it ironic when reading reviews on the Amazon site that Def Leppard was referred to as pop metal since they were pop rock in comparison to RATT.

After looking through the comment pages, I found that TimelessRainbows was responding to a comment made by webtronasia (whose comment can be found on the 6th page - last time I checked).

I think Warren was way ahead of Collen too. It's a shame Steve and Rob are gone. Music sucks without them.

The bass player for Def reminds me of Juan.

  • Yeah, but I think Juan might have some better chops, thought that could just be because the DL bassist has to slow it down a bit once the drummer had to slow it down too. Both bands have merit.

I still love Warren DeMartini's playing style, personally.

  • can anyone name all the movie scenes shown??

  • genial....aca en Chile ya te esperamos tus verdaderos fans!!

  • Ratts rocks!!!

  • The blond at 1:35-1:36........madonna!!!! I want to marry a woman like that. Ratt got ALL the chicks at their shows!!!!

  • They still do!! =D I just partied with them last summer- greeeat time, still such fun-lovin guys =)

  • Filmed at the "Dairy Farm" nightclub in Silicon Valley.

  • you're awesome and it's good that your serious about this great 80's stuff!

  • the 80s kick ass thats what it was all about

  • DAMN RIGHT!

  • Ratttttttttttttttttttttt ATTACK!!!!!!1 of the besttt Rock Concerts 3 times here.......Wish it was possible to wake up an realize the 90's till now i was in a Coma...There's nothing like the 80's ..RATT,CRUE,KROKUS,TRIUMP,CINDERELLA,WASP,DOKKEN,TESLA,OZZZZZZZZZY,DIO, it would take all day to mention all of the GREATEST of the Rock's best decade...Anyone who thinks this shit today is Rock need to be boiling in oil......

  • i love the 80's the best just remember the 80's was called decade of decadence and golden age because it was superior then now a days! this decade and the 90's didn't get a legendary label like that!

  • Girl at 2:26/2:27 is amazing. If you don't have a completely clear view of this on computer, you need to see her on tv!

  • I remember them when i was a teenager in the 80s they were the shit, cant believe steven [percy was such a dick,Sad about robin crosby, warren de martini what a piece of ass

  • Hmmm.. Same blonde chick in Lay it Down.

  • Dick Shawn=Snow Miser

  • you now there going to rocklahoma!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:24 girl is HOT

  • not the hottest one there i can tell you that

  • I wonder if this was the song the producers of Top Gun wanted to use from Ratt.

Initially, I was thinking Body Talk but the hedonistic nature of this song fits Top Gun to a T.

Unfortunately, Ratt's management thought that The Golden Child would be the bigger hit and used Body Talk for that movie.

Ah well, Ratt certainly made up for it by having Nobody Rides For Free on the Point Break soundtrack.

I think a lot of films in the 80s could have done with some pure Rattage on their film scores.

  • anyone know who the guys is who introduces them at the beginning?

  • that's dick shawn, a comedian/lounge crooner who was famous in the 50's and 60's.

  • yeah he died about a year later from a heart attack while he was onstage performing. the audience thought it was part of the act

  • Yeah, the only reason I know who he was is because he costarred in Its a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World with Spencer Tracy and a slew of other comics back in 1963. He played Ethel Merman's crazed mama's boy son.

  • the intro is awesome lol i thought the album name was dancing underwear at first ;)

  • who is hotter? stephen or warren? i think: warren... but what do you think?

  • Stephen Pearcy is still Fuckin' HOT!!!

  • bon jovi...now they had crazy ass hair...

but long hair and rock go hand in hand. demartini looks pretty bad ass with his hair.

u just have to ease up on the aqua net....and that rarely happened back in the day, lol

but kick ass song and video

  • I love this shit!

  • Warren is really Rocking here Classic Ratt!

  • Great Video!!! I would have given my life savings to have been on the video shoot with those women!!!!

  • the drummer kinda looks like ozzy >:3

  • That era had some of the best music ever. Worst hairstyles though! haha

  • nice hairstyles ;)

  • i wish i could live in the 80's glam scene from like 80-89, thats when like some of the best bands like Guns N Roses, motley crue and ratt were at their best

  • if you like it that much, you def should have been there...what a strange, incredible time for music...and Ratt was the best overall, and the last to get signed...!!!no different than now, cruising, getting high and sometimes alone, middle of the night or during the summer breeze of the day...but I'd take Ratt, Slaughter, White Lion, Warrant, Mother Love Bone, etc. over anyone that's out now...was extremely fortunate, everytime I hear Ratt I'm back in the summer of 86 in the days of dreams...

  • what stoic lyrics and unique sound...totally musical and mysterious...for the stress and pressures of that business, unbelievable signature sound and dreamy song lists on every album...then "Detonator" the final punch in the face...awesome and definitely noteworthy for all time...I dig all the '80's/early '90's but these guys had it mastered from the start...to the ...RATT 25 YEARS AND STILL GOING...thank God...

  • I saw this video when it first premiered in MTV when I was in Junior High. I loved it so much I ran out to the store with my allowance money and bought the record. Every song on Dancing Undercover was excellent and I still listen to it on my Itunes today!

  • It's a very good album that tends to get dogged down on by a lot of Ratt fans.

I like it because it has no ballads, it's consistently heavy and funky with some groovy basslines.

This record proved how cool Ratt were and how lame the other glam bands were.

  • JosephKuby. You said it perfect! Most of the world only knows and likes Ratt for "Round 'n Round", which I think is a bit too poppish. This album was linked song-to-song, so that on the vinyl record, which I used to own brand new, played like there was no stopping point until it came time to turn in over on the turntable

Every album after this was OK with just a few worth-it songs each. But this was a gold mine of songs for the ages!

  • yeah my favorite ratt cd, dancing undercover

  • Dang look at them hot chicks. Pure 80'S metal rock and roll. And I love it.

  • warren is amazing

  • Warren Demartini is/was the most underappreciated guitarist in Heavy Metal

  • Agreed, alongside Jim Martin of Faith No More, he brought a highly fluid style of playing that could be technical without losing a sense of melody or emotion.

  • The guy eating popcorn is bombed, he been drinkin, and slippin out to the parking lot to smoke down.....popcorn is good...mmmmmmmmm...rockin band with a sense of humor.....awesome

  • poser rock kicks aaaaaasss! this song and 'you're in love' totally rock!

  • OMG, this SLAMS!

  • the drummer looks so stoned

  • the guy eating popcorn is hilarious!!

  • Awesome song, Damn i love these guys

  • White top next to the fat guy is amazing.

US women before 1990.. fit, HWP, right amount of makeup and fashion, not covered in bizzare (or fuck-you-Dad) tatts and piercings. Clothes that accentuated what they had, hid what they didn't.

no real revelation- now vs then. (look around you for Chrissakes). Just a lament.

You could to a metal show in the 80sand see girls like this every time, everywhere, and that isn't selective memory

  • nad1yahoo.....i'm not sure anyone could have said it better....props!!!!

and yeah...white top is my number 1

  • the girl at 3:37 is the hottest girl, reminds me of my lost love.

  • Warren is GOD. PERIOD.

  • Ratt rocks, sure miss all of the great 80's bands..today's music just plain SUCKS!!!

  • I fucking love this song, the best song Ratt has ever done!!!

  • ratt what a grate fucking band!

  • ratt=ledgend

  • God, I miss Robbin <'3

  • pearcy vocals give me goosebumps when i hear this song

  • Warren DiMartini is fine!

  • the blonde at 1:23 is smokin! she winks.

  • She's that woman from Crocodile Dundee. ;)

  • Ratt ruled.. period end of story

  • RATT'N'ROLL FOREVER...

  • Back when there was effort being put into music. Ratt is the fuckin best!! Fuck this new 'rock' we got out nowadays.

  • oh hellse yes

  • i completly agree

  • haha look at that mohawked punk girl bobbing her head, hopefully her friends dont catch her at a ratt show! lol. punk sucks.

  • What's up frankiemachine?... Dude I'm going to see them at Viejas Casino on April 20th this freaking Saturday... My clan is going to see them. We are going to have alot of fun. Just a few ***stoners*** that's it. You know there going to be alot of "milfs" just rockin -N- rolling. I'm just going to see them and smile... TRUE ROCKERS STAND UP... :)

  • ur clan?

  • check out "Behind the Rock - Ratt" its priceless!!!

  • yeah dance fuck dance....RATT ROCKS.

  • What sucks is the cool ased tapping toward the end by Warren wasn't even shown in the video!

    ???

They show a TON of Blotz but NONE of the tapping by Warren?

    Bummer...

  • Warren D-Martini was one of the best of the 80's guitar scene along with Snake and Slash.

Will miss big Robin C. Like a GIANT up there on stage!! I was front row for the Invasion and Dance tours. Dude was a monster!

  • RIP big fella. You had incredible stage presence.

  • I see the way that you move. You need a little romance!!

  • One of the best voices in rock, reminds me of reptilian silonz

  • RATT N ROLL FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a fun song. Critics did not what to call it. I even heard the term Dance Metal back in late 1986 when this song & album came out. RATT kicks ass! And by the way I also liked the early MetallicA thrash years. Note I said "MetallicA". I also liked Megadeth, OZZY & Def Leppard. Even hard core stuff like Nuclear Assault _Critical mass. I've gotten into Iron Maiden alot lately. Great lyrics. But Ratt kicks ass and so does RATT & ROLL!!

  • This song rocks-period. Anyone who thinks this is cheesey probably needs to wipe their asses with their sleeve then sniff it.

    RATT ROCKS!!

  • Hi guys i know this may sound like spam bull shit but its not so dont mark it spam plz, im 16 and im in a band thats tryin to bring this stuff back again. All of my bandmates are also 16 and our band name is Livid, but were gettin new name soon. Our setlist right now is sweet cheater(RATT), youre in love(ratt) , sweet little sister(skid row) Mr. Brownstone(gnr)and looks that kill (motley crue). Hopefully more kids our age will make bands that play this stuff too so we can bring it back!

  • ahmen! to that, cause more kids need this rock! and roll! keep it going youngsters!! RATT!' ROLL FOR EVER!!!!

  • Hopefully more kids our age will make bands that play this stuff too so we can bring it back! i will ive only been playing guitar 3 months but as soon as i get to the lvel where i can play this stuff il be in a band shame i wont be able to do concerts as im only 13

  • Keep practicing and you'll get there quickly. ;D I was your age when I started really trying to play guitar.Take lessons, learn from friends, get into bands at school, listen to all the music you can. The more you learn now, the better off you will be in the future.

  • yep i practice about an hour aday and trying to get a band together

  • I'd Join your band if you made one.

  • in england sheffield?

  • I would join your band.

  • im only 13 dont think my parents would be happy about that if i could i probaly would

  • As I sit working on warren and Robin's (r.i.p) riffs, this is great news to a 42 yr old Rattfan i still have fun w/ this stuff and you will! RATT-N-ROLL

  • Dance dance dance .................

  • RATT fucking rocks

  • Even though you said "not bad"...dont judge Ratt by this song. I am a HUGE RATT FAN but this song is very cheesy...there is plenty of other stuff on here to listen to like You Think Youre Tough, Sweet Cheater, Youre in Trouble, Walkin the Dog, etc....that is the GREAT RATT hard stuff.~Cheers~

  • 80s best years ever, although i was not in the 80s i just think those years were the best!!

  • Same with me!

I believe these times can come back. We only have to support young bands that are willing to make this kind of music again!

  • I wish these bands providing feelings like this one could come back - but I'm afraid that music always reflects the general mood of its time, and this time the feelings are.. well judge yourself.

  • Love this song. Awesome keep the rock alive please

  • gr8 song (g2 say tho they looked like girls...) theres the 80s for u (sry for all the parents i just offended

  • great song, and to the guy that recommended Pretty Boy Floyd, Awesome.

  • RATT n ROLL
