I guess everyone has the right to an opinion.. It's too bad you didn't leave a link to your video so that we could critique you. What is it they say about those who can not do...
I know I'm late with this comment, but I used to watch Star Search a long time ago, and my eyes were glued to the show every week!!! I'm so happy Ryan Bonn won!!! That song was so beautiful, so touching, so heartwarning. I can't believe he still doesn't have a CD out yet, because I want to buy it. I wish I had his beautiful singing voice. If I did, I would quit my day job (lol), but I can't, and I sound like an American Idol reject (lol). Thank you so much for uploading and sharing with us :-)
@pauldp12 Unfortunately not yet. I have been hounding him for years about a CD. If you live in the greater San Antonio area you can see him live. BTW, If there are any contributors out there willing to sponsor a CD please let us know... :-)
Thank you so much for the comment. Wish I had the chance to see you on stage when I was in San Francisco. I bet you were Incredible! Love & Peace Always
I do not understand what people are getting so upset about. This man is talented, handsome, seemingly a nice guy, and from what I read, many others think he is very sweet. So, why the negative comments, unless they are the usual bull shit comments about someone who may, or may not be, gay, and the comments that go along with that word. But, nobody is asking anyone to sleep with the guy, just enjoy his music and if you cannot enjoy his music due to his sexuality, then you truly are to be pitied.
I only recently met Ryan here in San Antonio and I'm happy to say that we have started a friendship. I am handling publicity for a new musical revue in which he is appearing: "High Hair and Jalapenos." He has a gorgeous voice and he is a beautiful person inside and out. I am so glad you posted this video - it took my breath away! Thank you!
Great looks and voice !!! Ryan Bonn would be awesome in a Broadway show. What year was this Star Search segment taped? Does anyone know what's happened to Ryan Bonn or what he is doing now? Ryan Bonn should connect with Sam Harris...the 1st Star Search Male Vocalist winner...and both should work together. Both are great singers.
This Star Search episode was in the early 1990's. Ryan is still out there acting, singing and performing. He is VERY WELL know and respected in the San Antonio and Austin areas. Thank you for watching and for the very kind words.
AirborneSergeant - Thank you so much for responding to my questions. So happy to hear Ryan Bonn is still acting, singing and performing. If ever in San Antonio or Austin I would love to see Ryan perform. I hope he has a long run in performing the arts. He's incredibly talented not to mention he has looks that rate a leading-man role in acting !! He has been blessed with great looks and an incredible talent. :)
Amazing Voice! What talent! Cute Guy! Heard about you from our dear friend Jade Esteban Estrada! You have a perfect face to do a dead on Elvis Presley (a younger elvis)!!! Not many guys such a defined face structure for that! GREAT VIDEO! CONGRATS!
Cute guy indeed. He has a great voice for Broadway and performing live in general. Good voice control and he has presence. I can see him doing movie tracks as well. I'd be interested in what style he chooses in a CD.
It's so sad that you feel you have to tear people down to feel better about yourself, especially during this time of year. I doubt you have a fraction of Ryan's talent. I won't delete this hideous comment, just so that if anyone out there would like to respond to this pitiful cry for help they can do so. Merry Christmas, Loser.
I just finished a show with Ryan in San Antonio. One of the most talented and nicest people I've ever met in my 30 years of performing. You wenryapart should do yourself a favor and think before you speak of those you dont know. I know Ryan would never make such a tastless comment to you. You arent fit to carry his gymn bag, and with your attitude will never amount to a fraction of who this incredible talent is !!!
I can't help but thing that if you do not like the kind of music he is singing that you can surely say so, but to say that "he sucks" rahther diminishes your the value of your opinion because, well, adults do notb use the word "sucks" when judging another. You mightg have given an opinion and such, but you blew it with your lack of vocab and rather cruel criticism. One thing that can't be judged is that this fellow has a good voice, whether you like the mucis or not. Give credit where it is due.
Couldn't Agree More! I think a Ryan Bonn CD would be a HUGE Hit & Bestseller! It's really sad in this new world of Reality TV, that people who should be recognized and highlighted are not, and ones who do not deserve FAME get it. Thankx for watching!
Gee, I sure hope so. Otherwise I'd feel Really awkward about all those nights we slept together... Seriously though, Ryan is an incredible, talented, beautiful person. I've loved him since the night we met, and I feel truly lucky & blessed to still have him in my life. Thankx for watching!
oops. I thought this was American Idol...too bad. No wonder I never heard of him. But lucky that Ryan has a publiciist, marketer (possible booking agent), and sexual partner at the same time...good luck!
thanks Keith for this link...I grew up in Ryan's lightning presence back home in Texas. Today in the grief of losing my husband, Ryan's talent is soothing no matter what he performs. Even larger than his talent is his heart. I am blessed that he was such a big part of my life and will never forget his performance of RAGS in his 1 man 1 piano show.
I've had the honor of repeatedly hearing Ryan perform live in San Antonio(Thanks Missy!). This video does not do him justice. He sounds awesome here, but in an intimate theatre setting with just a piano, he can move an audience to tears. His voice has a beautiful clear tonal quality and his higher registers are stunning. He can also play anything he hears on the piano. He is truly a gifted performer and very nice guy. I hope he gets the success he deserves! Good luck Ryan!
Dear Keith ~ Thank you for the kind words! You're right, this video does NOT do Ryan or his talent justice. I wish there were other clips available. You are also right, the first time I heard Ryan really sing aside from around the apartment or in the car, I WAS moved to tears. The song was "Not A Day Goes By," at the Josephine Theater. Luckily, Missy was there to provide a dry shoulder. Ryan is Incredible, and truly deserving of every success. Peace, Love & Thankx!
I am also a singer, but don't have the courage to perform. Ryan's voice is very nice. Many people don't seem to understand how difficult it is to sing these days, in part because of American Idol. So many people think that if u don't sing the way that American Idol performers sing then u can't sing. When a man has a high-pitched tone, many people still find it to be unwanted. They don't know how special it is for a man to sing alto.
Be Brave! "We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented, & fabulous?" Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a Child of God. Your playing SMALL does not serve the World. There is Nothing Enlightened about shrinking so that others won't feel insecure around you. As we let our Own Light Shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fears, our presence automatically liberates others." ~ Nelson Mandela said it best!
Airborne: it's a common mistake, perpetuated on the Web: but Mandela never said this. It was written by Marianne Williamson in one of her books. Great quote, nonetheless.
I don't want to fight either. B'cuse I think it is one one of the greatest quotes ever, from a truly GREAT man and a true inspiration. But Nelson Mandela did include this qoute in his 1994 South African Presidential Inaugural Speech. An yes, I know he was quoting spiritual leader Marianne Williamson of the Church of Today in Detroit. I did not have room to fully attribute, or use the entire passage, unfortunately. Thank You, MW should get more credit.
My friend John, who lives in New Mexico had the idea to post this video from 1994. All I remember is being incredibly nervous, thinking that the entire future of my career depended on my performance. I couldn't have been more wrong. At that time (pre- American Idol) StarSearch was something of a washed up joke. To make matters more frustrating the two most important markets (LA/NY) aired the program in the wee hours of the morning. No one saw it. I did get an offer to do some porn. I should have

Good to see a guy do what is traditionally a woman's song.
Listen to the full version by someone like Sarah Brightman.
Then imagine Ryan doing the FULL version. More cute guys should do this number!
