@johnay3ch You're right, amazing solo. Why do you feel like dismissing Berg as sounding like Brecker? I dunno, I see where you're coming from but I don't hear it. Sounds like prime Bob Berg to me.
The 3 dislikes are from brainless morons that listen to hip hop & think that shit is good music... This video is just went right over the top of their heads and they just dont get it. Mike Stern & Bob Berg are both consumate virtuosos & demonstrate here why jazz musicians are the best on the planet... Period!
I don't understand how anyone can actually dislike something like this. It doesn't make sense. The only reason I can come up with is that 3 aliens that came from a planet where unbelievable music is punishable by death somehow intercepted this video and clicked dislike.
chad..I guess youve never seen the great jazz trumpet player dizzy gillespe play? His cheeks blow out like a blow fish! But what comes out is the bottom line.. so close your eyes if you find it distracting.. and enjoy genius! By the way I'm an alto player.. and when the juice is REALLY flowing... makin is look easy... AINT EASY!
Um, excuse me? I spelled aneurysm right didn't I? That's a big word that requires a big huge brain to spell. It just so happens that Bob Berg's face gives me a head ache whenever I watch him play, He's a burning sax player though. It's not like I hate his playing, I just wish he'd make it look more easier than trying to push an elephant out of your anus, that's all.
haha i know what you mean. but when i watch him play (RIP), i feel like he's really putting everything he's got into the notes, so it makes me feel better about my own playing that he looks like he's really trying, even though he probably isn't. whereas when i play, i want to cry because i cant even wrap my head around his technique. love his playing though
If you look beside the fact that youtube completely destroys the sound quality - this is the best sounding clip I've ever heard of any of these guys! Kudos to the sound-mixer-guy!!!
BTW the cuts in this clip...feels like a knife in your heart.. I've got the whole clip somewhere at home.
Doesn't anybody know if it's possible to get this concert in its entirety? That would be awesome... lets trade!
I'm trying to learn to play this song... Trying to play along with this guy is crazy.
Such a great song. It's almost as catchy as an Aqua song but with the added bonus of not resulting in the desire to smash your head against a brick wall :P
two of my favorite solos of all time, bob berg and mike stern are two of my biggest influences. i just got back from a funk gig and this music is heavenly with the buzz of playing live
La primera vez que vi y escuche a Mike Stern fue en el canal Film & Arts. Se presentaba en un club de jazz de Nueva York y recuerdo que una chica tocaba la bateria de manera increible. El sonido de la guitarra es muy personal. Me gusta mucho.
I actually saw Stern, Dave Weckl, Bob Berg & Anthony Jackson at a club in West Chicago, IL in the mid 1990's. I saw 4 feet from Mike Stern. I was so dumbfounded at what I just saw and heard at the end of the concert that I was almost silent on the ride home! What GOD GIVEN talent! I miss Bob Berg. I hope he's playing this lick for God right now.
How in the hell do you chop a smoking sax solo like that? That's music abuse, who ever posted this should lose all right to listen to music except Jimmy Buffet.
Great stuff. I've got CDs of Stern and Berg and have seen both live, but never together. Great performance, but what's with the skips in the video? Are those edits, or just some kind of dropouts?
Wow! Hard to believe ... Stern and Berg are all over each others early solo albums and toured extensively with each other. This tune is my favorite of their collaborations.
An amazing solo and technique, but why do I feel like like I'm listening to Michael Brecker?

Every time Lincoln slaps his bass I want to slap him. He's a good player but his tone is awful and he slaps like a 12 year old.
