Are you dutch? Well, incase you are not i write this in english.

You know why an afterburner gets the nice flow in it's ride (without a contra weight)?

When you are at the dead point in a swing, an afterburner gives al little bit gas to the way it swings. for axample, you swing to the left, at the dead piont it gives al little bit gas to the left, so your arm will not go back imediatly, by gravitty. And otherwise to the right swing. I hope you understand what i am saying and helps you.

@sparsky10 The platforms go down with pneumatic cylinders. It had a motorized lego compressor under the platforms to get air pressure.
