Not a bad song but I always hated that horrible 80s drum/rhythm sound. It was everywhere at this time and ruined lots of good songs. Every producer wanted to copy that sterile and hollow sound that seemed to be coming out of Europe
Who ever directed/edited the original program deserves a good kick in the 'nads for wasting a golden oportunity to get some footage of Perri Lister dancing!
If it was filmed in front of a live audience it was considered 'live.'
The shows producers probably worried Billy wouldn't be able to sing steadily while jumping around, or he could have partied too much the night before & his voice sounded crappy...
Sometimes the logic then was it wasn't worth wasting the performers voice for a tv show. Prob. thought the tv viewers wouldn't notice, since most people didn't have vcr recorders at this point either.

@bigtwit - and at :34 the microphone falls out of it's holster and it makes no sound whatsoever once it hits the stage!

Saw Billy Idol in a smallish club in Columbia, MO in 2005. The man still has 'it', whatever 'it' is. Great show.

Oh my god this "live" performance is so lip synched.
Sounds way too much like the studio version.
You can even tell at some point he moves away from the mic and the level of his voice stays contstant!
