Also, sorry for taking that joke seriously at all, but I do feel the need to establish that the reason many white South Africans left the country was not racism, but because the country was poorly off, and only now could their passports actually be accepted. I don't want to come off as one of those minority groups that's offended by everything, but I really haven't met any white South Africans who are still racist at all - they certainly wouldn't be in another country.
But he comes from an area of Albania that was part of Macedonia (Protip; all of it)

But you still have yet to prove anything. He COULD'VE been left handed. And there is some evidence, as I said. Several urns had him as left handed. And he could be from an area and culture that would count him as an Albanian ancestor.

Alexander the Great was born in Pella, which is quite definitely not in Albania. Albania didn't exist at the time, and even the closest contemporary Epirus did not include Pella. Of course, Alexander's mother was a member of the royal house of Epirus, but that doesn't make Alexander an Albanian or even an Epirote.
But I guess it would have been a bit too easy if they'd called him Macedonian.
Maybe it's a north or west Texas saying, lived in south Texas. It's a big state, bigger than than Brittan, so someone some where at some point might have said it.

(ok, the tobacco chewing part's true).

@zacheryandersen You're not overly serious at all are you? :D No need to make such harsh judgements about people you don't know. Take a chill pill mein Spanischen freund :P Or are you even spanish?! :-0
and here was i thinking that alexander the great was actually greek and phillip II was king of the macedon as in the ancient greek region of macedonia, neither albania nor the 18 years old Republic of Macedonia
Nope, he was defiantly a Macedonian born in what is now Albania. The Greeks regarded the Macedonians as being somewhere between true Greeks and the barbarian Thracians and Dalmatians who lived in the northern Balkans
At that time there was no shared hellenic culture greece was composed of city states and the myth that they considered Macedonians barabric is untrue.
Interesting, I'm perfectly prepared to believe that but from what I have seen it does seem to me that the Greeks had a shared culture in a very similar way to how many Western European nations do today. They certainly produced very similar art, architecture warfare and language.
As for Macedonians, that I am less sure about but they were on the boarder of where the city states of the Hellenics broke down to a more tribal culture-The Romans made the differentiation even if the Greeks didn't.
bokdrol spugen...although it's probably spelled different in Afrikaans (my take on it is dutch, which is kind of similar to it). Sounds gross though...
I read in history books alexander's father ridiculed him when he sang for sounding like an eunuch, that would imply he had a fairly high voice when he sang at the very least.
i thought it was hitler

Ciaran0Cathain 9 months ago
@Ciaran0Cathain Well since you actually Googled Rick Perry and took the time to tell me so it leads me to believe it was not a joke, you're full of shit and a pretentious douche bag. Comprende amigo?

greendaygal63 2 years ago
and here was i thinking that alexander the great was actually greek and phillip II was king of the macedon as in the ancient greek region of macedonia, neither albania nor the 18 years old Republic of Macedonia
metikasma 2 years ago
well at least now you know the truth!!! (just kidding by the way)
MrMattinahatt 2 years ago
Nope, he was defiantly a Macedonian born in what is now Albania. The Greeks regarded the Macedonians as being somewhere between true Greeks and the barbarian Thracians and Dalmatians who lived in the northern Balkans
Balsiefen 2 years ago 4
At that time there was no shared hellenic culture greece was composed of city states and the myth that they considered Macedonians barabric is untrue.
SilentwolfGRRR 2 years ago 3
Interesting, I'm perfectly prepared to believe that but from what I have seen it does seem to me that the Greeks had a shared culture in a very similar way to how many Western European nations do today. They certainly produced very similar art, architecture warfare and language.
As for Macedonians, that I am less sure about but they were on the boarder of where the city states of the Hellenics broke down to a more tribal culture-The Romans made the differentiation even if the Greeks didn't.
Balsiefen 2 years ago
@SilentwolfGRRR Actually they might have since barbarians were not people who where uncivilized, rather they were people who did not speak Greek.
undeadpink99 2 years ago
very good point however the educated elite of macedon spoke greek so they certainly thought Alexander was civilized

VivaCutiePie19 2 years ago
and colin farrel deffinately wasnt short, and with a squeaky voice in the movie alexander
lookatwig 2 years ago
How the fuck could they know he had a squeaky voice and in histroical documents he was known as tall
VivaCutiePie19 2 years ago
I read in history books alexander's father ridiculed him when he sang for sounding like an eunuch, that would imply he had a fairly high voice when he sang at the very least.
echelonslostangel 2 years ago 2
Fathers would often ridicule there sons toughen them up in those days
besides alex was a kid at the time
VivaCutiePie19 2 years ago
