  • @crzygutrsnobrdr The only one really modded is the '94 S4 that has all the Euro RS2 turbo mods along with driveline, brake and suspension mods. That was my project before the Z06.

  • lol i got a Mercedes Benz CL55 AMG Supercharged/TwinTurbo engine.. my dad had it swooped up so it can hit 0-60 in 2.7-3.2 seconds.. its fast we versed the Z06 Corvette, Charger, Challenger, 2010 Camaro, Dodge Viper, GT Mustang, Nissan iforgot what kind but it had a z at the end and the Lambo gallardo.. and more nd i won all of them with 2 seconds or more.. the 206 was quick.. probably the closest.. nd i do street races.. once the light turns green im gone lol.. i love this car..

  • STS turbos. and yes that is them that you see below the bumper on both sides. You could hear the original turbos whine (like on the STS ads) but when I upgraded to the bigger 60-1BB turbos you stopped being able to hear them at all. Whatever sound they make it totally overshadowed by the loud exhaust noise. 1st trip to the drag strip is tonight if the weather cooperates and I will post video if i can get any. Car should be faster than before....

  • @Boogie01Man HAHA good one. They take a little bit to spool but it's not generally a problem. Check out my latest videos at Pueblo Motorsports Park. Couldn't do that if the turbos weren't spooling.

  • Are you guys blind or just stupid? I can CLEARLY see the turbos right under the rear bumper. Go google a picture of "sts twin turbo c5 zo6" go to page 3, 3rd picture from the left on the top. Oh what do you know, looks like the EXACT THING HERE. Every stock STS kit i've ever heard and seen in person didnt spool that much while being revved, but under heavy load/in boost they scream.

  • It does sound like he's turbo'd. At 0:35- 0:36 you can sort of hear what sounds like a turbo spool while the rpm's are climbing back down. It's definitely not an STS rear mount turbo system because you would hear it clearly. On an STS turbo system, the exhaust tips are pretty much the outlet of gasses for the turbo, so it would be noticeable.

  • Correct, you do hear it spooling at 35-36, and it is a STS kit. You can clearly see the turbos under the bumper. Not only that, but STS's dont really spool that much while revved, while under constant load/in boost they scream.

  • You can see the rear mounted turbos easily in the video. Look up STS rear mount turbo kits for that vette and compare the pics.

  • I'm watching the video on a 65 inch tv 1080p. I can't see them. I know what rear mount turbo's are my bubby has them on his lt4 ss camro and I seen them installed on a new vette on the show GEARS on the speed channel. I 'm not saying they aren't on there but it doesn't look like it and damn sure don't sound like it.

  • There is not a turbo on that car. If there was you would be able to hear the spool of the turbo when he revs up the car. you would especially be able to hear it if the turbos were mounted in back and ran through the exhaust.

  • exhaust spins the turbine in the center of the turbo which produces boost that is sent into the intercooler to cool the engine and force air into the cylinder

  • I saw your videos at the track - fuckin car screws ! I wonder how much quicker the turbo's make the car ? I would guess 1 - 2 seconds quicker in the quarter mile - yeah or nay ?

  • Probably about 2 sec. It has been a real challenge to get the car to run these times at our 6000ft elevation track. The turbo's help a huge amount but they would work better with an automatic.

  • My most recent video includes 4 runs at the drag strip. That's the best I've got until next spring when the roads clear but I'll keep your comment in mind and try to get more fun videos in the future.

  • The engine was built and installed by Peter at Dragon Race Engineering in Broomfield, CO. The turbo installation, tuning and most of the other worksince then I have done myself.

  • I agree that a few C5s had problems with interior adhesives, but very early C6s had more problems. C5 interior quality was supposed to be pretty decent from what I heard :dunno:

  • Well, my c5 z06 interior is ok Besides the middle consol witch broke, And chev wants 250$ to replace it. And also, the windshield squirter button popped off, so now it doesn't work... That's also 300$ fix.. It's freaking ridiculous, any thing from the dealer is major over priced, and it was cheap plastic shit to begin with. And even onto the c6 they still used cheap plastic bits everywhere.

    The engine suspension and chassis is great, but the interior design team needs a swift kick in the nuts.

  • Thanks for the comments. Yes, I did the turbos but had a shop build and install the 402. I looked at your vids. Nice house and what a clothsline! Nice Wolf too! The Husky is long and tall but only 60 lbs. They might get along as he thinks he is a Wolf.

  • I'm sorry but am I the only person who noticed that a 2002 Z06 has an LS6 in it and not an LS2? Unless he did a swap or something...but that would be pointless....

  • Good Catch. The point is simply that a stock LS6 pushed to 800+hp won't live long. So we started with an LS2 block (402ci with no block mods)and built it for 1000hp.

  • You are right but notice the smow piles - it wasnt being driven much during Winter and the track was closed. Click on "more fromm this user" and see the drag clip. I am running high 10's now and will get another clip soon.

  • Everything is a trade-off. Underhood Corvette C5 turbo systems are complicated, difficult to install, make it impossible to change plugs, etc and have major heat issues. I went rear mount so I could instll myself and to avoid all the other issues. The downside is I think it takes longer to spool up. This car has since made over 900 hp on a dyno but at the drag strip I have to power shift because if I don't, then I am not spending enough time on boost. I'll post some drag strip vids soon.

  • i know but i was wacking two guys garage and they said there is no room in the hood for turbos so they hocked it close to the exaust

  • on a corvette dont you put the turbo under the car because the engine room is to crowded

  • Its better to put the turbos closer to the engine, that way the turbos are more efficient. But everyone has their own reason for rear mount versus front mount..

  • I am happy with them. Easy to install and no heat issues. Relatively low intake air temperatures too. I can't really compare to the same car with front mount turbos as I haven't had or driven one.

    my dad has a c5 and hes doin some work with the exhausts and also putting in a cool air intake im not sur what else hes doin but this is pretty nice..

  • Altitude here is 6000 ft so a traditional low compression small cam motor runs pretty weak until the boost comes up. We went with a little more cam and compression so the car would be more fun to drive. It pulls hard down low and recently put 800 to the tires on the dyno at 13 psi so it seems to have worked.
