@nicollettePerfect ummm...not really. Her call can be loud but overall I would not say she is overly loud. Ringies are louder than a cockatiel, but quieter than a sun conure :o)
@CaptinObvious1995 It depends on how tolerable to noise your neighbours are. My inside birds generally only start making noise when it is raining or when they hear me getting their fruit and veg ready. Most of the time they are fairly quiet. Giving plenty of toys and things to do helps prevent boredom.
@mybirdies My IRP is very sweet and has a very gentle persona. He really does not make a lot of noise. All he does is randomly shout his name and do the odd scream otherwise he is quiet. :)
@mybirdies My ring neck just turned a year old this month!!! it does at times opens up its wings and then does this thing called clucking like ur bird does where it gets down low and puts its head up... so now we think its a female haha
these parrots r so funny....mine is so misschivious....he gets angry at petty things....he is a complete foodie....indian ringnecks love food....they r so loving and adorable
@unity100 I know Jasper is a girl, have said it many times and also in the description of this video and I am well aware she 'wants to mate'. For the record she has a male. Some of my birds behave like this OUTSIDE of breeding times. One hen does this all year round even though she has also a male with her.
@mybirdies This is not a mating sign. Instead, it is a sign of affection and love. Mine does this all the time. I used to freak out but talked to a vet and he said it was a sign of affection. Make sure you kiss your feather friend many times when she does this. I have a yellow male and blue female. Cute birds, aren't they?
@unity100 when a parrot 'bonds' to its owner, they consider you as their lifetime companion and aren't interested in another bird. in the spring- mating season- they'll often lay eggs for you. animals tend to bond more deeply and have more unconditional love than most humans.
@Theluckyhotdog2 lol apologies for the confusion. There is a scene in a movie called 'Dumb and Dumber' I was quoting from. I take it you havent seen it. All good :)
@Theluckyhotdog2 Sorry, I have to correct you there 'Pretty Birdie' actually should have sticky tape all around it like that scene from 'Dumb and Dumber' :p lol. This one doesnt ;) Great video..what a beautiful little creature. Makes me miss owning parrots!
wow what a jasper is a beautiful bird! he is showing such unconditional love to his owner. thats how a human-bird bond should be. reminds me of my GCC and the way he shows his love. thanks for posting!
@loverofmythology When they 'Pin' their eyes, they are usually not happy. and it's a warning sign that they may bite. My ringneck did that, and he was v...a nasty biter
@Aquabelly, pinning can indicate any extreme emotion- excitement, anger, fear, joy- my birds will pin while eating their favorite treats. unless you are certain which emotion is causing them to pin their pupils, it's definitely safer to give them their space... been there ;-[
@mybirdies you should walk away from her when she does it when she stops go back to her!!! Never pet the back of her only the head!!! Let me know what happens and Good Luck :-)
This footage was taken outside of the breeding times and she was quite young at the time. She continually behaved in this manner for over a year. EVERY time I went near her, she behaved like this, even if I did not touch her. If I walked away from her every time she did this, I would not have a tame ringie any more.
I have young birds that behave in this fashion, (although not quite so 'full on'), even at the age of just a few months old.
I fully understand she was coming into breeding mode. I have been keeping and breeding birds for some time. What should I do? She is my pet, should Ignore her and not pay her any attention just because she is in breeding mode?? Do you stop petting a cat or dog when they are in season?? Afterall, any type of physical contact could be taken as teasing to any animal in season!
she is a female in heat asking for mating not enjoying only scratching in my opinion thats not nice for here i see only videos of single Latino if u have one for couple it well be nice , but u have nice healthy bird .

That's sorta creepy, but I didn't realize birds let you pat them. I have a cockatiel, and he lets me give him a scratch on the necka and round the back, but I thought he was just a weird exception.
Also, whys your birds eyes keep dilating then retracting?
@likitty20 From about the age of 2-3 yrs old, males develop a black ring around the neck, females don't. :o)
Under 2 it's a 'guessing' game as neither birds do not display the ring. DNA or surgical sexing is the only way. Some people say they can guess a birds sex by behaviour but I have personally seen a mature male, (with ring), display like a hen towards another bird.
She is so adorable!
I'm waiting on DNA results for our blue IRN, he/she wont be ready to come home until April but I am waitng on pins and needles!
Loved the video :)

I have seen a few females who does do the male heart shaped wings every now and then. How old is your ringneck?
mybirdies 6 months ago
@mybirdies My ring neck just turned a year old this month!!! it does at times opens up its wings and then does this thing called clucking like ur bird does where it gets down low and puts its head up... so now we think its a female haha
mandypandy1407 6 months ago
@mandypandy1407 My two female IRNS do this AAAAALLL the time in Spring. On the other hand, my male does it very rarely.
Easiest way to tell if your IRN is male or female, of course, is to wait until it's a year old and see if a ring develops :D
