I just feel that this undermines all that they have tried to make tribal about as a performance. What happened to the rachel brice that could just stand on stage and hardly move, expressionless, the whole audience captivated and in complete awe at her alien and otherworldly presence. I dont think she realised she didn't need to do anymore than that. For me anyway, that performance broke the spell that is the Great Rachel Brice.

I've only just come across Rachel Brice and yes I think she is amazing, but people have to move on. You have to change your act and move forward with the times. This act is a bit of fun and it's got a great comedy factor about it. I think it's great that she can appeal to more than just one type of audience.

I absolutely LOVED this whole entire performance. I have to say that what the Indigo is incorporating into their repetoire is a more "whole" performance than ever. Bellydance can get flat and as an entertainer, this is SUCH a pleasure to see the dimensions ever growing/evolving.... it inspires me, makes me laugh and I think after seeing them, I feel like I want to start acting classes!

This is such a clever performance and choreography. Cute and inspiring while still dancing excellently (as these ladies always do). OMG. All the haters HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. This performance was CLEARLY, OBVIOUSLY AND PURPOSELY meant to be a comedic act. It was hilarious and positively adorable.

As for this business about technique... They kicked ass as always! The layering was fantastic and they make it look easy (as always again). If certain people can't take the BROOMSTICK out of their butts and see the fun in this performance, then they need to close their eyes and sweep their crap someplace else.

I have seen Mardi and Rachel perform this live, a couple of months ago. It is a satirical piece - a tongue in cheek performance, poking fun at the hype that surrounds them (ie the very same 'groupie' mentality that some seem to despise so). Oh the irony.

Take a look at the actual technique and layering that they are effortlessly throwing in. Not something that many could pull off effectively. I think it's charming, funny and wonderfully performed.

A tribal fusion bellydancer these days is always looking for a new spin and new style. I commend Rachel and Mardi for trying something new and original. This dance is not degrading or disrespectful at all. This dance was not my fav and I don't believe it accurately portrayed the loads of talent both Mardi and Rachel have, but it's main goal was to be cute and to entertain.

the girls are working vintage vaudeville into their current tour of Le Serpent Rouge. Now, this piece is part of a comical routine and is an ode to the memory and history of early American entertainment. It is in no way "degrading" or "low". I commend these wonderful women for the historical nod and as a tribal bellydancer and a historian I applaud them!
