i remember competing with them at the Clinton battle of the bands that year, they came in first, we came in second(St. Helena), and Washington Marion looked like trash that year
yes in deed we were dope that year. in my case for me this was my ticket out of alexandria..my entire family is talented with music.. i am so thankful i went to the highschool my parents graduated from. i am makalani okpara jones. scream team, trumpet line..baby southern forreal.. we blew out bands from coast to coast.. shout out to my cousin jamal franklin "big mal", snapper kool reg ,doobie, doc jr. big doc. escano, kyle rachal, mathew l,clyde lecour, aubrey, spageetballz, jathangathang THX DOC!
@tarynlacour what do you mean "had" a great band? We still are a good band, if you ask me we've improver. Producing many talented people out this band we have students going more than just SU and Gsu there at Txsu and now su(Norfolk) Thanks to the greatest band director in the world
yep, thats the problem with most high school band programs, no one is deditcated enough to do the work, if we look back at high school band videos such as this one, all of them were rolling deep in any kinda marching style, corp, military and show band style, 1985 at SU, had to be the largest i ever seen them in that time, but if we can just get kids off the video games and stuff, every band will have a good size program going, but keep up all hard work, trust me, it will pay off lol
wow. the true peabody high band. almost every school back then had rifle guards cause my middle school and high school bands had them. students back then were more dedicated to band than they are today.
