  • In 2001 (I think it was) the US FDA asked for voluntary removal of all comfrey containing herbal remedies from shelves. Personally I have never used comfrey and never will do.

  • I always thought that poss. humans could tolerate the levels of toxins, but a medical research doctor who I talked to suggests that rat DNA is potentially more resiliant to human type, and a professor of oncology doing one of my courses said that all you need is that 'one hook' in your DNA to trigger a problem.

  • Hi. Will send in 2 parts.... Offhand I don't have refs.but in Sept. 2006 a scientific paper looking at the mutation of rat DNA, having been fed an extract of comfrey root, was published. Showed that markers were being mutated by comfrey constituents. It was a follow-up paper to a quantative study by same group of scientists a few years previously.

  • is there any literature or primary sources that verify or at the very least support your statement at the beginning - to "never eat comfry"? and would that include other relatives such as bee bread?
