Josh is probably the closest they'll get to John but he obviously isn't him. Flea had mentioned they weren't trying to replace the void John left behind. I personally can't get into the Peppers album. I gave it a fair shot but it just isn't the same. This album is where my RHCP journey ends - for now, perhaps.

This is one of my favorite chili pepper songs, I love the solo at the end. Its almost spiritual. I always see people on youtube trying to understand lyrics and they always feel their way is right. Not saying my viewpoint is correct but the lyrics to this song always have me imagining Anthony walking along the beach with the spirit of the Venice Queen. Her spirit does not form in the wet sand, his foot prints do.

Listen to mother's milk album then listen to up this mofo party plan, you'll see a clear influence on the guitar playing, so don't in-directly insult a guitar legend.
yes i do know more then an average joe does about the rhcp. what you are forgetting is that hillel didn't even like the idea of rhcp as a bad. he only considered it a side project. and when he finally did return to the band he was a heroin addict which caused tension in the bad. no doubt he was a great guitarist and a big influence, but he never contributed as much as the others.
By wet sand he means, that wet sand is not sturdy. Its always changing and moving, and he is saying he cant form in the wet sand because once it drys it becomes solid and does not change. @2099F well, i believe it all depends on the individual. and i didnt say i cried because of problems or anything, i cried of joy and how overwhelming the feeling is. this song took me back through some memories. and why shouldnt a man cry like that? should a man only hold in his emotions and eventually break down? what difference does it make if a guy cries or not? hes still the person he is and crying wont change that. people react differently.
