Did anyone notice how they're talking about insurance? That tells me the adult may have actually been injured by the child. When skiing, the person downhill from you has the right of way. If they stop or turn, you need to avoid them. Basically, you are responsible if you injure someone below you. In the US, an injury could mean $20K+ in surgery.
Also, if the person "grabbed" the child, why didn't the family launch a criminal assault investigation? It all sounds very fishy to me.

As a ski instructor the young boy clearly tried avoiding the man, but reaction was limited due to time and distance....the slopes are like roads, you just don't slam your car into park while driving through traffic! best of luck for the little boy
Sorry this happened to the kid but the Skiers Code states "Ski under control and in such a manner so that you can stop at any time or avoid other skiers or objects" as part of buying a lift ticket you accept all terms of the skiers code. this is a hard way to learn that lesson.

The chances that this sudden "turn" was an attempt to stop are highly likely if the actual incident happened the way the video showed, and that would be stopping in the middle of the trail, which is also against the code that you speak of.

The story said that the guy pulled the kid back down to the ground, and started saying how he was going to sue. Right then and there parents shouldve pressed assault charges against the guy. Let him try to press his lawsuit from inside a jail cell. This is what happens when you try to be nice to people.

@timclassic lawyers are so funny, because they don't know anything about the court system in fact most of them when compared to the judge are laughed at. they don't look at both sides only one side and thats the clients side of the story, a good lawyer looks at both sides, the man stopped abruptly, kid had no time to react and went around abrupt skiier, man now pissed grabs kid, threatens him, and then throws him to the ground. Man was obviously not hurt in any way shape or form.

Dose it ever occur to you that you should press charges for child abuse for him grabbing your kid after the incident happened. You not only should file a complaint about your insurer and fire your lawyer but what he did to your kid is child abuse being that he is not related.

dude, I went riding 4 days ago. this girl my age (lower 20s) was totally out of control and plowed right into me. she was going way too fast and lost control. she didnt say sorry or anything, practically hit and run. I had to go to the ER and get a CT scan and xrays because her skis went into my skull and spine. ive been recovering from a concussion for days, have minor brain damage, a $5000 bill, and I didnt even consider a lawsuit. This poor 7 y/o kid. thats bull shit. major law suit abuse.

Skier code states - You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above. Didn't this guy stop in the middle of the trail? As a ski instructor the young boy clearly tried avoiding the man, but reaction was limited due to time and distance....the slopes are like roads, you just don't slam your car into park while driving through traffic! best of luck for the little boy

Sorry this happened to the kid but the Skiers Code states "Ski under control and in such a manner so that you can stop at any time or avoid other skiers or objects" as part of buying a lift ticket you accept all terms of the skiers code. this is a hard way to learn that lesson.

The chances that this sudden "turn" was an attempt to stop are highly likely if the actual incident happened the way the video showed, and that would be stopping in the middle of the trail, which is also against the code that you speak of.
This kid was SEVEN YEARS OLD. How often does this happen? All the time. So are you then saying that this should happen all the time?

The family should have counter sued both the plaintiff AND the lawyers who took the case! They should have BOTH been sued for "pain and suffering" that the child went through. I'm sure he would need therapy and I bet he can't go to a nice private school because his grades dropped. Counter sue! We need the ability to sue!
