I'm not familiar with these Yamaha's since I'm working on Mackie HR824's, but placed close to the wall like this should not be an issue considering most quality nearfields have a selectable low freq filter to adjust.
But again, not familiar with these monitors so not sure if they have a low-freq filter. If not, basstrap 'm.

@OrangeGuy8000 A soundcard, that's all. And some wires to connect the speakers to the soundcard :) If you are buying the HS80's for music production purposes, make sure you buy yourself a good 24bit soundcard designed for music production, for the best sound quality, and to also get the best results out of the monitors. I use the Yamaha HS80's too, and they are very nice & accurate monitors. I use them in a fully acoustic foam treated room, and that will also help the monitors true performance
@OrangeGuy8000 You will need a external or audio interface, like apogee duet, great portable device. Or any device that provides balanced/unbalanced outputs.
Any chance that you've also heard the Yamaha MSP7's? I really want to know what people think about them as compared to the HS80M's, but there are very few reviews.
@sonico73 I know I've read the manual :) I dont use to mix on them at home (wich is where they are in the video) I've taken them to various studios if I want to mix on them. this is just a random setup to playback some music :)
@sonico73 Isn't there a room control function on the back to fix the over bass from being to close to the walls? and if you tired them how well do they work on the HS80's
Yeap you are right the controls behind your Hs80m works great however the purpose of this controls its to cut or boost some frequencies that you lack in your room its doesn't control the distance of near and far from the wall but certainly helps a little bit if you know what frequency are lacking in your room. The room needs to be acoustically treat and test so you know exactly the sweet spot for your monitors. when they are close to the wall it will give you a false frequency or a false bass
My best buy in my life :) I got a pair of these and they sound beautiful. They can go so loud with out losing performance and it has alot of low-freq power put also the , High /mid- freq is powerful , this is a perfekt song for testing what its capeble to do :) very nice :)
@GranulatedStuff Yes I am definetly happy with the HS-80M I'd rate them 8/10
they are the best in there price range in my opinion. I have had them in a studio setup and compared them with different models. I'm using them for almost two years now.
@GranulatedStuff No problem if you have more questions maybe I can awnser them. oh and I forgot to mention that these sound better then the HS-50M due too the HS-80M" woofer.
one question; are they worth the money? I bought a pair a couple of days ago - waiting for the delivery.
Limpfittz 2 months ago
@Limpfittz definately, best ones in their range and they compete with ones that are way more expensive

В моей акустической среде, они звучат по-лучше)) Значительней. Вы даже половину звука не выжали, субъективно конечно.

@sonico73 Yes, but they also have a room control switch at the back if you are limited with space and have to have them close to the back wall.

Yamaha said that the monitors to close to the wall it wont give a accurate frequency response in bass will add Bass and your mix will be inaccurate

@BENBOOST9 those are 120W each :) and a hi fi system is equalized to sound bassy therefore you're not hearing the true sound.

@BENBOOST9 You think the mic from an iPhone can capture the Low-freq from these speakers? lol, i'd suggest you go look for a pair and listen to them.
