Who cares about the mostly overdone triple axel pursued by other athletes?? Wagner has substance, style, flow, energy, grace, elements, and beauty added to her figure skating profile! What do other figure skaters have that Ashley doesn't??
There are only two girls in the world that a triple axel right now, and the last time there were two ladies witha triple axel was more than 15 years ago, my point being that it is not an end all be all skill.
By have the Triple Lutz/Triple Loop Ashley's programs will be very competitive going into 2010 because really only Asada, Ando, and Nakano can do better.
Goodness gracious she's excellent! Call me old fashioned but I prefer the flow and artistry of her skating to the rallying-off-a-bunch-of-jumps-with-hand-gestures-as-opposed-to-real-choreography in between we've seen from most of the other girls since the new(ish) scoring system came into place. Plus, some of her jumps are just outright beautiful.
She isn't receiving -3 GOE marks from the judges. Her flutz isn't severe enough to warrant that type of GOE. At Nationals she didn't even receive a single negative GOE in either the short or long program on the lutz/loop, probably because the change of edge is so brief before the actual jump. At most on the international level I'd say it's a -1 GOE and doesn't deserve any worse.

It's actually incorrect that she landed 7 triples for the first time here; I think she was also credited for 7 triples in her 2007 Jr Worlds LP.

It's such a shame that she flutzes- She gets negative GOE everytime she does a Lutz!
instead of getting around 12 points for her 3-3 (11.00 base with a +1 for GOE) she winds up with 8 points- because of the -3 GOE!
So she throws away 4 points on the combo and a further 3 points on the solo lutz! :(
She should do 3 flip/3 loop instead and only have one lutz
