How can you bear to watch this film every other year. I don't think I could ever get myself to watch it more than once. It's a very good film, but it just completely tears you apart emotionally. I think only a masochist can keep watching it over and over.

@ztruffles Hi, just saw your question...I tutored Riccardo Scamarcio. Got to spend a lot of fun times together with him & his friends while he visited NY. Riccardo is an incredibly talented actor with a real respect for the art of acting. Plus, he's one of the funnest & funniest people I've had a chance to meet. Riccardo is in one of the last scenes in the film. An outstanding actor & person! I hope to see him soon in US film projects!

Matteo and Nicola is a complete opposite to each other.

Nicola is an optimist,Matteo is a pessimist.And the list goes on.However they don't want to live without each other.Nicola's wife is as hardheaded as his brother while Matteo's girlfriend is as charming as Matteo.When it comes down to the core,this film story is only about brother's love.

I kinda felt that Matteo was more of an optomist than Nicola and that was why he was unable to cope with the vile and imperfections of the world while Nicola could. When they were both unable to save Guilia Nicola was sad but moved on...Matteo just fell apart unable to deal with the reality that there are horrible people in the world and you can't save everyone.

what a masterspiece! bravo. but i didn't like how Giorgia was kept from the beauty salon after she was in the care of Nicola. shame on him. WTH? she was beautiful! ah, i guess they wanted us to think that "Dr. Nicola" wouldn't fall inlove with such a tormented friend. hmmm. i actually wanted Matteo to hook up with Georgia before he met Mirella!

Mirella stole my soul with her infinite beauty ;) I wanted to KISS HER in her darkroom, not on the boat! lol

Thanks so much for posting this clip with English subtitles. I remember seeing this film on TV here in Canada and I loved it :) But I haven't been able to find it on dvd here - still it's lovely to see clips of the film
