Obesity is more often a problem of what you eat rather than how much you eat. people who eat three fulls meals a day have HEALTHIER weights than people who skip on or more to try and lose weight. food companies don't use unhealthy ingredients to harm us, they use them because unhealthy ingredients are cheaper, and food made with unhealthy ingredients is as well, cheaper.
why is everyone in this video obese??? i thought people were supposed to be starving... this all makes no sense. yes i'm sure all of them are hungry.... but who wouldn't be hungry if you ate ALL your problems away. this is a JOKE. truly a BIG FAT JOKE. if you went to a third world country they would laugh at you if you told them you were a STARVING AMERICAN. Are you kidding me?? America has too much HAND TO MOUTH ACTION. F***in' go on a run!
Did you read the second phrase in the video. "Food Insecurity means the lack of access to enough food...or to NUTRITIOUS FOOD." Like below. It's possible to be fat and malnourished. Sure, these people might not ever be "hungry", but they'll die of other problems that arise because of their malnourishment that is a direct result of their food insecurity.
@DavidMPetty do you honestly think that any of these people that are getting food stamps are going to make the healthy choice and eat right if given the chance? will they buy crisco and mcribs rather than a salad with some tuna on top?
People who buy into this are the biggest rubes on the planet. It's another crisis to suck more money out pf people's pockets! If anyone is starving in the US it's their own fault. There is charity, the govt, caring people! It's a enough already. It's a load and a lot of you simps buy it.
@spec24 Look up Food Desert. Try to understand that many people do not have easy access to these programs, or if they can get on WIC, it's still difficult for them to get to a store that offers nutritious choices. For what you spend on fresh vegetables at the store, you could buy a family of happy meals. So people buy happy meals instead and then stores stop stocking things.
@DavidMPetty go to the 99cent store. not mcdonalds. you get alot more food for cheaper. fat = royalty in the old days. THESE PEOPLE ARE WELL FED . ALL THE TIME. IF THEY WEREN'T, I'D BE ABLE TO SEE THERE RIBS. I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT THE ONES THEY SHOVE IN THERE FACE DAILY
@lukestrode89 Actually... obesity is a sign of poverty now. just like a tan is a sign of wealth. in the past, the rich were heavier because they ate more, and the poor were tan because they had to work outside. in older paintings a picturesque woman was always pale and a little on the chubby side, now in art youll notice the ideal woman is pretty skinny, hip bones being very attractive now. the problem is the healthy food is more expensive than the unhealthy food. been to an organic grocery?
@lukestrode89 if you have you'll notice they're ridiculously expensive. tans are a sign of wealth now, because you usually get them during leisure time. tanning beds, outdoor hobbies, surfing, etc. simply put. healthy food is more expensive than unhealthy food. how much do you think McDonald's pays for the ingredients in their food? very, very, very little. High fructose corn syrup and other artificial and unhealthy ingredients in food are much cheaper than their natural counter
How are the people in this video hungry...they are all either obese, overweight, or at least well fed. Call me for donations when they can find one emaciated American to put in the video.
@Blahblobify Poor People = less money for food = more "value" food like fast food. More calories for less money. = less HEALTHY food = less healthy people. It's possible to be fat and malnourished.
What a wonderful presentation! Where I live 2/3 of the clients at the local food bank are parents with small children. I find it telling that the biggest supporters of food banks tend to be United Church types while the biggest and loudest voices against them also come from Christendom. It says a lot about our society when adherence to prejudice is stronger than our need to take care of each other. It isn't about judgment it is about lending a hand to our fellow man. Again great presentation.
@bagelboi66 Ever wonder how many people coming to the food bank are single mothers with their kids? It's a very high percentage. If we would go after the fathers and make them pay support, the hunger factor would drop alot. Divorced fathers have to pay support. Why not guys who just want to enjoy themselves?
@earlyhemibill I eagerly agree. At a local soup kitchen I see the same thing, mothers with their kids trying to take care of them. It's heartbreaking in nations with so much wealth yet so little compassion.
@earlyhemibill There are also assistance programs called "WIC - Women, Infants and Children." which do not support fathers AT ALL. sucks for those guys.
I agree that the government tends to fail to fix things. But, even in the video, it talks about how their help is mainly volunteers. We just need to start reaching out and taking care of our neighbors, because we don't always have the luxury of time to wait for change to happen. We need to do what we can right now with what we have. We can take down the problems America faces with our understated power of care.
Supposedly 85% of the people in the USA are christians, so just pray to your savior to give you all food! PROBLEM SOLVED!! Move onto the next problem please!
This, including the 3.5 million homeless in America (1 million of those homeless are children) is a subject you never hear Congress talking about openly. The MSM also keeps it downplayed. Tiger Woods is more important. Its like its a dirty little secret here.
@Traveler2112 While our Govt Officials approves BILLIONS wasted overseas and wastes BILLIONS more on rediculous programs, their own posh lifestyles, our own, are struggling here just to survive. We need to fix our OWN problems before we should even consider trying to fix the world. Our elected officials are FAILING their country and their people. Pathetic This includes BOTH Partys, none are excused.

It's real. You're just short-sighted.

Compelling video. We, too, find it challenging to get the word out about the hidden problem of childhood hunger in America. Thanks for creating this.
