Sofia is charming even with its communist architecture, think about the building of the National Assembly-народното събрание - it is communist building, but it is beautiful.

Probably the award for the most developed city of the Balkans should not be given so lightheardedly, considering Istambul and Athens and such. Nevertheless, Sofia is marvelous ol' hood (when it doesn't come to communist architecture, with which, I think, none could disagree).

I've been only to Bucharest and Skopie (besides Sofia, of course), but I think they're nice too, especially Skopie. And from what I've seen from Lyublyana on TV, it seems like a very nice city too! It seems most of the Balkans are becoming not what they were expected to be before... ;)
