I found her tape in my drawer and after all these years i wish the radio stations would just play her songs again. I miss cruisin to her songs and just hanging out with a radio and the friends, great dancing song.
"Bounce Back" was first recorded by Fire On Blonde in early 1987 on Atlanic Records. Martika recorded it in the fall of 1987 for her debut CD. It never made the final cut. Alisha recorded the song in 1990. All 3 were produced by Michael Jay.
By the way, Fire On Blonde also recorded "Wrong Number" in 1987. Alisha released it as the follow up to "Bounce Back" in 1990. Both were produced by Michael Jay.
This is an old favorite, but the problem with this song is the lyric "Into Love" doesn't work well, both on its own and with her pronunciation. For years, I thought the lyric was "You're too low". LOL. But you have to love that second verse. Great pop lyrics. :-)
Alisha and Martika are friends. Maritka sang backup for Alisha on this album. Alisha has one of the most amazing voices and only sings live. Check her out on Myspace to hear some of her other songs.
OMG...I didn't know they had a video to this song...I love Alisha...I use to wear out her first Album, then her Second, and then her Third...She was always unique and that's what I loved about her...I still have the vinyl from the 80's of All Night Passion her first single and hit followed by Baby Talk and Too Turned On...Love it...Thanks for Posting...
image can only go so far, thamsdr28. Eventually they have to have something to back up that image. That is why beautiful girls in the movies rarely get more than a few lines, and only stand there for eye candy. Some actually have both beauty and talent, but the majority don't. That is why Pamela Anderson isn't taken seriously as an actress, but Rebecca Romijn is. Food for thought
Danceteria must have been her joint, because I knew people when I was in High School in Levittown (NY) who used to go there around '86and see her. Maybe it was under 21 night, or maybe the drinking age hadn't been changed yet. She was cool.
Sucks Ash had taking the next step but by this time the racists thug scumbags had extorted control of mtv and already begone their perverted conversion of an all American rock channel! GRRRR I still can hear the quotes of the founder of mtv when the rent a mob pigs said "its a racists channel no blacks" and the CEO answered " This channel is targeted towards middle American R&R kids" Lesson NEVER BOW TO RENT A MOB THUGS !!!!!!
A superb vocalist. She had great dance songs that should've gotten airplay as they were released. I remember her songs being played in mixes but not individually. "Bounce Back" was given airplay;finally Alisha received the attention when she should've been given it on the radio years-back in the early 80's.
wow, are you certain Martika did a version of Bounce Back?
I know for certain Martika did a cover of "Cross My Heart" originally by Eighth Wonder.
hey I believe you though, after Googling I see Martika provided the backing vocals for Alisha's 'Kiss Me Quick'.
while I love the song Bounce Back, I never would have thought it was popular enough to be covered-- then again, many great yet mostly forgotten song actually do get covered so in my mind it's possible.
This song was orginally recorded by the group Fire on Blonde, an obscure dance-pop/urban contemporary group that recorded some noteworthy singles in the 1980s. Fire on Blonde recorded two 12" singles in 1987: "Wrong Number" on Atlantic and "Bounce Back" on the TSR-distributed Spinn label. Both songs were written and produced by Michael Jay, who used them a second time when he produced dance-pop singer Alisha's Bounce Back album for MCA in 1990.
@turbografx Yes, Martika did sing a version of Bounce Back and it did sound better. Martika was not yet as poplular as she became later in MTV. The good old days!
i grew up in the Philadelphia / South Jersey area and they always used to play this on Q102FM .. i even got to see her perform in one of their many summer concerts
I've never seen this video but we spun Alisha's music A LOT on Wow-FM in Upstate New York. She performed at one of our summer concerts. I had the chance to meet her and she is top notch. I wish her continued success.
It seemed Alisha, Regina("Baby Love") and Stacey Q were lumped together as sounding like Madonna. But Alisha preceeded Madonna. When really listen to all of them, they have their own distinctive sound-vocally and styiistically.
alisha DID NOT preceed madonna, madonnas first release was 1982s "everybody" a huge club hit and a minor radio hit in new york. alishas "baby talk" eerily sounds like madonnas "into the groove" thats why she was lumped into the madonna wanna-be category.
What happened to the remix version? I thought the producer had posted it. Please repost! It's MUCH better than this since it's got the Justin Strauss touch.
I loved Bounce Back! I performed it in drag during the period - in Toronto, Buffalo and Rochester. Was so fun and the audience loved it! I LOVE this track to this day.
Thanks for the post ! Wow ! What memories Going out getting dressed up with my ultra hot girlfriend Hey Marybeth where are ya ? *Kisses* at the time ! Damn those were some fun times ! Unlike the freakazoid times of today !
i liek this song its probley one of her best its very dancey and late 80's early 90's sounding i still dont see why it wasent a hit :( i love the beat to it
Alisha's voice was the best of those three, IMO. even though Debbie Gibson and Tiffany are both very talented. Yeah, It's too bad that the Bounce Back album didn't do very well.
Alisha never had her career take off. She was just as talented as the other young girls in the 80's like Debbie Gibson or Tiffany and all three of her albums had highly entertaining songs. Her songs were even featured in the movie Manaquin starring Kim Cattrel but things just never took off for her. Shame she had the talent just not the stardom.
Part Two: Alisha was a real trooper. She spent 12 hours in this getting battered with the wind, sand, sun and other elements. I don't know how she made it but she did. Great artist who
never completely got her due and more importantly a wonderful person. Brian
Were you her manager when she came out with "Baby Talk" and "All Night Passion"(I have the old 12"). The record label has Vanguard as being the record company and Rick Tarbox I guess was the song writer. That was a big move Alisha did signing w/ MCA. Any insights would be welcomed.
Part One: I was Alisha's manager during this time and had the displeasure of being on
this video set. It was shot out near Edwards Air Force base. We were told to prepare for extreme heat, sun and rattlesnakes. However, the air was COLD and the Wind was brutal. What you see is real wind, not machines. The sun reflecting off the lake bed caused us all to burn.
yeah, if you saw my full description/comments for the video, you'll see that I mentioned she is the one that also sang "All Night Passion", that song came out at, the beginning of the mid-1980s...
Finally an awesome Alisha Video ! The others scary ! lol

True. Sorry about the mispelling of your name. But what's normal nowadays, right? Well, as far as the 80's go big hair was in for women. 80's rocked.
