  • are u gay?

  • o my gosh thank u for the vid!! I have asthma and recently switched all my cosmetics to paraben free, and have not had any asthma attacks. I did not reallize parabens could induce asthma! thank u for the vid and i have more reasons to stay away from parabens. Thank You so much!

  • Thank you for this video. I only recently started incorporating natural products into my routine and have found my face overall seems less irritated and red. I am not endorsed by any of these shops but if someone is looking for something new I really like SpaBeauty and ethicBioskin on Etsy. Their products are incredibly high quality and worth every penny.

  • I just wanted to say thank you for posting this video. Great job at informing everyone.

  • What could we do? Mineral oil and parabens are cheap fillers, they're in most of our daily essentials and beauty products.

  • where can i buy thin sheet gold for a facial?

  • I think I will you up what I have and then go organic. Love you Mike. I need to look a little more at what I am using.

  • I LIKE YOU! I only just recently discovered parabens, as I have only just recently REALLY gotten into makeup. I realize it's impossible to completely ax them out of my life, but it's important to be informed. I added this video to my favorites! Thanks for your research. I look forward to checking out your other videos.

  • I am ashamed to say that I only became concerned with parabens when I found out that methylparaben can age your skin when exposed to the sun, I threw out everything I could find with parabens. I also look on the skin deep website for their assessment of the safety of cosmetics. I am trying to switch to more natural products, I am now using coconut & jojoba oil for moisturizing my skin but most importantly I am trying with great difficulty to get my teenage son to switch his products. thanks.

  • Pretty much every single brand from low end to high end contains parabens. I checked and the Neutrogena Sheer Sunscreen has a methylparoben. They are almost impossible to escape, unless you use natural cosmetic brands.

  • a great extremely important issue!people should know more about it!

  • Great video, but people use a lot of products that contain parabens and I doubt they will boycott their NARS and Dior and other brands that have these, it's definitely something to think about.

  • so I looked @ the back of my facial products and it says that theres a small amount of parabens~is it still safe to use them? cause they're from a really good skin care company ]:

  • Poor mice...

  • shit i just found all four kinds of paraben in my sunscreen!

  • Hmm, I buy some beauty products at the pharmacy..Is that a solution?

  • @xTheGoddessOfChaosx You really just have to check the ingredient list on all of the products. The goal is to reduce overall consumption. It is hard to eliminate parabens, but you certainly want to cut out at least half of current consumption. :D Thanks so much for watching! Remember, the lower on the ingredient list, the less concentration of a certain ingredient. If a product is going to have parabens, make sure it is the last ingredient listed.

  • @TheSublimeAgent Oh, the parabens (in the products i use) are always listed as one of the last ingredients on the ingredient list, phew! Are there healthier alternatives for parabens or isn't that possible? :)

  • =O WTF??!?!?!!?

  • OMG i just went throug all my chanel boxes and i found out that all my foundations and eyeshadows are contains of:

    Ethylparaben

    Butylparaben

so it means all these years of buying chanel as a expensive brand and thought they are going to use the best ingridient in their products i put toxic in my body????!?!

I also found in my Dior and MAC foundation.

    I feel awful now

I was about to get ready and leave home now i dont know what to do!?!

    NO MAKEUP ? wtf

  • @Sarah1627 Its because its a Cheap to make and easy to put it in EVERYTHING and to Charge money

  • Is this ghey?

  • Did you have research over this topic that which makeup brands are without Parabens?!

What makeup brands are you recommending ??

Chanel, Dior, YSL, Estee Lauder, MAC, La mer...

    thx

  • I wanna ask you something, about La mer, their products cointain Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolinone so they dont have any paraben, but isnt that as bad as paraben?? Oh gosh im really confused now. What it´s really bad is that is really hard to find great products that are parabens free. Tks for this video, im gonna do some research too. Im curious now... maybe I will find other products.

  • WOW What a great video, as always! Im so glad I found your videos because I was getting really sick of youtube, but now Im excited to see great videos like this one more! So my opinion is that lately i have seen a LOT of products that are parabens free, but from what I have read, they take they parabens off, but they add other bad stuff =/ I really dont know whta do... my sunscreen has parabens, and I havent found another one that is as good and paraben-free =/

  • I just did a video on this...I feel like we as consumers need to use our power if we want things to change. The only parabens I still use are my Nars powders. It's the principle of it that pisses me off the most. I won't buy from companies that don't care about me.

  • Hola! I just came back from my holidays in South Africa and I saw many beauty products with the ingredient "borax" and this one I have never seen here in Europe, do you know anything about it? It sounds rather dangerous to me :S

  • @Pescaicho in South Africa things like cosmetics are not checked.. trust me

  • There are many ingredients that can be endocrine and or hormone disruptors in your cosmetics and skincare. Great information. I will be sharing your video.

  • Everything gives you cancer these days.

  • @maggso0 I got the same feeling..

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! Both my mom and my gandmother have had breast cancer so it's nice to know what I can do to prevent myself from getting it. Almost all of my skin products are from Clinique and I just checked if any of them had any form of parabens in them and they didn't! Not a single one :)

  • Lisa sent me! Great video! Thanks for the information!

  • So, how much would you have to apply or consume for parabens to really have a profound negative effect? Is it worse if you have a history of cancer in your family? Sorry if this was explained in the video and I just missed it :/

  • I recenty discovered that almost all of NARS products contain Parabens. As a lover of brand, I was so upset! Since I know you also love their products, how do you balance it or deal with it? I don't want to stop using their blush!

  • As someone who works in the hair industry, if it makes you feel any better, the government might not be cracking down, but the industry is. Sexy hair, Purology, Deva Curl, Nioxin, It's a Ten etc are all moving in a better direction as with sulphates.

  • The sad thing is I had no idea. I always knew Parabens were bad for you but I had no idea. Thank you so so so much for referencing me to this video. Really I had no Idea. This is so scary. I am checking every product I purchase for now on.

  • When it comes to parabens all I can say is caveat emptor! Parabens are as ubiquitous as high fructose corn syrup. I worry about bio-accumulation while using these weird chemicals. Given a choice between a product with parabens or without, I'd take the ones without. Unfortunately, if there were no parabens, the makeup would have hardly any shelf life at all. Especially after opened. So keep reading those labels and know what's in that stuff your buying.

  • Excellent empirical research!

  • wow i guess ill go back to using LUSH products

  • @luvachii LUSH contains parabens!!! just because they say "all natural" doesn't mean it's true. I use Burt's Bees almost exclusively because they are always all natural. You need to be more careful with reading labels, don't believe all marketing campaigns.

  • parabens are part of a preservative cocktail in most topical cosmetic products. what do we do? many cosmetic products become ineffective after a short time without preservatives. we don't need preservatives in creams? it would cost a fortune if you used cosmetics without preservatives. us poor folk would literally have to go without using any makeup or creams. ugh!

  • I've just received my Biotherm anti-wrinkle eye care multi-protection and guess what? It has all possible types of parabens: methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben and propylparaben! and your line about sun exposure and the reaction between parabens with UVA brings to skin aging! Wow, I am giving this product back.

BTW, do you know any good eye care with SPF?

    Thanks for your video

  • Thanks so much for sharing your research. I've done a few paraben education videos ever since my cousin/best friend was diagnosed with stage4 breast cancer 2 years ago, but I'm not very eloquent when talking about the subject. I think your video is the most informative I've watched, and I'm really loving your channel.

  • @Raine528i Thank you for your kind words. I actually watched your video when I was researching for this video! you are awesome. and I am so honored that you attached your video to mine :D

  • There are more stuf, that I actually think is as bad as parabens. SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE and all the sulfates in general. The thing is sulfates are usualy the second ingredient after water. Wow, that is a lot!!!!!

  • Amazing video.

I try to use natural products, organic are the best.

The thing is, like everywhere, there are good and bad. Some of them, because they don't have good preservetives, just get very strange smell and tast. Is like if is old, out of date, the same type you can find in old food.

But there are amazing things, NUDE SKIN CARE is my new fav, really happy with it. And I compare with the high end products, they need to the up to Sisley skin care. Actually NUDE is there, Amazing brand.

  • Is consumption the same as topical application? The studies seem to focus on consumption. I dont eat body lotion.

  • @johnlovesbridge I guess I wasnt super specific. Yes, topical application is the same. In fact, about half of the studies I actually looked at covered both topical and ingested parabens...as the body can absorb them in basically any application.

  • @TheSublimeAgent There are parabens in my tanning lotion. I'm in BIG trouble LOL

  • @johnlovesbridge You shouldnt have any problem unless you apply it every couple hours for the rest of your life. haha. Unless you have a family history of cancer (i.e. breast, testicular, thyroid, etc.)

  • I would rather they made them illegal in all products. Then, even if I bought less things because they were more expensive I would at least know for sure that I'm not putting my health in risk. Also, by making them illegal eventually they would develop something more healthy to substitute them.

The big corporations just need a push to guide them in the right direction (even if they will go that way forced)

  • carcinogens should be banned in anything that is used on human body!

This is such a big problem.... and much more should be done asap. There is a high rate of people getting cancer and all possible preventive measures should be done by the gov't to protect its own citizens.

  • @wang9190 That is a great comment! I totally agree! Thanks!

  • The thing is, you can't possibly know what chemicals are in everything; cosmetic companies do not have to disclose this information. Parabens can hide behind many different names, and are related to several other chemicals/preservatives [Diazolidinyl Urea, Formaldehyde, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI), Methylisothiazolinone (MIT)]. For this reason, it's next to impossible to avoid all parabens in the products you're using. I've purged lotions, soaps

  • @xloveisnot I've purged lotions, soaps & deodorants containing parabens from my collection. I've also gotten rid of any lip gloss products containing BHT (a KNOWN carcinogen). The world is a big place, and there are dangerous synthetic AND natural chemicals. Not to mention, you could be hit by a bus tomorrow. Nevertheless, it cannot hurt to limit the use of these chemicals, and your video was informative and put together well. Don't forget to live your life :) Worry can cause illness too! =]

  • Thanks for posting this. I just checked out the ingredients of both of my facial moisturizers, and they both contain parabens.

  • I cannot thank you enough for this video. I'm so grateful someone who's done such extensive research on the topic is discussing it.

I'm going to look through everything of mine and tell my family what to look for.

    Thank you. :)

    As always, LOVE your videos.

  • Ok, Michael seriously you need to stop, you are making me love you more everytime I watch a new video from you. Amazing research hun. OMG you are so perfect. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Hell no, I'm not giving up my cosmetics. LOL.

I will try to be more careful.

You look flawless as always babe.

    I love you tons.xoxxo<33

    XOXOXo<33

  • ha u hav 2 wer make up

  • hehe, not in this video :) Thanks for checking it out tho :D

  • @TheSublimeAgent

    no prob mate xD

  • The Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Lip Cream you use has parabens in it, I thought you didn't care about the parabens.

  • Thank you so much for informing us on this matter! I'm a teenager, and I want a healthy lifestyle for down the road. Recently I've learned about genetically modified foods, and I have tried to buy more organic! When I heard about parabens, I checked all the things I use. So far, got2b's smooth operator contains parabens! I'm continuing on through my products. Does Shiseido contain parabens? I threw out the box when I opened them! Thanks once again!

  • By the way, la Mer contains parabens..

  • is it true?

  • Comment removed

  • I found the packaging from my La Mer Lotion, and yes, it does contain parabens: methylparaben. propylparaben, benzyl saicitate, benzyl benzoate.... you guys can give negtive ratings to these comments... the truth is, la mer does contain parabens! Now, let me repeat again, that I have been using la mer for almost a year now, and I love it. However, it would have been great if la mer removed harmful ingridients from their products.

  • Woww . . . awesome information. Good to know. Amazing video like always

  • Controversial ingredient which is in almost everything I use.

Equally up for debate is the new nanotechnology/nanoparticles incorporated into numerous products from skin care to sunscreens.

Lastly, where does one draw the line? Cosmetic ingredients and even medications are deemed safe upon introduction, but are proven questionable or unsafe years or even decades down the road.

  • interisthing ,.i learn ,...thank you for sharing this

  • However, some cancers are genetic heritage, parabens are needed to form of makeups and all these stuffs we use are external, I'm NOT saying it is good, i mean we still obsess in makeup even it could kill us. And it depends on the quantity and other factors, we exposure UV everyday, it could kill us too. your suggestion is great, i just hope the girls out there do not freak out for the makeups. Thanks though!

  • I totally agree with you. Parabens arent a huge deal if they are only in a few things, but there are alternatives (that are healthy but cost a little bit more). People shouldnt give up their favorite things, just be more conscious of what they use. :D

  • Very informative as usual. Gotta love you! Thanks for the valuable information!

    ~sPN

  • Omg, I am super scared now because my Chanel sunscreen consist of all four types of paraben. Awesome alert video :)

  • Aren't there parabens in our water?

  • I just spent all my money at Tarte D0T

C0M to buy new makeup without parabens, but what about the other ingredients? Could you go look at the Tarte website and give me your opinion please? THANKS!

  • Scary stuff! I heard about parabens being bad for health, but I had no idea that it was to such a severe extent!!

  • I do agree..sometimes it just stress me out thinking all the things..I mean whatever we do there are risk involve so I have stopped worrying a lot and enjoy my life since what we consider safe today may be proven dangerous another day so just do everything in moderate

  • so happy i subscribed to you. i'm learning alot.

  • WoW,i did'nt know about this thanks so much 4 doing this vid, will have to look into my makeup ing: from now on,if we all start shopping around the makeup companies will take notice & stop using them XX

  • my sunscreen contains methylparaben, awesome. anyways, i feel that parabens are so far ingrained into our life that it would take a enormous amount of effort on both the governments part, and all cosmetic companies to make a change. And it seems like thats the reason it hasnt been researched more, because we are scared of the results will most likely be. On the consumer end its very difficult to avoid them. nonetheless its pretty scary, especially since other countries have banned them.

  • Ok... So I just raided my bathroom before I showered, and 90% of my products in the shower contain parabens!!! I was lucky to find a shampoo and a couple of conditioners that dont contain parabens! AND my facewash.

  • its everywhere. japan is not really health conscious like people think.

  • Wow, I really appreciate your kind words...and your philosophy on life is certainly one to be respected! I am lucky to have you as a viewer.-michael

  • That is definitely true! To me, however, some chemicals seem a bit more pernicious than others...paraben being one of them. It just worries me that a women may already a predisposition to breast cancer and also be using 10 products that contain parabens too. It's a tricky issue! :D

  • well to let everyone know elf cosmetics contains methlyparaben i just looked at the ingredients on a brand new cover up stick and thats one of the ingredients it contains...not using that anytime soon...its scary to know cosmetics contains such scary ingredients ..thanks soo much for the infomation!

  • scary stuff

  • He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life.

  • my eucerin with spf has methylparaben, propylparaben, and a skin cancer foundation recommendation sticker..... FUCK! lol

  • life is *FAIL* like that sometimes. :p

  • I'm wondering if Lush has any Parabens? Since the company is all about natural, fresh and handmade products.

  • It does contain parabens, but only with the liquid bath products...as far as I know. :/

  • @OliPotato: After a little Googling, I found out that Lush uses methyl- and propyl- parabens. :( This makes me sad.

  • Lets write them a letter!
