  • u need a 2 stoke m8 cuz the engine revs higher and faster off the line but hey nice kart good job!!! :)

  • plenty fast...and nice and smooth...good job

  • im buying one like this. but its like a modded manco dirt go kart with a similar 5 speed motor. but theres nothing like a home made setup

  • i plan to build one of these after i get a job and get money coming in

  • look how low

  • cool kart..But i think an 2stroke had been betther..You should try "real" go-kart once when you can race all the others

  • Im gonna be making a sort of go cart in the future what motor would you suggest?

  • kt100 its yamaha's karting engine

  • hi.

  • I like the kart but I don't like how the engine is mounted beside you like that I would rather have it mounted behind.

  • thats where the engines are mounted in karts.

unless they are huge. this is so the weight distribution is right.

  • wtf... where do you people get the trannys from...

  • They use a dirtbike engine, they have a clutch and tranny built in to the bottom end

  • Dude, I'm building a project similar to that, could you send me the draw of the chassis with the measures?

Sorry for my bad vocabulary, I'm from Brazil...

  • Ha, I am also doing the same. Could you just send me a picture top down view of the whole thing put together?

  • i'm putting together a kart with a 340 twin liquid cool engine

  • when you put that yz250 in that thing will smoke

  • its pretty slow but that yz250 sounds like it will fly.... i have a kart with a ts185engine bored.030 over and a fmf exhaust with wiesco piston and vforce reeds... it will make a good match for ur yz250 probably

  • ha im building a kart. 200cc 4 storke honda

ill post a video when im done with it

    its loud as hell

  • sounds sick

  • the way i look at it, if its not a 2 stroke shifter, it probably will get a can of whoop ass opened on it in a race. (no offense, its still a sick kart, just throw a duble stroker in there)

  • Ya I know the engine was cheap so it was used. I have a yz250 2 stroke waiting to go on it.

  • now thats gonna kick ass

  • I working on my project...honda cr125 engine on go kart... will se its about 40hp :))

  • o boy! make a vid. great motors. cant wait to see it fly lol

  • I got a CR125R with a few grand into it and it's making a little over 40hp, but I love it too much to tear it up, but I do have a 2000 YZ125 motor to spare

  • Comment removed

  • fucking brilliant

  • With some motor work it's easily possible to hit that. My kx 100 has 32 at the crank after about a grand of motor work was put into it. Keep in mind it's a 2 stroke. The 250cc twin cylinder superkarts hit around 90hp if I'm not mistaken.

  • Actually, thay can hit over 170mph haha

  • are you serious? if you can barely get a 250 to do 40hp you need to learn about engines

  • hmmm... doesnt seem to have much torque

  • lol that is not 125 its only 5 cc!!

  • it only seems tht way cuz hes afraid to get into it

  • even if it is slow its still cool and id rather have that then anything...u u no?

  • slow

  • nu uh! lol

  • i think thats at only 1st or 2nd gear and going about 30mph

  • it sounds so boring, u need the sound of a 2 stroke. probz a lot more fun than the sound though i bet... do u have a hydraulic brake set up?

  • Yes, they have hhydrolic brakes. I also hope to soon get a 2 stoke yz 250 on this kart. :)

  • yeah that will b rapid

  • how much teath on d rear??? ive got 36T its so low!!!

  • lol

  • ur neighbors probly hate u

  • They have only called the police a few times...

  • atleast u dont live in palatine, illinois... buncha dush bags

they'd call the cops even if they THOUGHT they heard a go kart..mini bike..things of that nature

    nice job tho

  • I live very close to there actually. lol.

  • damn.. small world? lol

im lookin to put my 110cc pocket bike engine on a go cart.. its manual

you think its do able? since yo made a kart youself

  • Hey Man, Nice go kart i just bought a proper frame for 320 not in the best condition but its gonna be fixed up sandblasted and painted, Im searching for a cbr1000 to put in mine should go fast then after the frame is extended. Urs is very nice for a 125cc Wouldnt mind a 2 stroke one though do better skids and burn outs then and faster take offs but still goes good being a 4 banger

  • How fast can i go if i use an engine from a lawnmower?

  • If it is a 5hp engine, then probably about 40mph. Thats what I did in my 5hp kart.

  • lol i can go 50 in my 5 hp 1 wheel drive gokart

  • should put a 2-stroke 125 on it :D

  • There is a 2 stroke 250cc almost ready for it.

  • sweet dude, please, PLEASE keep me posted on that project, as i am wanting to take on a project kart myself. what frame are you using?

  • its a haase frame

  • where can i find one of these frames?

  • Try ebay. I know of Margay and Haase frames as specific manufacturers. Usually if you just try searching go kart frame of something along those lines you will get results.

  • ok and where did you get the rest of the parts? i have the same engine from a crf 125. oh and how many teeth were on your rear sprocket. thanks a lot

  • I used ebay for all parts i cant check for teeth right now.

  • ok thanks

  • ok thank you. that answer about the gas tank helped me a ton. i really didn't want to fork out a few hundred for a motorcycle gas tank. can't wait to see those pics. thanks!

  • sorry for all the comments but i couldn't say everything in one. the last thing i was wondering is if you could send me some pics of ur cart's engine, clutch, and shifter setup and if you knew about the vacuum line in relation to the gas tank? i was wondering if that is necessary to run the engine or if i could just use a regular gas tank from anything. thank you!

  • As long as the tank is high enough that it will we gravity fed you can use any tank. I will try to find some pics to show you, and hopefully clearify these comments more.

  • i am working on putting the engine in the frame and i can't figure out is how to mount the radiator and how to make a shifter and clutch pedal? i have a 1989 Kawasaki ninja 600cc engine.i was wondering if you could help me out with completing this kart? the shifter and cooling system are the biggest things i am worried about. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks and have fun karting!

  • I used a very strong and heavy cable mounted on brackets made out of bar stock iron for the clutch pedal. This one doesn't have a cooling sytem, but I would just get creative when placing the radiator, I can't really help you much there.

  • fist off i would like to tell you that i really like the kart. i myself are trying to build a shifter kart.

  • I'm 12 and im planing on building a go-kart. I want 1 with a rool cage for off road but i want to go fast. Most of my tracks are very flat and i want to go fast. Im working in a tight budget any suggestions?

  • I wouldn't use a race kart chassis to go off road at all, but most off road karts wont handle as good on flat race tracks. So you might have to choose which you prefer, or end up sacrificing a little bit of both.

  • im sorry i miss typed. I was rushed when i was typing. My "tracks" are offroad in the desert they are pretty flat mabye a few woops here and there

  • roll cages add alot of weight so if u wanna go fast then u need a more powerful motor(try craigslist),but i definatly reccomend that if u do build one that u buy a good frame with some kind of suspension(spend most on the frame) on it because even small bumps at 10 mph thrash your body, i'm only 13 and i have back pain from a go kart that had no suspension and was used for heavy offroading, be careful and have fun,

    Pixuma

  • Yeah thats a good point. Make sure to have suspension for any off road use.

  • hey buddy, me again lol um just wandering coz u gotta motorbike engine aswell, do u have anytrouble getting fuel to carby??? coz motorbikes are gravity fed so i was just wandering, can u maybe if i send u my email address send me some pic's of the motor and stuff? thanks man

  • At first a gravity tank was used, but it looked pretty bad. Now its using a fuel pump that runs on engine vaccuum. I'll try to send you a link to where I got it if I can find the place.

  • ok thanks cos i havn't put my engine in yet but thought i might run into those problems but i was thinking a low pressure electric pump but vacum would be alot better, is the vacum line the fat tube that comes out the back of the crank case? thanks very much for your help. also did u want me to send u my email address or would you be able to send the link via comments?

  • I'll send you the link in a youtube message when I get it. The vacuum line comes out of the carb for mine, that fat line might just be a vent, but I wouldn't know if it is a two stroke.

  • ok thanks for that, and its a four stroke like urs

  • hey i just bought a 125cc engine of ebay and was wandering what gear ratio you are running??? how many teeth on the front and rear sprockets? BTW looks cool in the other vid. P.S how many gears u got? mine has 4 thanks

  • Well the first gear that was on it was way to low and 1st and 2nd gear were almost useless. I would say go as small as you can on the rear axel if it has 5 gears. This one is a 5 speed.

  • ok cheers for the reply, how many teeth on ur front sproket and mine is only a 4 spd, where did u get the sprocket for the back from, is that just of a proper shifter kart or a motorbike or something? thanks

  • It is a motorcycle engine. I cannot remember the name of the place I got the gear but it was ordered not bought at a store.

  • So you just like call up the place and ask them

  • I have no idea I never ask. I'm almost certain they would say no though; for insurence reasons. I would try to find a go-kart track and see if they have a free day.

  • do you have to get permission to ride in a parking lot and I am thinking of building one is it hard

  • If you want to ride legally (I do not) you would probably have to get permission from the builing to do so. Otherwise just take it so buisness centers on weekends.

  • This is a 125cc?Hey do you have an aout starter where u have to press a button to start it or do you have to do it manually? the autos relly help

  • Its not hard to just use a bar on the kick lever or push start it.

  • i have 1 with a honda RR engine on it thing hauls balls. and only cost $700 to make it

  • When you say 5 speed, thats just how the engine came, or did YOU make it 5 speed?

  • umm thats how the engine came.

  • sorry i accidently marked it as spam trauma

  • that is a long ass steet you can race on lol

  • i have a yamaha 125 on mine and it rips its a 6 speed tranny though. good job for a home made one.

  • awesome!

i'm planning to build one using a 125cc engine too..

any idea how much the chassis itself weighs?

i wanna make mine abit bigger, sorta like mini caterham..but i'm worried about the power to weight ratio..any advise?

  • I would have no idea. If you are maaking your own chassis I asume it would weight quite a bit.

  • thats sweet me and my friend r tryind to put a 2 stroke yamaha 80 engine on one

  • try driftin it lmao.. =] its jus a suggestions lols

  • Sweet cart dude

  • Nice, really! Sounds like a 4-stroke engine, that's good to drive arround on streets and other places. I have a 125cc 2-stroke engine on mine, fast (28 hp) but loud as hell...

  • my dad and i built a go-kart that can own yours!!

    250cc 8 speed! w/overdrive

  • yes but what was the price? :)

  • hey man do u have any other videos of this kart?

  • Its funny u should ask. I just took some and will be hopefully uploading them in a day or two. This was still testing, it looks much better now.

  • im going to make a 125cc two stroke shifter kart soon though how did u do the gearing? as in get rid of the foot shifter and make it a hand one??

  • AWESOME build. I have bought a lot of old dirt bikes and ATV's to try this build, but just dont have the time. Nice to see its being done though

  • a little short on pickup isnt it?

  • This is still testing in this video, maybe ill put a more recent one up some time.

  • how much hp?

  • i have a question....Can i make fast homemade go-kart with a 2hp 109 cc engine??

  • Probably not, put it on a bicycle.

  • about how much are these???? and where can i buy in California???? plz answer me anyone???

  • you save a lot if you build it yourself but look on Ebay the price changes a lot.

  • Wow that thign only makes 20.... i have a 125cc Rotax that has 23 with a rave power valve and my 125cc Rotax shifter has alot more power then 20

  • Ya, I know it has a lot less horsepower than you would think. oh well its still fun.

  • Yeah i ran my shifter today in the rain we wernt goin very fast but damn it was so much fun!

  • How much horsepower does a go-kart have that has a top speed of 35 mph? I am just curious because that is the top spped of the go-kart I am getting.

  • I really can't tell you. If its a shifter it probably has very little. If it isn't it probably has around 4 maybe. But it depends on how old the motor is and the gearing so I really have no idea.

  • Okay. Sorry for all the noobish questoins. Thanks for the answers though.

  • how much horsepower is a 125 cc motor? Does it vary? Sorry, I'm a noob so don't make fun of me and just answer my question.

  • The couldnt find the exact spec for this engine but the closest motor to it have 15-20 hp. Modern versions have much more.

  • is that a dirt bike engine

  • hye nice cart, how did u get it to be manual like that?

  • the engine has a transmission on it and a hand lever was just addapted to what was the foot shifter.

  • How fast does that thing go and how much cost?

  • put a turbo on it xD :)

  • why put a fourstroke on a kart???

  • becaause it was cheap :)

  • the back end looks excactly like mine lol but mine has a

    crotch rocket engine in it

  • Hey nice cart please send me the plans for it.

    Thanks

  • Can i buy that off you? :L

  • no way thats home made... badass!

  • nice go cart dude
