  • so basically you are saying in 8 minutes what can be said in 10 seconds. Throw stuff out - yay

  • whats hor deuvers got to do with it

  • happy friday?? who says that?

  • I'm working on letting go of my own past right now and this video helped me a little which gave me some ideas! First by doing things good for my future like going to college, getting good grades, getting my restricts, and a job. Btw im a teenager so yeah :) hope i helped

  • this made me cry you helped me so much thanks!

  • Thanks for the video!

I am in the process of uncluttering my home and my head. Your really helps :)

  • I love the title and how you said from right off "I understand the concept but what are some practical tips." A lot of things happened to me starting at a young age. A year ago anxiety hit me harsh and for the first couple months I went from hospital to hospital trying to figure out what was wrong and finally figured out anxiety. Many other problems branched from it and I finally realized its because I can't let go. But you google it and they say you need to let go but never how.

  • writting it all down on paper

  • your energy is radient

  • I thought it was a very good video myself and if it's interesting material, which i thought it was then I always listen to the end lol. I thought this was a great personal development video with lots of insight from a different perspective which to me is enlightening and inspirational, so thanks for posting your video. Keep up the good work : )

  • good ideas

  • This is the basis of Feng Shui, it is about creating positive energy in your surroundings and this does have an impact on your state of mind. One of the main things in Feng Shui is removing as much clutter as possible around you so that you can let the new and positive energy flow in to you. Your home is a reflection of your state of mind and if you feel calm, relaxed and happy there this will flow into your life and let the good things flow into your life.

  • E.F.T. Look it up!

  • wow this helped alot!! I FEEL AWESOME =D

you just changed my life with this video!!!!!!!!

  • Religion is the awnser

  • Buddhist meditation really helps with these sort of things.... sit quietly, breathe and let go through your breaths :) It helps me... Great video though, you made really great points!! :D

  • Thanks any ways

  • my parents told me to let the past go. But sometimes it doent work. U kind of helped but I would rather talk to a councellor about letting go of the past.

  • Hi Lisa,

I think what you had to say was very insightful and could help a lot of people. Keep up the good work!

    -Robin

  • Great Video.

Forgiving people. Absolutely letting go of the debts they owe you, whether monitory or emotional. Totally accepting they can never repay you and letting it completely go. No And go on with out them.

  • some good hints but I'm afraid to say I still beat myself up over a failed relationship from almost a year ago. I do still have some photos of her, and I know that Yahoo messenger has automatically archived some of the sweetest conversations we had online when things were going well (pleased to say at least that I haven't looked at the archived conversations for quite some time)

I know I should delete both and if you asked why I kept them I don't know why. Sad eh? Back to 'The Power Of Now'!

  • After-after-thought.

This reminds me of an annspade "AS IF" video (I can't find it now) of how you can act AS IF you had already achieved your goal. It was attacking the problem using behavior rather than mental attitude alone. It was a really good video.

  • Lisa, I've been reading previous comments about the length of your videos...

I think your videos are among the most intelligent videos on the website. Things that are complex or subtle, take some time to explore and explain.

I've never been tempted to click away before the ending. What you say is very thought provoking, and that may always draw a very wide audience, sorry to say.

  • Hi Lisa!

A guru said: Make a *ritualistic ceremony* of throwing out or burning that list of past mistakes.

I think that making lists of FUTURE goals, personal virtues, etc. (visualization) is better than making a list of PAST failures... Keeps you focusing on the positive future. That way the future is NOT a "blank" slate: it's your future biography.

If you make a list of mistakes, your ATTENTION is still on the past!

Yep, cleaning "stuff" is so cathartic. Aahh.

  • I saw that tweet! When I did I had a total mind blank because I'm pretty bad at letting go of things ._.

    This definitely helps though :D

Since my house is being remodeled and everything's being moved around, it's probably a good time to donate or throw some things out ._.

  • i try to let go of the past, and like you said, it is hard. i try to let my friend be herself cause she thinks she needs to be different cause of me cause. and i feel bad for anyone that could fall in love with her. so i try to back off a bit more. i love her and i want her to be happy. you made me think a bit today. thank you. love your videos.

  • Hello,Lisa. All good points. I myself have to edit what parts of my past to let go,esp the ones which you say hold us back. But I do have to make sure I have learned a lesson from them, which will be a new guidance in my life.

  • I wish I had a good suggestion for you. As much as I endorse living in the moment, I also tend to embrace and own my past. It's all a part of me (but, I could stand to let go a little).

  • This is THE question to ponder of late. I just gave a lesson on Forgiveness at church and letting go of the past is not a once and for all thing, like throwing out physical possessions. It's a process, one that requires an earnest heart and a pleading prayer for release. Great tips. One thing I loved that I learned was fill in this blank "All my dreams are ____________. I was thinking SHATTERED, but my friend said NEW. I love that. All my dreams are NEW. Changed my whole perspective.

  • Lisa Murray u not just beautiful ..You very intelligent .........In one word i luv you !

  • I always tried the "Put the memory in an imaginary box and put it away" thing. You imagine a large box in your mind. You then imagine the horrible memory that you dont want any longer. You mentally put this memory into the box and as you shove the box away from yourself (in your mind), imagine that the box is storing it away from your daily life. The box will eat away at the problem until it is gone. Just a technique. Thanks for making this vid.

    High 5 from Ireland! Xxx : 0 )

  • ... Continued ... And the question should be, OK, what is it that really is bothering me? And try to clarify the issue that is at the center of it. Many times the main issue is avoided for fear or other emotions, real or not. The sooner, the issue is faced squarely, the sooner it gets marked off the emotional band wagon.

  • Writing things down in all aspects is a good way to reduce mental fog. On the Clearance of belongings, the old saying goes: One, who has a larger roof, gets more snow! On carrying thoughts, even though many times this has more to do with emotions, one thing people could ask themselves when looping that thought, even subliminally, is that how this negative feeling is going to do any help? ... Continued ...

  • I can relate to the show hoarders because I have some bodies on my closet that i need to get rid of but I have sentimental attachments to them so I can't get rid of them just yet.

  • Your videos are way too long Lisa.

    - Paul Seveng

  • It's never ENOUGH time with dearest Lisa. Fans love every millisecond she is willing to share. For the rest, who cares? Click. Paul, you know how YOUR fans adore you and hang on every word, grateful for how you pontificate at times. When the cameras are going and the inspiration is flowing.....being in the moment is a beautiful thing. I know, because sometimes, I'm like "Whoa! 13 minutes went by? Aaaugh, now I have to REtake."

  • Since this channel is a YouTube partner, all you need to do is go to the "insight" panel and look at the "attention" that this video got from it's viewers. You'll see for yourself that very few people watched it until the end. Lisa can say all she said in the video in 2-3 minutes. People's attention span on YouTube is very short. I'm not knocking her, just pointing out the fact that if she wants people to hear her message, she needs to make the video shorter. Even I have to do that = )

  • I agree that my videos are "too long" for the average YouTube channel surfer. I felt good about what I said in this video and so I kept the length. It was a conscious decision. I feel like those who need this message will get it. But for someone just bored on a Friday night, my video will probably irritate them! lol (But even when I talk for 2-3 minutes, I irritate some people because you can't please everyone and all you can do is listen to your heart.)

  • I would watch Lisa's videos no matter how long they are because she is just that awesome, as far as attention spans go speak for yerself LOL :)

  • When I'm connected to what someone is talking about, I don't notice how long the video is. But I do get your point Paul. I would have more views if I made my videos more like 2-3 minutes. I totally get that because I'm the same way with my attention span.

Curious... did I lose your attention at a certain point or are you frustrated that I don't have more views? (or both?)

  • I'll be honest with you. I watched about 20 seconds of it until I realized that the video was almost 9 minutes long. That's when I clicked out. I guess the bottom line is that you should make them as long as you want. However, the longer they are, the less people will watch it. If you have a message to convey and you want more people to hear that message, I would make them shorter. That's all I'm trying to say. Sorry if I'm being pessimistic instead of optimistic = )

  • And, most of the videos on this channel have a couple hundred views only. I suppose that's the nature of being "optimistic"... it's the negative videos that get lots and lots of views. ;-)

  • I am the same way, totally, so I GET what you're saying. I've tried to keep my messages more brief as well, but there is an occasional video where I just can't stop the flow, since I am unscripted. I really enjoyed this extended version of Lisa's video. All of her videos are of different length, so BECAUSE it was more lengthy, I was intrigued, so I guess that what makes the world go around, different strokes for different folks. XOXO

  • Too be honest, your videos are a tad too long too honey *lol* But yes you're right, different strokes for different folks = )

  • The length is only one attribute, and it is important, but it may need to be long. However, Occam's razor principal is a good framework!

  • One who learns from the past, embraces the future, those who dwell upon the past, prolong their lesson...

  • PeaceProfit, you are a gem. I love your saying. Is it all right if I use this on my channel?

    Peace,

    Penny

  • Sweet*Penny, my*truth is for all the world to see, please feel free to use it as you see fit... as each heart seeks peace...

  • This was really good! I liked it, think I'm going to start doing some of that stuff!

    ~favourited~

    :)

  • Thank you! Glad you liked it. :-)

  • Practical Tip for moving forward: Keep the area around you clean. You covered alot and you mentioned getting rid of this that and another thing, but truely a clean home will be equivalent to a clean life thus enabling you to move forward. ♥

  • That's a great tip! You're right... when the house is tidy, it makes you consciously and subconsciously aware of the "blank slate" of each day! Yay!

  • i try to keep clean here

  • Vuuuurrryy inspiring!! I'm so happy you are creating your own world to live in...it's SOOO important when entering a new chapter ;)

Really wish I could of hung out with you more...LOVE your spirit!!

  • Thanks Mishal! I'm glad you liked it. Letting go I sooooo important. We will spend more time together, I know it! LOVE your spirit too!

  • Mmmmm your sooooo beautiful your lovely!

  • Um...thank you!

  • ...but I got this Wayne Gretzky autograph from 95 should I throw it away?

This kinda reminds me of a freinds-episode, when rachel breaks up with Ross, while the others are in the other room. Joey then wonders if he should get a new walk. :)

You inspire me, Lisa Murray and I'm glad I get to enjoy you at nighttime, cause my brain works very differently/ better then.

♫ Now I've finally decided my future lies, beyond the yellow brick road ♬

cheers, and thanks for being here every friday

  • don't throw out Wayne's autograph!

I didn't see that Friends episode, will look it up!

Thank you for your support. Your support and your awesome film work inspires me!

Thank YOU for being here every Friday!

Oh, and I'm the same way at night. My mind is more open.

  • I do need to break out of my rut, but its not easy, its like a nice soft comfy chair, it just feels too good to get up lol

  • get up!

  • one more..and less dreary..will have to think more on how to let go of the past..but i still have dreams at night of people i knew or know....i want a new future with lots of success! we will see...

  • you will!

  • first view! first comment! its hard to let go of some of my past..like that girl i will always love -- that i still love, and wish i could try to change things..oh well.

  • Muhahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi John! Some things we can't let go of and there is a purpose for that. It's up to you to figure out the purpose.
