I have a Skype friend with Tourettes and brain damage. I love him, he's adorable. He embraces his syndrome and can laugh at himself, which I appreciate.
I am 16 years old I'll be 17 in a few months, and I've been diagnosed with tourette's syndrome for half of my life. And I'm here to say that, you will have problems, you will be made fun of and a lot of it is a bitch to deal with. Mine got better with age and now, most people don't even notice it unless if I'm extremely nervous. O.C.D sucks, don't lie to yourself. @MARXA123 Once you have it, you have it for life, I believe doctors are trying to figure out a way to get rid of it, but it would require a dangerous surgery of the brain and probably wouldn't be worth it, my tourettes improved over time and sometimes I forget I have it. Like for me you probably wouldn't notice anything weird unless if I was nervous, or excited, but, nobody's 'tics' is the same.
I'm doing a report on this syndrome and watching this video just opened my mind, and this little kids are so brave for speaking out and accepting themselves. It inspired me so much, and like they said they are just like us, they shouldn't be made fun of.
You are creative kids and you have a really great mind .. i believe that everyone of you will be Something great in the future .. What you have is not an issue at all :)

I am eleven and have severe tourette sydrome. No one in my family has it except me. At school it is very hard to have it because people have no feelings for others. People who make fun of people have a right to their own opinion, but that still isn't a good reason for them to do it.

hi my name is brandon, i am 15 years old. and I find that this is very sad, ive had tourrets all my life. and ive done different types of "tics", ive got asked why, and the only closes thing i can describe is its a itch you have to scratch. people always seem that its a joke, and that its funny because why cant they just not do it? its caused by the central nervous system. its like your mind is telling you over and over and over to do it, and it almost forces it out of you until you do it...
I fee; bad for these kids. So may people with problems like this (Tourettes, autism, etc) are very smart but oth people don't see it because they can't see through the disorder.

I think I have this. When I was a kid, I always coughed randomly, and the doctor could never figure out why. I had no reason to cough, but if I didn't, I got the weirdest feeling in my throat. And now, the same thing happens with my neck if I don't bend my head back.
@MrMoncriefMan That is very common with tics. The coughing and the neck bending. I would bet you do have some form of tourette's tics but if that is all you have, it's pretty mild. Best way to describe how tourette's feels is it's like trying not to blink for 5 minutes. It gets really uncomfortable until you just have to blink to relieve the urge. That has always been the best analogy i've come up with..

I just read an amazing book by James Patterson called 'torn apart'. it's the life about a child who lives with tourettes but grows into a successful man. it was great and so are all the children in this video!

My 12 yr old son is a tourettes sufferer, it is actually a neurological/muscular disorder, the muscles in his calves developed so contracted that he had surgery 2 sever the Achilles tendons + reset his ankles, he had both legs in plaster for 4 wks, then those big cam walker boots for bout 6 wks, nxt he wil wear orthotics 2 support his ankles + calves while the tendon resets in the extended position for 3-6 mths, he doesn't complain cos he can't wait 2 b abl 2 walk, run + kick a ball without pai

This isn’t an easy thing to live with, and the verbal abuse from peers can be some of the worse anyone can ever receive, because it happens all the time, and there isn’t any relief. I remember constant stairs, laughing, questions, ridicule and teasing from acquaintances, teachers, family and strangers alike growing up. These kids have a lot of courage and it makes me sad to see and know what they go through.

Hmm. Very normal kids. I've never seen actual Tourette's Syndrome people before. Always just in the media or something. It's really no worse than stuttering. But if it's just a brain "glitch", it can be fixed. Maybe not yet, but with medical technology in the near future. Especially at the ASTOUNDING rate of technological advancement in the past couple decades to the next decade or later.
@GeekingForJesus I agree with you on the being able to fix it eventually. I actually got mine VERY manageable just by changing my diet to a healthy diet vs eating garbage. The tics got a LOT better so I don't doubt there's a way we just haven't figured out yet how to cure it. I don't agree about it being no worse than stuttering though. Tourettes can be a torturous nightmare that drains every ounce of energy you got! Not sure if stuttering can do that

My ex boyfriend has tourrettes syndrome and he told me to look this video up... The thing is, when he told me to look it up, he told me not to judge him. I told him, Why would i judge you, i knew you had it before we went out. He said I have tourrettes, tourrettes doesn't have me. And I love him with everything. I know Tourettes syndrome because my close friend has it, it causes him to speak out seemingly random things and twitch a lot, but I never really notice it anymore, it's just part of who he is and it doesn't take away from who he is :)
My daughter was first diagnosed with Tourettes at age 4. Age 10 she had convulsion type tics so we took her to the neurologist. She is now seeing a phycologist who teaches her to modify her tics (so they are less obvious) and she is trialing Clonidine tablets (catapres 100) her tics are almost not there. We also decreased the sugar in her diet as we noticed this exasburated her tics. She constantly has tics but can live with them.

My tics started when I was 10 years old. Now I'm 21 and still have the tics. According to the doctors, it's not Tourette's, but they don't know what it is. So far, I move my head, shoulders and hip. I also applause, scream, make weird noises (words that doesn't exist) and take my tongue out to make "fart noises" with it.
Now, I'm taking Prozac and it's working really well. My tics are not as frequent as they used to be.

My 12 yr old son is a tourettes sufferer, it is actually a neurological/muscular disorder, the muscles in his calves developed so contracted that he had surgery 2 sever the Achilles tendons + reset his ankles, he had both legs in plaster for 4 wks, then those big cam walker boots for bout 6 wks, nxt he wil wear orthotics 2 support his ankles + calves while the tendon resets in the extended position for 3-6 mths, he doesn't complain cos he can't wait 2 b abl 2 walk, run + kick a ball without pai

I don't want to read all the comments out there (Too many). But teachers are supposed to be the ones stopping any "BAD" stuff before it happens. Having to live this at school must be terrible for any sufferers of TS especially with many undisciplined kids without manners, UNLESS you have a teacher that shares what you have to the class and makes it mandatory for everyone to accept it and then you can live your life at school too. This isn’t an easy thing to live with, and the verbal abuse from peers can be some of the worse anyone can ever receive, because it happens all the time, and there isn’t any relief. I remember constant stairs, laughing, questions, ridicule and teasing from acquaintances, teachers, family and strangers alike growing up. These kids have a lot of courage and it makes me sad to see and know what they go through.

Hmm. Very normal kids. I've never seen actual Tourette's Syndrome people before. Always just in the media or something. It's really no worse than stuttering. But if it's just a brain "glitch", it can be fixed. Maybe not yet, but with medical technology in the near future. Especially at the ASTOUNDING rate of technological advancement in the past couple decades to the next decade or later.

@GeekingForJesus I agree with you on the being able to fix it eventually. I actually got mine VERY manageable just by changing my diet to a healthy diet vs eating garbage. The tics got a LOT better so I don't doubt there's a way we just haven't figured out yet how to cure it. I don't agree about it being no worse than stuttering though. Tourettes can be a torturous nightmare that drains every ounce of energy you got! Not sure if stuttering can do that

I know Tourettes syndrome because my close friend has it, it causes him to speak out seemingly random things and twitch a lot, but I never really notice it anymore, it's just part of who he is and it doesn't take away from who he is :)

My daughter was first diagnosed with Tourettes at age 4. Age 10 she had convulsion type tics so we took her to the neurologist. She is now seeing a phycologist who teaches her to modify her tics (so they are less obvious) and she is trialing Clonidine tablets (catapres 100) her tics are almost not there. We also decreased the sugar in her diet as we noticed this exasburated her tics. She constantly has tics but can live with them.

I ABSOLUTELY love this video. I've been diagnosed with Tourette's for several years now (I'm 20 now) and its so difficult to explain what it is to people, all you can give is your own experience and a definition of it, this gives a great personal view from very intelligent kids on what Tourette's really is

My tics started when I was 10 years old. Now I'm 21 and still have the tics. According to the doctors, it's not Tourette's, but they don't know what it is. So far, I move my head, shoulders and hip. I also applause, scream, make weird noises (words that doesn't exist) and take my tongue out to make "fart noises" with it.
Now, I'm taking Prozac and it's working really well. My tics are not as frequent as they used to be.
