  • Oh my lord, my lord - this is a thing of beauty. I agree with FXIX. I listen to Coltrane or Evans at The Vanguard 50 years ago, and it's like it was recorded last month. I listen to contemporary dreck and want to leap back in time.

  • Listen to this, and listen to the music from nowadays, then listen to this again. I can't live in this planet anymore, unless time machine is built

  • That man there is God! I'm sure of this.

    Merry Christmas.

  • Every few generations comes a soul who's perception of talent is like mutations in evolution! One could rattle off a few names that have come before Bill Evans.( De Bussy, Satie, Art Tatum)

But, you would be hard pressed to name one since him!

  • @1957thack So true, I just hope to be alive long enough to witness whoever will come along with this level of talent

  • It's refreshing to hear Bill Evans straight ahead somewhat sometimes! And it's always great to hear Beautiful Love rendered by him.

  • :56....The lick :/ lol

  • It's still the best!!!

  • Fantastic stuff.

  • lool come to my room I'm all burning

  • fuck, I realize that the main melody of my self-composed jazz-ballad sounds similar to this... But I´ve never heard the song til now. :(

  • @CriticaLxThoughX Means you got same melody from Jazz master. You guys must be awesome!

  • @jane8948

it´s still frustrating, but oh well.. you´re right, the atmosphere, the rhythm and so on, is different, i sing it, yea...

  • Who are the other musicians? 'cause man, that drummer is SOOooo bad ass.

  • @Drwhispin , It's Alan Dawson and Scott LoFaro....not NHOP as some have suggested

  • @agravine096, Mistake.......it is NHOP, not Scott LoFaro. Scott was already dead when this was recorded.

  • Muy bueno!!!

  • well, now I don't know if I am 5 or 6

  • I love you Bill - RIP

  • Small clubby thing! It always happens that a fascinating movement of small minority ends up becoming that of the boring mass.

  • @namwoolala No, you weren't If you say You were born in the wrong era bacause of the music like this then make ithis music your muse, your encouragement and make more music in this style and use Evans as your influence. Make music in the style of the 50's and the 60's.

  • @thesk8rman765 i'm GUESSING that it's because of the very popular japanese anime cowboy bebop. Which has a soundtrack made up of jazz, bebop, and blues. i'm guessing now, not sure. lol

  • oh man do I love bill evans trio

  • Wonderful

  • Just pure music! Nothing else! No other entertainment needed;the music scene today lacks that...

  • It's curious how much NHOP changed his right hand technique over the years!

  • @Lottolearnstrings>Like all genius' he evolved. They never stay in one place, they continually push forward. Like the tide of an ocean, the force of a mighty river, they most flow ever forward, for it is for genius the beauty of the journey with many it's stops along the way, albeit brief. The stops were never a destination for there is no final destination. There is only the eternal search of the endless journey. Just be thankful for their beautiful contributions for life is all too short.

  • Jazz was always a small, clubby, thing....not really meant for the large concert halls one sees in europe. Jazz was cut in those small, intimate, smoky venues way into the night. It would be great if it would find larger audiences, but it's sort of against the grain in the development of jazz...jazz was always for a small minority of the culture.

  • @wdigitog There should be more small smoky jazz clubs. I would go to them every day of the week. Hmm, maybe I'll start one...

  • @wdigitog I have to respectfully disagree. Although jazz started in the brothels and speakeasies, and was relegated to the "baser" element of society, during the '30s, the Swing Era, jazz became pop music and was embraced by the culture at large. With the advent of Charlie Parker and bebop and the demise of the big band, jazz became a kind of chamber music, for which the best venues were small, intimate clubs.

  • @wdigitog

Small clubby thing... that is the stereotype of jazz understood by the unfortunately ignorant mass audience. No offense, but have you ever been to a concert hall with a 17 piece big band performing? The wall of sound will sweep you off your feet!

  • @mastersgta1 I think he meant that small combo-type jazz was most often found in small clubs, and that's true. Throughout the history of jazz, is was fairly uncommon to see a small group like this playing a packed concert hall. Of course there were exceptions, but again, it was more common in bars.

  • @wdigitog check out the V.S.O.P Quintet when they play in Japan it's like a rock concert

  • ach...

  • look at this drum-solo. the dude does this stuff while he's almost sleeping. so fucking cool.

  • This can't be Berlin 1965 'cause Scott was killed in a car accident in upstate NY driving home from the Newport Jazz festival in July of 1961............... and that's for damn sure him playing bass in the video.

  • @fjs12754

Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen (bass); Alan Dawson (drums)

  • @fjs12754 el bajista en este video es niels-henning orsted pedersen.

  • Jesus, that man's bad. No wonder Miles picked him for Kind Of Blue. Baddest of the bad in his way.

  • i don't care if r n b fills the music market..

i'll continue the legacy jazz giants left for us..

  • エバンス閣下はピアノの音色にお怒りのようです

  • I'm filled with so much love for this music, these men, and this time period

  • @disctheory i absolutly agree.

    youtube.com/watch?v=6VfFKNCxu5U

  • this is unbelievable good music, one of the pearls of the 20th century

  • I'm killin this dude

  • jazz is the hardest music, HARDEST, to learn because of the mixed beat and the different beat and you'll get mixed up easily. And they are beautiful pieces to listen to. So people, you got to be jealous to people to knows how to play jazz.

  • @braindot WOW THis Was THee wisest comment ever about jazz players. Hahahahahahha Things like this cheer up so much jazz musicians thanks for your appreciation

  • Nix Scott la Faro- he was already dead in 1965 ...

it;s a young NHØP - without the beard

he had already played with Dexter and Blakey at that time

  • @mariavasilei

I thing you're right... (looked up on the internet...)

  • I think Scott la Faro too. Niels Pederson play with 4 fingers!

  • 17 people have problems with their speakers

  • @merlyv Yeah, poor 14 guys. :P

  • @jane8948 20

  • @merlyv now its 20 people :P

  • @merlyv now, they are 20 deafs u_u

  • Pedersen was such a beautiful bass player - but what I love about this is he read the chart!!! I'm always in trouble for that - now I can feel ok to pull out the changes and then suavely put them away in my pocket afterwards. Go Neils! And Bill: well he was god, no other word for him.

  • This is just WAAAAY too chill! Hahaha, perfect(:

  • Love this. Thank you. I still remember seeing Bill at Shelly's Manne Hole in the early 60s.

  • Who knowes the drummer and bassist's names?

  • @lesginka i think the bassist's name is scott la faro..

  • @lesginka - Bassist is Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen - GREAT bassist.

  • @JRR951 - Bassist is Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen.

  • I think the drummer is Alan Dawson ~ so tasteful . Only John Ramsay would know for sure. I'll ask him.

Laurie Verchomin author of The Big Love ~ Life and Death with Bill Evans

  • @shima6ri Thank your comment, and it just happened to be same as cliché. But it's not cliché to me.

  • who's the drummer? he's awesome

  • this is precious i love jazz <33

  • Looks like the dude's beatin' the meat from 1:12-1:32.

  • @dougdougdoug456 That's because when you get as immersed in the music as Bill was, it can feel almost as good.

  • @gmaq92 Yeah he's having fun.

  • His face on 1:11=WIN!

  • Wow it's nice to see this has so many views!

  • many people like the fucking rock metal songs , Just a dip shit with no fucking words in it only screams , In jazz you can feel the song and it gives you deep feels

  • @clock0789 well there is something about the chords (don't ask me i'm not particularly musical) that gives everything a kind of... medium. Almost like it's telling you something but doesn't want to make too strong a point. It's very reserved, I think, is what i mean.

  • Why not? This is classical jazz, and classical Bach and others is also still admired.

I like this music, thank you for posting it.
