Noooo someone spilled the beans on KCET about this place. Now it's like an hour wait to get a bag of those yummy donuts... it's always about the donuts.......... and duck lake along the way down from snow line. Anyone go for a picnic there after visiting the orchards? I always go in those huge metal pipe drains for laughs :P
We had rain yesterday and it's freezing today so they might still have snow there. You should drive up and see. My daughter went after I called her about the snow.
We went there last saturday and there was a lot of beautiful snow on the ground, made it feel more like Christmas. I got lots of pix and video for a christmas music video. Bought apple cider too, so delicious.
Oh, that sounds so beautiful! I've never been during Christmas, but I know they also have some neat events going on. Let us know when you post your Christmas music video! Merry Christmas! Veronica
I work at Rileys Log cabbin. The ORIGINAL RILEYS! I guess the Riley family had a big split up in the past and now there are 2 farms. Its a great place to work! I just wish the apple season was longer. Probably out of a job in like 10 days...
cool, i went here today...i love the farm life, never experienced it before. i picked pears, strawberries, apples (of course), and we bought apple cider, and we asked a bunch of people about apple doughnuts, everyone said the havent heard of it.
What a great place! I grew up in SoCal and never heard of the place. I would love to have had included a map and general driving times from various SoCal locations included in the video, but it was good that you included the info on the website to get more info..
Yes, it's one of the undiscovered little gems that really goes off during the fall. It's a great place for families. Thanks for the tips about the map and driving times. I'll be sure to add those in future videos!
Been years since I have been to Oak Glen, although it is less than an hour away. This video planted the seed to make the trip in the next week or so. It makes a great outing for those in the Los Angeles area.
That was tasty ... I'm inspired! Very nice work. :) I wouldn't touch a thing other than lowering the intro music a tad.
While I can't swing a trip to California, I'm definitely driving over to our local orchard to pickup some fresh apples, cider, and oh yeah, those heavenly yet forbidden apple donuts ...
Cool video. You know what would help? A title screen that included the subject's name. I kept hearing "Oakland" when of course it's "Oak Glen". Yes, the YouTube page says that, but if this video's ever embedded that'll be lost.
"....heaven in a bag." That does it. I am buying a plane ticket now to come out there. This was an amazing video. I am off to tell all my newsletter subscribers about it! Congrats Veronica!

Do not go to Riley's Farm. It's not local grown, AND I found worms in my apples from them.
I've always found the best farm to go to for my apples, especially PINK LADIES, is Mom's County Orchards, which is in Oak Glen as well.

I agree. It's such a fun, cute little town with great restaurants and nice people. I'm still dreaming of the apple cider donuts. Yum!

I've always wondered why there was more than one Rileys. Seems like it is a fun place to work. Too bad the season is so short. Thanks for commenting!
