They go to my church, and my pastor interviewed them about their faith. They were very guarded in the way they spoke about Jesus, and that disappointed my mom. I understand, though, because they are part of Disney, which, as clean as it usually is, is not Christian. Their career revolves partially around pleasing everyone, so they have to be very careful about what they say. I do think that a relationship with God is something to be proud of, though. They should open up just a little more.
No, I'm Protestant-Nondenominational. I have nothing against Catholics, though. A lot of my best friends are Catholic. Most Protestants don't believe that you can have a "one-on-one connection", as Nick says, with Jesus if you're Catholic, but I don't think so. I think anyone can have a personal realtionship with God, and the way you worship determines your denomination, not your standing with God.
I find it really sad that most of their fans dont know they are Christians. Thats something they shouldnt be hiding. They should be sharing their faith with the world. I mean, they've got millions of people watching thier every move, what better way to shine God's light to the world!

MJ, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Madonna all lacked humility. They drew attention to themselves, very rarely if at all, thanking Jesus for their gifts. It seems the JB want to be like them. Michael W. Smith is a good example of a Christian song artist who gives thanks to God for his talents and does not draw attention to himself. His audience applauds and looks up to Jesus. No, because it means that they are going to Heaven, which they deserve more than most humans. Christians want more than just good role models. We want people to really give their lives to God so that they'll always have security, even when their lost and alone, that someone loves them and is with them, and that when they die, they'll be with Jesus for the rest of eternity. And if more kids were "just like them", prisons would be a lot less full.

so, i must say that I don't think that there is anything wrong with the type of music they sing, but i would be nice if they were a little more outspoken about their faith. I'm not saying that they need to be all like "Jesus is the way!" at their concerts, but maybe when they win an award at award shows thanking God, or saying God bless at the end of their concerts.

I have seen God continue to bless me and others around me. With everything that happens, he has a reason behind it. We may not understand it, but thats how he works. Just because they are Christians doesn't mean they have to do mainly Christian songs. Bono is a Christian and he doesn't write Christian music. Switchfoot is also a band of Christians but they stated in an interview that they don't want to have their music directed just towards the Christian crowds but they also want to reach nonChristians. They aren't a secular band but they preach about Christ and how he died saving us.

Nah... Music can really be about anything. I write songs all the time. Some of them are worship songs, but a lot of them are love songs and such. They're definitely real Christians, but their music doesn't have to be all religious--I don't think I'd like them much if it was. Religious music bugs the crud outta me, unless it's really really good, and they do much better with the pop stuff.

If you're a christian you have to believe EVERYTHING in the bible. God has made it clear that he wont except people who pick and choose what they want to believe out of the bible. He says He'll spew the lukewarm Christians from His mouth. Symbolically meaning that he's not going to take you into heaven when you die if you have one foot on each side of the fence. You are either for Him or against Him. He's made that abundantly clear.

The phrase 'separation of church and state' is not even in the constitution. That phrase was Thomas Jeffersons 'opinion' of what the constitution said. The phrase was pulled from a private letter between him and some religious friends. There is NO separation of church and state in the constitution. Show me word for word where it says 'separation of church and state.'

It is just like our law. If you are driving over the speed limit your punishment is a financial fine to drive, you agreed to follow the rules of the road. Yet you disobey those rules and you, again, will be punished. The people of the Old Testament agreed to follow Gods rules, and if they didn't they would be punished for it.
It was only through law and sacrifices that these people were able to be seen rightly in a sense in Gods eyes. This was so until, the death and resurrection of Christ on the cross.
The point is that these people who were being judged by Gods law were the people who accepted His law. By accepting it they say, I will act the way you want of me God and if I dont then I shall be punished. The reason for Gods law and judgment runs all the way back to Adam and Eve, when they disobeyed God. Because of their sin, humans are separated from Yahweh.
That being said, God was still seen as Sovereign and Just because everything He does is perfect and right. The New Testament, through Christs redemptive work on a cross did away with the old law set forth, thus we are under grace, not law.
No they weren't permitted by God to beat their slaves. I just told you that. It's just like having a maid or a butler today. Nowhere in the Bible is slavery condoned. And I answered those first because they were smaller passages.
They were different times back then. There wasn't eternal damnation in the old testament because there had been no savior yet. That is why God punished those people the way he did. Do you see him destroying nations today? No. That is where hell comes in.
I apologize I stated this very wrongly. There was hell, the people in the old testatment were able to look forward to the Savior. God destroyed those people in order to save the world from corruption, the corruption they brought.

First, the God of the Old Testament is the God of the New Testament. During Old Testament times, God shown himself through many ways such as Angels and forms. He gave His Word and law directly to the people (through Moses). God made many covenants with the people. Very clearly made was that if anyone was to disobey God and His laws (thus people were under law) they were to be punished. All was a result of the Curse. People were killed for doing wrong.
And that is where my problem lies with christianity. I do not believe that 1 gay people 2 disobeient children and 3 unbelievers should be put to death and I'm pretty sure that you're not evil enough to disagree. Isn't that what hells for? Punishment? Why should god have to punish people (so severely which is my real problem with all of this) twice? Once in this life and then again in the afterlife?

My original points were relating to christianity, not a belief in a god and not evolution or the big bamg theory. No, because it means that they are going to Heaven, which they deserve more than most humans. Christians want more than just good role models. We want people to really give their lives to God so that they'll always have security, even when their lost and alone, that someone loves them and is with them, and that when they die, they'll be with Jesus for the rest of eternity. And if more kids were "just like them", prisons would be a lot less full.

so, i must say that I don't think that there is anything wrong with the type of music they sing, but i would be nice if they were a little more outspoken about their faith. I'm not saying that they need to be all like "Jesus is the way!" at their concerts, but maybe when they win an award at award shows thanking God, or saying God bless at the end of their concerts.

Just because they are Christians doesn't mean they have to do mainly Christian songs. Bono is a Christian and he doesn't write Christian music. Switchfoot is also a band of Christians but they stated in an interview that they don't want to have their music directed just towards the Christian crowds but they also want to reach nonChristians. They aren't a secular band but they preach about Christ and how he died saving us.
You don't have to be a Christian band because everyone is Christian.

Nah... Music can really be about anything. I write songs all the time. Some of them are worship songs, but a lot of them are love songs and such. They're definitely real Christians, but their music doesn't have to be all religious--I don't think I'd like them much if it was. Religious music bugs the crud outta me, unless it's really really good, and they do much better with the pop stuff.

The phrase 'separation of church and state' is not even in the constitution. That phrase was Thomas Jeffersons 'opinion' of what the constitution said. The phrase was pulled from a private letter between him and some religious friends. There is NO separation of church and state in the constitution. Show me word for word where it says 'separation of church and state.'

The point is that these people who were being judged by Gods law were the people who accepted His law. By accepting it they say, I will act the way you want of me God and if I dont then I shall be punished. The reason for Gods law and judgment runs all the way back to Adam and Eve, when they disobeyed God. Because of their sin, humans are separated from Yahweh.

No they weren't permitted by God to beat their slaves. I just told you that. It's just like having a maid or a butler today. Nowhere in the Bible is slavery condoned. And I answered those first because they were smaller passages.
They were different times back then. There wasn't eternal damnation in the old testament because there had been no savior yet. That is why God punished those people the way he did. Do you see him destroying nations today? No. That is where hell comes in.

First, the God of the Old Testament is the God of the New Testament. During Old Testament times, God shown himself through many ways such as Angels and forms. He gave His Word and law directly to the people (through Moses). God made many covenants with the people. Very clearly made was that if anyone was to disobey God and His laws (thus people were under law) they were to be punished. All was a result of the Curse. People were killed for doing wrong.

Why would you not want to share a free gift that will save you from eternal damnation? I don't think you quite understand the idea of Christianity, or any religion for that matter.

As regards what I believe, I believe that all relgions are made up bullshit founded on unprovable beliefs designed to give quick and easy answers to people too lazy and stupid to think for themselves and to stop people from fearing their own mortality. The only reason you are a christian is because you were born in a christian family. If you were born into a muslim family you'd be a muslim, a hindu family and you'd be a hindu etc

Not to mention the fact that christianity preaches that god sends people to eternal torture in hell if they don't believe in jesus. Why? Because a talking snake led two human beings to eat an apple from a tree which gave them the ability to distinguish between right and wrong (morals). Then there's also the fact that god in the bible has regularly killed millions of innocent children and has told his follwers to do the same if they belong to unbelieving familes. Just check out deutoronomy 13.

And there wouldn't be such a thing as faith if all the answers were right there in front of you... Even so, where is the proof in evolution, in Buddhism and all the other religions around the world.

First of all no you don't have to hope in something. Second of all even if you did that doesn't make the your relgion any more likely to be true as all religions give hope to their members. Since all of these relgions contradict each other it's obvious that just because something gives you hope doesn't make it true.

Or revering a book which tells you to stone gay people to death, that its ok to sell your daughter into slavery and that the world was crerated magically 6,000 years ago?
