  • Love this album....have that cassette some where

  • even I am young for this song and I m in my 40's ha ha I love it though

  • even I am young for this song and I m in my 40's ha ha

  • I always thought Annie Lennox sang this song...

  • OMG what a cool song! I LOVE this song. Every time I hear it, I feel like getting up and dancing. One of the best dance tunes EVER!!

  • One of my alltime favourite songs. This song never fails to catapult me back to the early 80s, when I was growing up. Total time warp. I love it.

  • I was born the year this song came out. Alison Moyet had that mature and hella good voice and Vince Clarke tearing it up on the synthesizer. What a bad-ass team they were! This song is one of the reasons why I love 1980s music to death. Fuck music these days, except for Drake, Lloyd Banks, Wiz Khalifa, Eminem, and the criminally underrated AVANT.

  • nicaragua 1988

  • nicaragua 1988

  • Snoop sucks balls? u are a pure idiot . Snoop dogg is an icon! old bitch

  • @tjaam23 its easy to say it over the keyboard and not to his face!

  • Snoop Dog sucks balls. If you really want to hear a musician influenced by Vince Clark, try Trent Reznor.

  • @iWearLacoste Spot on!!

  • love how everyone thinks this was heidi montags song. that plasic barbie doll, wasnt even born when this came out

  • LOL everyone thought they was black..who knew white people had this much soul..!! i love 80z music I was very young when my parents played this ..I like the Snoop Dogg -Tpain-Boom they sampled this beat nicely

  • @FreshPrinceofTB Umm why would people think they were black? Did these same people also think Eurythmics and Depeche Mode were black?

  • @iWearLacoste

People thought they were black because the black stations had this song in constant rotation. It was big in the clubs.

  • @MeanGino Thanks for explaining that. On the other side of the coin, I wonder if any new wave clubs ever played Run DMC. lol

  • @iWearLacoste

no prob. I play still play it on my iPod classic about twice a week...

  • waitin for a new GTA vice city make it badass in the 80s bring all the badass music back bitch!

  • I like this song much better than Snoop Dogg's version. That laugh in the beginning of the song sounds like the same laugh from the song Macarena.

  • @bigdawg8412 yup, THIS one's all the *original*. Vince Clarke, the songwriter/keyboardist is the GOD of SYNTHS. I'm not surprised that Snoop and just about any rapper, dance musician or what not either COPIED riffs from Vince and/or Depeche Mode. And yea, same laugh sample in MACARENA...that's ALISON MOYET, one badass singer!

  • Who've have thought Snoop and TPain knew this song?!

Another great high school memory. :)

  • @Nostalgia2AKA everyone thought that Yaz / Yazoo were BLACK when this was released in 1982 ;-)

  • This was one of my fav techno in the 80's.

I always blasted the speakers on this one. LOL...

  • ALGUIEN PUEDE AYUDARME COMO BAJAR ESTA CANCION A MI CEL SALUDOS A TODOS POR CAMPARTIR ESTA BUENA MUSICA DE LOS AÑOS 80"S

  • @mutten1 Its kinda like pop without all the sexyness/slutyness

  • DUDE Snoop dogg used this track!! not even close to being as good as the orignal though :)

  • Most of the music today sucks! I rlly wish i could of grown up in the 80's. Tired of all this Dub Step people are listening to today and lil wayne.

  • Snoop dogg "boom" feat. tpain

  • @92badblood This is still better then what snoop dogg did, he just put a spotlight on it really.

  • @92badblood this song is waaaay older than that song lol

  • i ♥ song *-*

  • Rolex...... I LOVE this song I can't wait to graduate from college so I can cruise in my Triple Black Corvette and Cruze the SUNSET Strip BLASTING this song!!!!!!!!

  • Yo! The laugh in the beginning is totally the same laugh in the beginning of The Macarena!

  • This song is just too catchy to pass up. Heard it while driving so many times and wondered who the hell plays this. Finally found it. And I prefer black and death metal lol

  • THis song still has it. Grabs me from its first note.

  • this takes me back to growing up in Riverdale .... driving up & down henry hudson parkway (& sometimes as far as the taconic), just driving, smoking, listening to all kinds of music & singing. I miss you Erica, and I will never forget you.

    Nov 9, 1965 - Sep 10, 1990.

  • @beentheredunnthat You mean Riverdale, Maryland?

  • or Riverdale, New York?

  • @KodyBoy555 Riverdale New York. You know it ??

  • Did Vince Clarke do the keyboards for this song?

  • @jimbodude747 Yes - Yazoo was Alison Moyet on vocals and Vince Clark on everything else. The minimalist production has aged surprisingly well - I love the kick drum sound ("bip bip bip bip")

  • Did Vince Clarke do the keyboard and other effects for this song?

  • Reminds me of old arcade games and nes. Everything was 8-bit and simple.

  • people....don´t forget it´s from year 82!....wow!

  • Being at Confetti's in Dallas................Whew, danced my ass off there.

  • kool

  • For some reason, this song reminds me of World War 1.

  • OMG I luv this song

  • l Iove 1st Wave on XM

  • @mopacman511 Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not a huge 80s fan to be honest, I feel like they overdid it with the synthesizers, plus rock was really shitty then.

I like this song though, early 80s had some sweet music.

  • I thought their name was YAZOO? Hmm, I'm confused. iTunes also called them "Yaz"

  • @bumblebee943045

    yaz=USA

    Yazoo=everywhere else

  • its no big surprise that EVERYONE likes 80s music....now if you like 20s...thats wicked.

  • @gothiccitizen Agreed..it seems like a new trend to love 80's music now.

  • Yah, Alison rocks!

  • I say 'Hugh Downs' in my head instead of 'move out'. It makes it fun.

  • @Mike7124 its nice to see theres people out there who truly get it

  • Proper music. Back to the 80's for me........!

  • ˙uʍop-ǝpısdn ɹıɐɥɔ ǝbɐssɐɯ ɐ uı ɯı ˙ǝɯosǝʍɐ sı ɔısnɯ ɟo ɹǝʍod ǝɥʇ

  • Comment removed

  • @akiddlydivy2 The singer is FEMALE!

  • Classic. I grew up in some of the 70s and mostly the 80s. Back then hip hop embraced songs like this, whether you were a breaker or popper , it was time to bring the cardboard or mat out and do ya thing.

  • heidi SAMPLED this...there's a difference. she didn't steal it she got permission to use this

  • i actually prefer heidi montags version...

  • Calling all B-Boys nd Girls

  • i'm getting old :(

  • omg its like heidi montag 's body language!!! what a bitchh she stol it !!

  • It was released on 15 March 1982. I graduated from high school 3 months later, and i remember this being popular (here in the US) when I started college that fall.

  • Do you know how it has been for me to find this? I have so many awesome memories when I hear this! This is the ultimate dance jam! Now my kids are the age I ws when this was out!!! This just made my day!!

  • AWSOME SONG!!!!!!!!!

  • o hell ya...wed go out and hit up all the clubs in salt lake city and the gay ones too. they were so fun to party with.! not one person sittin down for yaz, depeche mode, madonna....all of them were fantastic!

  • Ditto on upstairs at Erics - i listened to that album on repeat ALL DAY LONG whatever I was doing!

  • Thumbs up if you used to breakdance to this

  • @kt3399 America used to rule. Until the 21st century hit and now we have a bunch of dumb artists that are nothing compared to the artists from the 60's-90's.

  • Cool !!!

  • Sandy, here is the song you are talking about. Charlie used to play this ALL the time!

  • The album Upstairs at Eric's is nothing short of *CLASSIC*--and that's putting it lightly.

  • MY dad showed me a CD of all of the songs he listened to when he was in high school, and this one caught my ears attention

  • This song is gonna be 30-years old in two years... But it didn't age at all IMO :D

  • @Quartrez Most certainly, especially when you consider it's just been sampled in Snoop Dogg's new song 'Boom.

  • WOW this rhythm is AWESOME... I can't believe don't know of this song and keep listening to Heidi Montag and Saturdays 8D I mean come on ... it is all imitation XD ahahhha ... well ... it is right o_O

dont even try to tell me she didnt totally rip off the beat of this song! you can sooo tell.

  • @justtellmelies They did not just rip the beat, they ripped everything !

  • The Yazoo (known in the United States as Yaz) was a British synthpop duo, formed in Basildon, Essex. They had some songs in the Top 10 hit in early 1980. It was formed in late 1981 by a former member of Depeche Mode, composer Vince Clarke (keyboards) and singer Alison Moyet (vocals), signing the label Mute Records, the United Kingdom.

The debut single "Only You" (the B side had hit the "Situation"), was released on March 15, 1982 and peaked at no. 2 the charts. by Helder (Brazil)

  • @Starbuck0123 I love when my highschool plays "Manic Monday" over the announcements on Monday mornings before the bell rings. It just fits the mood of everyone really well :)

  • @Starbuck0123 nice to see there ARE some younger people that get it©

  • @Starbuck0123 rock on dude, i'm 19, but my folks turned me to 80's and before. most of today's music sucks anyway.

  • The 80's was the shit.... Ya Digg

  • Good freaking song ... any time its played or heard by the wife ... she's up up dancing around and shaking that thang !!!

Any song that provides jaw dropping eyecandy for my viewing pleasure like this one does is good to go for me !!!

  • This song was played in the latter part of Game 2 of the 2007 NBA Finals when the Spurs were killing CLeveland at San Antonio just like they did in Game 1 at San Antonio as well. So when I hear this song I think of Parker and Ginobili running a weave as this song plays and Ginobili eventually scores a layup.

  • MY MY MY, THIS IS GLORIOUS MUSIC TO WATCH STRIPPERS ON POLES TO.

    The Magnificent Dr. Ass

  • this could so be the song they play in the background when NFL network does a story of a Football team's season from the 80s

  • luv this tune, propa chunky synth house, gona get on vinyl 4 def

  • what does this song means???

  • I cannot figure out the meaning, either. It is a darn good song, though!! :)

  • This Song Is Good Song To Dance To. This Song Came Out In 1982.

  • how poetic.

  • yeah, but this IS a good song to dance to. and it did come out in 1982... so whats the issue?

  • @kittshigh I thought it came out in 1988 .

  • @kittshigh lmfao

  • this song is soooo silly. =]

  • yaz rocks

  • great aerobic music !

  • My 1st taste of techno-dance music. Never forget my 1st......

  • so infectious...pumps real good.

  • pure sound. love it.

  • say it ain't so!

  • New Look, Same Great Taste!

  • There was another band of the same name...so name change

  • They changed their name ONLY in the USA willowbud and they changed their name because a milkshake company wanted to sue, not another band. They were always and always will be known as YAZOO in the UK, their home country.

  • Thanks for the insight

  • no problem, I was young at the time so remember it all very well!

  • It's not like us American's said, "Yazoo?...what a stupid name" and changed it on our own. They labeled themselves Yaz for American audiences, don't blame us, it was their call to tour as such. Either way I love them.

  • eff heidi montag for stealing those sick beats. her song "body language" is so incredibly bad.

  • WHO CARES

Yaz or Yazoo... SAME GREAT BAND

  • yeah they actually had a lawsuit b/c of the name

  • sorry lisa thier only known as Yaz in the US

  • they changed their name to Yaz for American audiences, bands seem to stupidly change little things for america i dont know why

  • I think it's because some of us Americans are too lawsuit trigger happy.

Example: Mike Bison (Japanese name) from Street Fighter 2; name changed to Balrog in the US to avoid lawsuits from Mike Tyson.

  • lisatopp~

    You Are Correct!

  • I refuse to call them Yaz....they have always been Yazoo...

  • of course! so stupid are the people who call them Yaz.. it always have been, and it will stay Yazoo! pff idiots

  • what year is this song from?

  • 1981

  • Barcyorky, I could've sworn it came out in '81 also but when I looked it up it said that it came out in '82.

  • Thanks tanyatmr, I guess middle age brings it's memory fuzziness! I was 15 that year and it was a LONG time ago!

Great song still though eh? As are most from the 80's!!

  • Incorrect. Yazoo were named after the famous blues record label from the USA. As another band was using the Yazoo name in the USA, Yazoo had to change the name to YAZ in the states. The NEW Yazoo "IN YOUR ROOM" 2008 Boxset has a DVD docuemntary which explains this,

  • I feel like I am back at the Empire Roller Rink in Brooklyn all over again!

  • OH MY LORD AND HEAVEN! I have been trying to find this song I saw the movie Starter for 10 on HBO! I am 32 and haven't heard this song since I was 9! You have made my day that much better! I never knew the name of the song.

  • i never knew the singer for yaz was a woman. my mind is blown

  • The Ladie's name is Alison Moyet, she has a very successful solo career now and there is an extensive page about her on wikipedia, if it helps.

  • I also thought that she was a guy too until I saw the video :)
