I am (or rather I was) a Pearl Jam fan but really the chart of this song is as jwcallahan9 has put it... and sadly Pearl Jam had lost their shine from the early days - now they sound like the typical exhausted rock band that has nothing more to say after 20 years and just records new songs 'cause of the habit.

yea its your opinion that Tom Petty sings it best, but no matter how you look at it, this is not a lame cover, he sings it and plays well, just because its a different take on it doesnt make it lame

Yeah.. Petty had an energy that neither Cash nor vedder brought to teh hook.. He did it best by far... that said, this is a nice version and so was Cash's version.
