There are so many immature comments to this thread. I hope for heaven sakes this is not coming from actual adults. Grant validity to the sport and athletes and stop all this senseless xenophobic vitriol between swimmers based on nationality...grow up!
It took a heck of a lot of guts to come back out and compete. I'd love it if he could get more competitive and surprise people in London. Go Thorpedo!
@Hem4fiction On the contrary, you begin to lose speed/endurance at around 30 years of age. Muscles just lose their elasticity and can't exert the same force. Still though, he's impressive!
Thorpe needs to stay home and learn to knit or something. His glory days are over, let the young guns like Eamon Sullivan and James Magnessun shine! Who wants to see Thorpe's flabby, old butt in a Speedo? Yuck! Let's see the young Aussies battle with the Americans!
@samuelflower Most of the entire worldwide swimming community want to see the Thorpedo make a successful comeback. Call us nostalgic, but those were the best days of swimming, before the suit era left most world records virtually untouchable. Thorpe was the man in 2000 and 2004, some of us want him to succeed just so we can remember past greatness. True we should give the young guys a chance, but if Thorpe is competitive by the Australian olympic trials, why not let him go for it?
I like Thorpe. I'd like to see him win a medal in London. I hope he gets in good enough shape to contend with Phelps and Lochte in the 200m freestyle.
Mr Thorpe, we wish you all the best on your preparation to the road to London 2012. Whatever the outcome, you are already a living swimming legend. - Best wishes, a fan from Singapore.
To have the great swimmer in the line-up is just awesome. His return and presence alone was an aspiration to the young and seasoned. Never mind about the mediocre result. We wish you well in London.
@goestyou As if your any better. so STFU.. Give the guy credit for what he is doing. Its not easy to come back like that and even though he got 6th place, its a big achievement.. A true sportsman/woman knows what i mean and clearly your not!!!
@goestyou hahaha.. well i dont know whats pathetic.. A guy who doesn't know anything about sports or sportsmanship or some wanna be tough guy showing off on Youtube to get some attention.. STFU dude and get a life..!! your talking like a grown up,but clearly.. ur acting like a kid!! I say what i feel and feel what i say.. Even if its knocking some sense to this so called grown up person who doesn't know s**t about sportsman ship but still wants to run his mouth!
@goestyou lol i'm not ripping on him moron i'm a fan of him myself but that suit isn't as good as the others right now so i'm just worried that he won't be in the same position as the others
and u my dear sir are a hater, u didn't even get what i was trying to say and u attacked me well done
hes gone from a full body suit to not even wearing a cap hmm... me likes xD

His breastroke is what needs more training, for the whole entire race other than that, he was on the pace to getting at least third.
