  • The actual latency is pretty low, it's a lot better than I expected.

  • Everyone acted like xbox invented hands free gaming. The pseye does all kind of crap that kinect does. I can use it to go through menu, play games with only movements, and check out kung fu live goofy but hilarious. Don't get me wrong kinect does the hands free stuff better but let's remember sony did this first. Now have fun with kinectimals...haha

  • @giutarhero999 can eyetoy sense depth or 3d nope nuf said keep your heap of shit

  • its really not lag... lag is something to do with your internet connection.. this is ping, ping is the amount of time it takes for the action to go through to the game..

  • lag is horrible *pukes from nausea*

  • the lag hasnt gone anywhere, its still exactly the same. and it will fuck with any type of gameplay that is not casualfag bowling. like the idea of getting owned in cod, because someone else is using a pad? or spinning your car out in forza, because there is no way you can react in time?

  • Call me when there is no more lag, i wait in PS3 Move room :)

  • @astronaute ok you join the intendo wii rip off still i would stick with something that was original

  • @GothicSoltrain You are right it is original but it is only for lag lovers. In few years it will be better, for now I stick with technology that just "works" as intended. Stay assured, I do appreciate your beta testing for Kinect.

  • @astronaute it works what crap you talking about a couple of seconds big deal point being that advanced in a way sony failed i mean they bring a wii rip off out then attempt to copy kinects idea using eyetoy i do agree they should of worked on the lag before releasing it to the public but apart from it just being a gaming tool it has more use then just for that

  • @GothicSoltrain LOL scrub your gona stick to something original ? if thats the case go back and play space

invaders.. games wouldnt be where they are today if it wasn't for people copying / building of those old school games.....also "sony attempt to copy kinects idea using eyetoy" eyetoy came out way before Kinect did on ps2 if anything kinect copied the eye toy.

  • @SilentDeath100 again notice the word "attempted and add the word "failed where sony failed microsoft went 1 step further fair enough i give credit where its due for a piece of shit that wasan't as advanced but please don't even attempt to make that piece of shit seem half as decent its only humiliating yourself SCRUB your a douche

  • @GothicSoltrain LOL KOOL STORY BRO !!!.. god if i new you where a little kid i wouldnt have even bothered commenting =.=" .. use my word scrub in capitals then follow it up with a childish come back "douche" lol plzz.... im humiliating myself LOL !!!!! your the one saying you want to stick to originality my comment was perfectly legit so your the one humiliating yourself. aww to mean ???? im a mean douche now ???

  • Now its fixed abit, its just 1/4 part of a secound to late and you wont even notice that while playing. If you want it to cath your movements in real time it need to connect to your brain and predict what you are gonna do.

  • OH COME ON!!

  • Has anybody noticed it always seem to be THIS particular game lagging yet all the Motion Sports ones look perfect?

  • im worried about if is a software AND a hardware prob (processor)

if they are gonna fix it via software, cool

but if is a processor problem what? i need to wait to the next console? =S

  • You can't feel any lag with the Kinect. I don't notice it in the game play. If you really want 1:1 go play dodge ball irl or something.

  • Owned this since it came out. Im very pleased with it. So is everyone who i've played it with. I dont understand why there is such a huge war between KINECT and MOVE. People saying one or the other sucks or fails. I've played them both and they're both pretty sweet. I just feel bad for Nintendo this holiday season.

  • Way more lag than ps move.

  • Rallyball doesn't even look like that anymore. And yeah theyve almost completely fixed the lag. I just played it for the first time like 3 hours ago

  • There's lag to this degree in almost every device... And also I'm going to have to assume that the TV they're using is known for a fact not to lag at all, as MOST HDTV's have lag to some degree....

  • Well there has to be some lag. Ever seen security cameras with their lag? Now imagine, the kinect is basically a camera, except it captures your movements, then changes that data into something the xbox 360 can read then display it on screen.

  • they never fixed the speed!

  • fyi this video was put out on january 15th way before kinect was released

  • Microsoft is an IDIOT for not utilizing some sort of device that you hold or stick on your body. I mean wtf man, this is similiar to playing an First Person Shooter game that has like 10-15 Frames Per Second!

Playstation Move would be like playing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare with 60 Frames Per Second! And i don't own a PS3, i own an Xbox 360 [obviously the better choice for too many reasons.] so this isn't coming from a PS3 fanboy.

Bottom line is Sony clearly wins with PS3 Move.

  • @DoctorPlay What on earth are you talking about? What does it have to do with FPS? do you even know what you're saying?

  • Perhaps they shouldn't have removed that processor from the unit after all? Or maybe it would have been even more ridiculously expensive then?

  • Just to clear something up quickly, ps3's move also suffers from latency, although the augmentation is substituted over the already-latened image coming from its camera.

Instead, microsoft opted to have the complete graphical representation on the screen.. so the lag is much more noticeable. The good thing is that kinect can do what the ps3 eye does and more, so it will really be up to the game developers.. and if they can do it right it SHOULD be just as good as the wii in terms of latency.

  • @CalabreseMPC that makes no sense wtf, you said

although the augmentation is substituted over the already-latened image coming from its camera.

itf thats true then the latency would look the same as kinect, a 2 second delay from your initial movement. The technology just isnt here yet man, and dont forget the ps eye can still track your body even without the controller. So in a sense it still has some capabilities of the kinnect a.k.a controller-less gameplay.

  • @koga871

What I mean is that with the PS3 move, for arguments sake, you could have a sword placed in your hand 1:1 with the latened video feed on the screen. This does not happen with kinect since that is not how the system works. It makes the latency seem more noticeable. Through some stuff i've seen the latency isn't all that bad though, and you're right, the tech just isn't quite there yet. But at least it is getting started. I think you will see two quite different directions taken by both.

  • @CalabreseMPC. Ok the ps move has 1:1 motion tracking cause it doesnt use infrared lasers like the kinect. The way it works is kinda like motion capture u see studios use in 3d animation and gaming. The xbox kinect isnt showing the latency on purpose to say :"hey here is our original un-edited product" but its latency is there because it simply cant do 1:1 motion tracking. Kinda like playing games on your webcam. Trust me dude the system isnt showing the latency on purpose, its design just sucks

  • looks the same today

  • this is obviously a prototype, so its not going to be perfect atm.

  • @luketherocker123 Have you seen the "Prototype" by Sony PlayStation 3 Move ? At least they fixed the latency issue before taking it to the public. M$ is actually proud of their piece of crap. I can't believe it.

  • @MaggoTDiluteD - What difference does 'taking it to the public' make? All we need to see (at E3) is that latency is not enough to effect gameplay in the final product. Because of the nature of the product, lag is always going to be there to some extent, but if it really is 0.1 seconds at most as previously suggested, then that's perfectly fine. As for being a piece of crap, that's a rather fanboyish attitude when Natal hasn't been fully revealed as yet. So let's wait for E3 and then judge. :)

  • this is the only problem i have with natal, and I doubt it will get fixed when its released. I still think it looks fun though.

  • wtf

  • BTW I've heard that now they are making Natal 2.0, which means the first version WILL suck, period.

You can give me thumb downs and all, but you'll see...

  • All you fanboys shut the fuck up

  • I Hate when people talk about the Move and dont even understand it. It is not a copy of nintendo because it doesn't use gestures. It has a camera that allows it to track the controller 1:1. Much more accurate than natal and especially the wii. It what everyone thought the wii was going to be way back when. Oh yeah, ps3 also comes with the best game lineup. so even if you dont like move you have something better to do. Instead of payin for a console you will never use.

  • It is a 'copy' really, just as Natal is a copy of the ZCam, and Sixaxis is a copy of MS's FreeStyle Pro gamepad from 1998. Copy is too strong a word though, since technology builds upon the past, hence PSMove is an enhanced version of the Wiimote with Motion+. Regarding gestures, that's really a game choice, much of the control in the Wii games Mario Galaxy & Metroid Prime 3 is 1:1, with gestures used for specific functions. With PSMove, most demos were 1:1, but Motion Fighters is gesture based.

  • right: move its a 3d movement ;) - thats a big difference of wii.

  • this is what happens when microsoft decides to remove the "natal chip" and depend purely on software... dumbasses.

  • @Vnix - This is the SAME Natal prototype demo shown at E3 last year, this is the only version of Natal they show in public, therefore it has nothing to do with the CPU being removed. No-one outside of MS (and the devs) have seen the latest version of Natal, but it is said to be much improved over the version seen in that video, despite the removal of the CPU. In fact, removing the CPU has probably *improved* it's performance, but at the expense of some of the 360's memory and processing power.

  • @MTMind2 Well if they fix it and it works fine, then fine, problem solved. However I thought it would be software mode being because software isn't usually capable of handling this kind of performance demand. I don't think this is good for game development either because there would be less resources then what should be available from the start for a game, Microsoft is a "Software" company, they would know this. It always ends up trying to save money.

  • I agree about the lag Vnix. MS say lag is improved in the latest prototypes, hence they'll need to prove it at E3.

I was disappointed when the built-in CPU was removed, because Natal now requires 10-15% of the 360's resources! But the advantage is that the software can be updated/improved, and Natal will be more reliable and cheaper (some say $50), an impulse buy. A CPU would need memory too, and so Natal would have cost maybe $100 or more.

Let's see if Natal lives up to the hype at E3. :)

  • natal is gonna fail dur to the reason that 360s core audience are fps heads and i dont think natal would support that. ofcourse there is a video demonstrating fps on natal, its actualy pretty funny and ambarrasing.

  • No there isn't Redrum :-). Natal has only been shown with 3 demos so far, which is the paint demo, the ball demo and the burnout demo.

    For FPS games, MS themselves says you wouldn't use Natal on it's own for a FPS, i.e. watch the following;

    /watch?v=qP3Lxtrm6qI

Note how at 1:33, he says Natal doesn't try to replace controller based games, and therefore you wouldn't want to play Halo Reach with your body (i.e. with Natal instead of the controller).

  • My apologies regarding a FPS with Natal, you were correct, I've searched and found the leaked footage of Natal with HL2. Although the video I've seen is low quality (including here on YT), and hence certainly not enough to say how well or not Natal works with HL2. But as a hardcore gamer myself, and to agree with Aaron in the link I provided, Natal is not going to replace the standard controller for such games, however we shouldn't be surprised to see some devs experimenting with Natal.

  • @MTMind2 no apologies neaded. im not bashing or enything as im more of a ps3 fan, but even though sony has stated using move on hardcore games i personaly dont care for it and think it looks rather stiff(get it?lol) im just not into motion cantrols and prefer regular controlers.

  • that's not natal lagging, it's just that there is a 3 frame pre-render (you change the pre-render on pc if you have the nvidia control panel). But i still think that natal will fail for the hardcore. the only thing i would want to use it for is tracking where i am looking on the screen by looking at my eyes. otherwise, it's a waste on a game console.

  • Natal will ultimately fail for hardcore gaming. It will become a peripheral for casual gamers in the exact same way the eyetoy was. I don't even think there ever was an eyetoy game that wasn't a party game or a little mini-game

  • I own the PS3 and the Xbox360, Natal Has done a great job at creativity, though I'm concerned a little with the limitations of the types of games you can play (as in FPS) maybe there could be hand or voice jestures you can use??? Though I think they might need a sort of handheld scheme for these type of games??? All in all, Im glad there's competition between PS3 and XBOX as it drives new technologies for us consumers....

  • microsoft is working on that but the Arc its gonna be amazing i think they´re tied but we´ll see that at E3 2010

  • This is so much more than the motion sensing of the Wii or the PS3 wand.

    An entirely different thing.

Sony saw the success if the Wii and simply coppied it. Microsoft have gone a stage further.

Doesn't meen it's perfect though, I'm very worried about that delay, but hopefully the finished product will have improved!

  • Well, to be honest the PS3 six-axis has motion controll, though of course not as prescise as the Wii remote... Sure they have improved upon the technology, but the PS3 eye comingles with the PS move and creates a new depth of gameplay on top of HD... As for Microsoft creating a new technology (take a look at the PS2 eye toy) it did a few joystick free games back then... Maybe someday the updated technologies from all companies merge and become the start of true virtual reality.....

  • Microsoft copied the Eyetoy, but added their own enhancements in th exact same way the PS Move is copying the WII. Everyone is guilty of it, it's just a reality

  • People just don't understand that that's how things have always been. Someone creates something and then someone else comes along and tries to make that something better.

  • Sony's issue is that they say they are sooo revolutionary, and in some cases, they are... And then they go and copy something that Nintendo made, I think 3 years ago, and say that it will change the way we game.

  • Sony presented a similar controller to the new one already in PS2 days for the EyeToy, they just never released it. Now after the success from the Wii they want some of that market too. But they copied nothing, they have this tech already since almost 10 years.

  • This shit is gonna blow so hard

  • Isnt this not due out for almost a year. cant be perfect yet.

  • @naphtha132x

    by Christmas this year.

  • @naphtha132x I've tried the system, as of today, the latency is worse than it shows in this video.

  • @naphtha132x : And it will never be, cuz microsoft makes it...

  • yeah but who would want to buy another controller that is extremely homosexuall an looks like a dildo.. the wii isnt all that responsive but it still sold more than the ps3..i have all the consoles but i believe i would rater have a little lag than holding a dildo in my hand pretending its a bat or whatever

  • plus no one is going to buy a ps3 for the wand because just about everyone has a wii. but people probably would buy an xbox 360 for natal because its different

  • this comment was a fail

  • That, literally, doesn't even make sense. You clearly don't grasp what "1:1" means.

  • ... alpha stages.... of course the final release is not gna be this slow, otherwise it'd wouldn't sell.

  • go dry hump a monkey

  • Microsoft better fix that problem by the time Natal comes out. Who wants to pay for something with so much lag time? If Natal won't have 1:1 tracking then Sony will end up winning with their dildo.

  • that doesn't seem fast enough.........now we get lag playing offline too?yey?

  • Me mola mas la demo de la espada y el escudo de la ps3 aunque lo ideal seria una combinacion de las dos cosas. Un tracking general del cuerpo, uno exacto de la orientacion de la mano y algunos botones o joysticks

  • Reminds me of the Eyetoy to be honest. I still say this sort of motion control is just a gimmick.

  • @Kekira Very true

  • this comment is a gimmick

  • LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG

  • @ReverseCycology, ur wrong so wrong :)-, by the way ps3 is also dev a kind of natal but it recognises single finger movements but dont tell anybody :-s

  • I wonder why I sold it for a PS3 then..hmm

  • fake y gay

  • La culpa es del tío que se mueve demasiado rápido para que Natal le de tiempo a captarlo.

Quizás es primo de superman awesome

  • Eh. They better fix the speed.

  • @Aloverssoulz

La culpa es del tío que se mueve demasiado rápido para que Natal le de tiempo a captarlo.
