I havent begun driving yet but it seems that with stop signs you only have to fully stop when there actually is something there that has the right of way, otherwise just a slowdown and check would suffice. @sixinthehood No, you're thinking about the yield sign. There you have to give way and stop if there's any traffic crossing your path, but at a stop sign you always have to come to a complete stop before you can drive again, no matter if there's traffic or not.
