I found the girl of my dreams and she has a slight accent like this (obviously not nearly this bad) but enunciates the letter O so bad that I just can't stand it. So, alas, she is nooooo longer the girl of my dreams. The last straw was when we were at a restaurant and she ordered chicken tac-oooooo's. And that was the end of the that.
Not even close- this isn't even a Maryland accent- for a "real" Maryland accent listen to the "Baltimore accents are hilarious video" that's the real deal
i always used to think that i'd never met anyone with the stereotypical baltimorian accent, but then i realized that i'm just used to the accent, ahaha
i love how ppl think that throwing in words from bmore or what some round here might say makes it an accent. talk bout somethign else and them see if you can do it! lol
i can here the accent more in blacks thn whites. i have a half bmore accent bcause i moved to al. i dont say dug or nuffin or badimore. i try my best to say words the correct way. there is such thing as an accent and saying words completely wrong. ive been made fun of by kids in alabama because i say bid instead of bed. now im self consious when i speak. thnk God i dont say dug. i luve bmore. i like the minnesota accent too
@Tamster107 you hear anybody in Alabama say 'dadgum'? i have relatives in Montgomery and my cousin used to say that. i think people down there prefer to say it rather than 'Goddamn'. lmao!!! ;)
I was born and raised(and still being so) in baltimore!!! Haha I go to school in owings mills and I get laughed at because of my accent instead of on(aw-n) I say oon Its funny Imma make a vid of my accent l8r
Now I was born and raised in DC; but when I went up there, the dialect was hard to get. For instance they pronounce "dog", "dug". I was overhearing a conversation and I heard someone say:" the dug bit him" I had to turn and ask why did Doug bite him. Their response was no the Dug. The what they was saying hit me. So I asked: "You mean dog?" they responded: "Yea, da Dug". And I said nothing further....
@JONAS43006 You hear it everyday on the new. And it's from all over MD. Also parts of PA. and DC. I live in Bel Air and there are lots of people here with that accent.
90% of the white people in baltimore can trace their roots back to appalachia. They moved by the hundreds of thousands into the city during the Great Depression. You still see the white trash hillbilly culture when you go to baltimore
I'm from England... and can I just ask what is 'funny' about this accent? It just sounds like a normal American accent. A funny American accent to me would be something like Italian-American-New York. You want to hear funny, look for an English Scouse accent ;D
Yea its a mix of northern accent and southern accent. I have lived in MD my entire life and the for the most part people speak with what i consider no accent. But there are the B-More accents and the slight southern accents in some areas. But for the most part they talk like most northerners.
born and raised B-more! hit the nail on the head!!!! and I love the comments that people in B-more do not talk like that??? are they High?? those people have never left their zip code. I moved 4 yrs ago and your on the money Hon!!

Sounds way too southern. I've never met anyone in Baltimore that sounds like that. listen to the "Baltimore accents are hilarious" video- that's right on the money

Yeah, ive realized the 'errors of my ways' since then. Im not really the type that goes into the City much. I'm from Catonsville, and part of the County culture, not the City culture. Not saying the City culture is bad, just that im not part of it. Not too many people in Catonsville have it, mostly in Arbutus though. And yes, go Ravens lol.
i love how he just turns it on haha. by the way, sounds nothing like philly. ive been to baltimore a couple times, never noticed anyone talkin like this. ive heard marylands a wierd state though, like theyre not sure if theyre south or not. again, i dont really know, but this is not philly. funny as shit though
Wow, as someone from Baltimore, Micheal Phelps represents the Baltimore accent the best. That just sounded like someone from out in the south or in parts of Texas, but not like a Baltimore accent lol Funny try though, ill give him that lol
I live in a place called Catonsville in Baltimore Country. I can literally see the city from my bedroom window. And about a quarter of the kids that go to my school are from the city. Trust me, that's not a 'dead on' accent. Not even close. And not many Baltimorean's even have the 'Baltimore accent'. Me for example, I have a slight one, but you can hear it. But it's not full fledged. Not many are. BIG stereotype people make about us though is with that accent.
Holy shit its the sound of Pigtown lol. Im from Curtis Bay (southside) and mad people talk like that there too. But for some reason I got more of a philly sound. But I was born and grew up in Baltimore. Just tells ya this city is pretty damn diverse.
i live in maryland and luckily i never picked this up, thanks to my parents being from Mass. most of my friends don't have this with the exception of two.
fuckn hillbillies, thats how half of the fucks sound around here, then you got the regular straight accents with a little bit of a twist, and the rest sound like an NY-Philly mix
Despite what you may think we are a southern city in a southern state that was put under martial law by the federal government ILLEGALLY so that Washington wouldn't be surrounded during the civil war. Anyone who Deny's this is stupid.
All of you who claim to live in baltimore and never heard this accent are obviously transplants from elsewhere. People like the yuppie idiots that have moved into fells point, canton, and federal hill.
It's not heard as much as it used to since all of the white working class families from fells point and canton moved out to dundalk and essex (where you are most likely to hear the accent nowadays). You can still hear it in hampden and highlandtown.
You're absolutely right, I was born in Canton and my family moved to Essex when I was still little. Most of the people I know have the Baltimore accent.

I grew up in Hampden and it's not an accent at all. It's called uneducated. People are priducts of their environment. They speak like the people around them. It they would have went to college the accent would have dissappeared.

um. were from the north bitch., and he doesnt sound anything like a person from baltimore. maybe southern maryland, but not baltimore. bitch. you probally have no idea where baltimore is.
I was born in Baltimore City and spent the early part of my childhood there. But no, I would know nothing about where it is. I have lived in the South for the last few years, hence "damn Yankees."
It has alot of Northeast qualities though. Even the accents arent Southern....I think once you go like 35 or 40 miles south of DC (where the carpool lanes end) is when you get into the real south....Richmond is probably the first real southern city you hit- well maybe Fredericksburgh, but that's not very big.
Yes I agree there. My family has been in Richmond for generations. But its ironic, because I go to Nashville and Atlanta- and those cities are hardly Southern at all compared to Richmond. Richmond has more of that Old South vibe to it- like Charleston or Savannah. Charlotte is not that Southern either, and in Florida anything south of Orlanda is pure yankee through and through. So geography doesnt always indicate culture.
No we're not. As my friend likes to say, we're the bastard child of the civil war. We're not yanks since we're below the mason dixon line, so the north doesn't want us; however we never succeeded with the south, so they don't want us, lol.
I never thought of it as the North either. I think really geographically its Mid-Atlantic city with some Southern qualities.
But DC is probably the first true Southern city you come to. Now that the north pushes further south though, Richmond seems to be the gateway. But I grew up in NOVA and that area is too transient to be Southern.
These guys are just joking around.
