People take this programme way too seriously. It's an entertainment show for charity. Get a grip everyone. Cherie Lunghi leaving the show is hardly the most tragic event of the year. James can put the blame on John all he wants but Cherie and him went out because the public didn't want them. John stayed in because the public wanted him to stay. But remember: people vote for the couple they consider the best to watch (the dance might be good quality, or good entertainment). By webly17s logic, the public should vote for the couple with the highest mark every week, as that would count as listening to the judges opinions on who the best couple is. That would be tedious.
John isnt a good dancer (being a dance competition, he should technically have been voted off), but people like to keep him in for the charm/fun of his dancing, and indeed personality. The opinions of the public and the judges are separate. The judges act as a guideline, and ideally, would be agreed with. But people enjoy a good show above all, and will vote in order to keep it a good show. This arguably renders the poor dancers as figures that exist merely to entertain.
However, some viewers wont exactly be thinking: ah, the footwork according to Len was poor I will therefore ignore my own positive impression of the dance. Or indeed I was underwhelmed by the dance, but Len said it was great I will therefore passively vote for it!
That wont happen. Its as simple as that. If the views of the public were supposed to agree with the views of the judges, there wouldnt be much point having a public vote at all.

He added the comedy and that fit Russian partner of his, brightened up a Saturday evening, they turned a normally boring programme into something worth watching, through the pure entertainment value John bought to the programme.
I luved the entertainment value of John, esp his stroppy teddy performance dragging his partner across the floor, as one of the kiddies said. I guess it was hard on the others, but again I ask the producers why they invite those type of people on the show in the first place??? Tom is my fav - I've only just decided that, I luv his attitude and he can salsa up a storm. John can leave with his pride...lol and his dance partner is amazing.

I love the show and thought John was fantastic, but what sort of world is it that this was the main story on the 6 o'clock news yesterday, and the sub news was about a young guy being murdered and about the little baby who got killed? I know the news should be a mix of good and bad, but this was not the most important event in Britain on that day.
Oh well, no more strickly for me as whats the point watching and backing someone only for them to give up and quit.

Reality just is. How it's handled shows good or bad. Isnt judging what's good or bad for others arrogant? Does swearing & dictating to others how to live make you happy? Is condemnation or compassion the way to spread happiness?
Would you deny a depressed person a chance to lift their spirits by watching something as beautiful as a dance by skilful spirited dancers - such as Kristina?
Get real yourself. Give all your money to feed the starving if you like but remember to smell the roses too.

Lets face it he may of not been able to dance but he still got the votes. He got these votes because he was entertaining and if you are going to give a vote to the public you have to realise that it will be about entertainment not just about the dancing. I blame the judges as they did the rounds on day time TV but instead of just plugging the show they were so rude about John and the public. With that said if the judges want all 100% of the vote lets give it to them no one should vote or watch!!

I heard that this show is being replaced with "Flyceleb", daytime T.V. presenters train for a week and then race against each other to single handedly deliver a 747 full of passengers from Heathrow to Moscow.
Or "Soapgoalie", soap opera stars replace premiership goalkeepers for six weeks to see who conceeds least goals. How about "Banal Shit", ex Big Brother contestants engage in a pile of banal.....well, you know the rest.

You're all wrong. It's not about fun and entertainment. It's about precious, priggish,thin-lipped, humourless prima-donna judges (and some dancers) who became a little sore, like all highly strung "artistic" pretenders do, that their authority was being diluted. The public were challenging their professional stuffiness and that's why the personal insults toward John started. They are a thin skinned bunch of 'luvee'sulks.

Disappointed that John quit. At the end of the day this is an entertainment show BUT it is also a dancing show. There have been many celebs who were not such good dancers BUT they stayed and entertained. At the end of the day it has always been the best dancer who has won. The judges are there to judge as they see and lets face it the man cannot dance BUT the public have their say too. He should have continued to entertain like other celebs in his position have done. Disappointed

He added the comedy and that fit Russian partner of his, brightened up a Saturday evening, they turned a normally boring programme into something worth watching, through the pure entertainment value John bought to the programme.

I luved the entertainment value of John, esp his stroppy teddy performance dragging his partner across the floor, as one of the kiddies said. I guess it was hard on the others, but again I ask the producers why they invite those type of people on the show in the first place??? Tom is my fav - I've only just decided that, I luv his attitude and he can salsa up a storm. John can leave with his pride...lol and his dance partner is amazing.
