I will be getting one of these once they re-release. Does anyone know if the Project 64 emulator will run on Pandora? And what is/will be the price for this to buy in the UK? Many Thanks.
You can use any USB controller for a computer; it is a computer, after all, and I think that it's 4000mAh battery will be enough to power a small thing like a game controller.
Radioshack has one on their shelves right now that looks _very_ suspiciosly like a PSX/PS2 controller.
awww another n64 emu which play basic titles. 12 years passed way and i never seen a good n64 emulator. im not expecting much from next version of project64.
I wanted to say that there no nintendo 64 emulator quality, it will never be possible. Even the first games of this system are not correctly emulated in any emulator for PC running on Windows or Linux or even the pandora. For example, even if you have a super computer you can not run games without losing frames or without losing interesting visual effects like banjo or mario kart. I think after so long, I believe that developers should give up.
Emulation is not full speed by definition. Although I doubt your eye, or even a high speed camera, could notice the difference if it was running on a supercomputer.
Go buy an N64 off of eBay if you are concerned about having the 100% experience.
You'd better hurry, they stopped manufacturing the N64 in 2002, and everything breaks eventually...
This is still neat, but I'll get a 3DS. The problem with this as I see it is I can't go downtown and buy one, and when I want something I'm never ever prepared to wait several months to get it. I pay more for things in stores rather than on ebay because I want them when I buy them.
@LPmeteora082 The good news is that one already have tried to make a opengl es version of minecraft and run it on a android phone. And it seems to run descent, So the possibility that it can run on Pandora is getting closer ;)
@CyrusLeaks exactly my friend. that's the only advantage to this thing. A better question is, do most people already own a laptop... yes. So why buy something you already own, its a glorified netbook.
Hello Man, I bought the Pandora, could you teach me how to play Zelda and other games on it? Where do I donwload the emulator and the rom? How do I open the roms with the emulator on Pandora?
@JulesBondTF2 - I'm sure there's some software for taking notes. You can type into a text editor or maybe someone will make a clone of Graffiti from Palm, so you can handwrite on it somehow.
People spend alot more on stupid things. Like iPhones. This can do everything better than an iPhone. (Except make phone calls, but then again, with full Bluetooth and WiFi, you could probably use internet phone systems, like skipe, just fine.)
I loved my GP2X, and can't wait to get my hands on one of these!

@VoidKeeper Half Life is for X86 PCs, and Pandora uses a different CPU design (Not Intel 386 based like Intel Pentiums , AMD or VIA ones ) . Quake 3 sources are open, so Quake 3 was "remade" from PC to Pandora .
@syst3m08 If Half-Life is an x86 binary then unfortunately you would have to run it in a virtual machine here. (The OpenPandora has an ARM-type processor, and so the instructions in a Windows Executable cannot be directly executed on the OpenPandora>)

Actually PSX runs full speed with sound. Currently there is a hiccup with the sound emulation, but that should be fixed soon! With dual analog controlls, this console can't be beat!
I cant afford this thing either! Well i couldnt really tell the actual size but i want something that i can make completely portable. If the commenter above me us is right it is DS size and that is not to bad. Hey, do you think a nd4 emulator would work on a ds?
Note that when they say it's the size of a DS, they mean the DS Phat, not Lite or DSi. And no, an N64 emulator will never work on the DS alone, not without some sort of additional hardware. The DS has a 66 MHz processor and a 33 MHz one, and 4 MB of RAM. Check the Pandora specs and you'll see it's much, much, much better suited for N64 emulation.
Wow... that was so original. If your going to insult someone, at least be original with your rants. At least then people won't hate you as much. And there is nothing wrong with being a nerd.
So about $432... hmmm I might actually buy it if I can see the emulator showing off more of the challenging N64 games. (Such as Banjo Kazooie/tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Mario party, Conker's bad fur day, mario tennis, ect)
Is there any plans to port version 2.0? Personally I think version 2.0 would fit the Pandora more. For one, there has been a lot of progress with Mupen64Plus, but also, 2.0 is modular and comes with an API, making it relatively easy to write your own frontend. That way someone could write a GUI frontend optimized for the Pandora. Also, I think the guys behind m64p would appreciate if it was possible to merge the two projects.
The most demanding games on the N64 make use of the memory expansion pak. Perfect Dark is probably the most demanding game on the console, that uses this pak. So if that game runs smooth, anything can.
Sounds like Jean Michel Jarre in the background or something off Synthersizers greatest hits. Wow the nipples... erm I mean Nubs only move 2mm wow, No matter how much I close my eyes and rub my own nipples it just isn't the same :(
Emulators won't be pre-installed, that's tricky legal territory. Emus (and all apps) are written by community / indie devs, and not owned by the Pandora team. :-) They're open source more often than not. This one in particular, is.
I recognized two of those, and haven't played any of them. I probably won't, as I never had a Nintendo 64. As for the second analog stick, no, I believe N64 only had one placed in the center of the controller. The second nub could be shown off in a game using separate aim and move controls, like Abuse or Zombie Apocalypse.
Good progress on the emulator, and thanks very much for showing this!
I will be getting one of these once they re-release. Does anyone know if the Project 64 emulator will run on Pandora? And what is/will be the price for this to buy in the UK? Many Thanks.

What version of Mupen64Plus is this based on? 1.5 or 2.0?
FearMyWreath 2 years ago 2
Version 1.5.
Surkow 2 years ago
Is there any plans to port version 2.0? Personally I think version 2.0 would fit the Pandora more. For one, there has been a lot of progress with Mupen64Plus, but also, 2.0 is modular and comes with an API, making it relatively easy to write your own frontend. That way someone could write a GUI frontend optimized for the Pandora. Also, I think the guys behind m64p would appreciate if it was possible to merge the two projects.

Please tryout Waverace64
that would be epic because it's probably the most performance demanding game on the N64
kinmanyuen 2 years ago
waverace? nah man perfect dark probably is
QPOproZaC 2 years ago 4
If it was so performance demanding, why did it not need the expansion pack that Perfect dark and others needed?
invisiblebears 2 years ago
The most demanding games on the N64 make use of the memory expansion pak. Perfect Dark is probably the most demanding game on the console, that uses this pak. So if that game runs smooth, anything can.

YESSSSSS!!!!!

Why is the music from Carl Sagans' Cosmos in the background?
Cla0016 2 years ago
What's up with the flickering thing in bottom-middle-left?
QPOproZaC 2 years ago
Nevermind. It's the cursor blinking. But another question: The emulator isn't running under X-Window but directly under linux shell?
QPOproZaC 2 years ago
He says the sound is turned off. I think he's just got some crazy techno in the background.
Also, WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT.

Sounds like Jean Michel Jarre in the background or something off Synthersizers greatest hits. Wow the nipples... erm I mean Nubs only move 2mm wow, No matter how much I close my eyes and rub my own nipples it just isn't the same :(

@CRaigX
Really looking forward to the Pandora, but I have one question:
Are they open source emulators, or does the OS come with certain ones?
sciences8 2 years ago
@sciences8
Emulators won't be pre-installed, that's tricky legal territory. Emus (and all apps) are written by community / indie devs, and not owned by the Pandora team. :-) They're open source more often than not. This one in particular, is.

Ah, thanks for the clear up. :)
Still gonna get one, because I really want to play my old N64 games, but my N64 broke (D:). Can't wait till full distribution starts.
sciences8 2 years ago
I recognized two of those, and haven't played any of them. I probably won't, as I never had a Nintendo 64. As for the second analog stick, no, I believe N64 only had one placed in the center of the controller. The second nub could be shown off in a game using separate aim and move controls, like Abuse or Zombie Apocalypse.
Good progress on the emulator, and thanks very much for showing this!

What about abrasion? Wear and tear is a problem for other game consoles, that's why there is need for dead zones and recalibration.
4K4K1K0 2 years ago
so... does the new version of the emulator fix the sound problem or whatever is the problem?, will be awsome to have this in... 2 months.
sweet vid craig, tho you should consider a tripod ;) or make your own with a office styled lamp arm thingy, cheap stable and mobile!
