I shed tears and maybe 3 animes and this ep was not one of them (Steins;Gate where Suzu finds her father [VN only actually], Chrno Crusade at the end and I think one manly tear at the end of Gurren Lagann). Hawever, this was damned sad I must say.

Point being that it get's to some more than others. Nothing wrong with not crying, nothing wrong with crying.

Man, FMAB is going at a much faster pace than FMA. They didn't kill Hughes until episode 25 in FMA.

@supersadiess Mhmm, that is one place where I prefer FMA over FMAB. In FMA when Ed can't use the prisoners is where Scar starts not wanting to kill Ed, in my opinion. It didn't seem as clear to me in FMAB where that turning point for Scar was. Just my two cents worth.

the manga came first, the first series of FMA anime started as an adaptation of the manga but when it caught up to it, due to the shows popularity the writers of the series went off with their own stories rather then wait for the source material. go look it up if you don't believe me

Given that theoretically this is a kid's action series like most shounen (One Piece, Shamen King, mass produced "Fighting Is Challenge Is Challenge Is Fighting" stuff), FMA has a LOT of intrigue and character-building episodes not focusing on fights.

Which is what makes it so fantastic compared to a lot of simpler shows that focus purely on the action.

I wonder if it's because it's mangaka is a woman instead of a guy?

It's amazing how Hughs finds out almost instantly what takes Ed, Al, and Mustang nearly the entire first half of the show to figure out, even though they all had access to the same information.

Hughs was an amazingly perceptive investigator.

When Armstrong said they had suspects but don't know who they are he's referring to the people with ouroboros tattoos. The reason he said he couldn't explain himself was because the Fuhrer ordered him not to speak about it to anyone but the Elrics, the LTC, the SGT., and the 2nd Lt. He cryptically mentioned the Elrics to fill in the Col. without disobeying orders from the Fuhrer

@Mashoenima Armstrong spoke in tongues because he's big on honor. If he had told Mustang directly he would have disobeyed the Fuhrer's orders not to talk to anyone. This is why he told the Col. he couldn't say anything about the suspects. He gave just enough cryptic advice for Mustang to understand the situation, but he didn't disobey orders. Mustang wasn't ordered by the fuhrer to keep quiet, and even if he was he cares less about honor, so he was completely clear on what he was telling Riza.
