  • Who cares about FPS bitches like CoD etc.

SNES FTW! Especially Super Metroid, my whole childhood, I miss times like this...

  • Do not leave the title screen on when you go to bed. Very disturbing nightmares, trust me.

  • @Bostonian91 lol so true :D

  • this creeps me out and I like it aha

  • It's not the same without the little metroid screeching in the background :/

  • I don't really think anyone will ever make a game as perfect as this, ever.

  • Comment removed

  • Why are they dead?

  • @FLUDDnerd The metroid broke out. Or Space Pirates broke in the capture it, hence why Ridley and the Space Pirates appear there..

  • bester metrois ever !

  • ahh, great memories. this was the first video game i ever played

  • Still my nr 1 favorite game of all time. With no doubt! It = plattform perfection to the bone.

  • the last other m is in captivity

    the franchise...is at peace.

  • that's the same song in zero mission when you are heading to tourian

  • The BEST!!!

  • Thanks for all the comments and views anyone. PLEASE, if you have ANY requests. I will take them! I love ALL video game music! I have over 1000 soundtracks! I will upload them, just ask!

  • @Noke0 what about Legend of Kyrandia 3 Hand of Fate. I know there is no official soundtrack.

  • @knotha Which songs in perticular. I have 40+ songs from the game itself.

  • @Noke0 I love the tracks from the first island. Especially the "Malcolm's Revenge (Kyrandia Night Music)"

  • One of the Best Games of All Time and the best Science fiction game I've ever played!

  • Can be easily consider the best game of all time

  • brelston

  • What has happened to gaming?

  • @CerpinTaxt37 Speak for yourself. This was arguably one of the best years ever for gaming.

  • @CerpinTaxt37

Microsoft, Sony, And other bullsh*t companies.

    Oh, and retarded little kids.

  • @CerpinTaxt37 It's all revolved around modern FPS games. It's what's getting kids drawn into videogames. You know the ones with straight linear levels and you can just breeze through them holding the trigger button down. Yes, I am talking to you CoD and Battlefield...Not that there is a problem with these games. I love them, just as much as Super Metroid, FFVI/III, SMW, CV, Chrono Trigger, Banjo, Megaman. But too see all these kids enjoying only one game. Cod or Halo...it's sad.

  • @Noke0 agreed. im gonna try to formulate that... one way or another... starting... i dont know when but it will happen. kids shall enjoy more then world war games.. they need something else then cod or halo.

  • @Noke0 i know exactly what u mean, cod and battlefield aren't bad games. kids just need to branch out more. it almost feels like modern fps' are representing videogames.

  • This theme was quite creepy the first time I heard it, gave me the feeling of emptyness of vast space and the unknown....... spooky!!!! 0.0

  • Let's face it. The Metroid series has the best title themes.

The sombre, dark one from Metroid Prime...

The irrisistably catchy one from Metroid Prime 2...

The epic, "this is it" one from Metroid Prime 3...

The creepy, atmospheric one from Super Metroid...

Even the classic one from Metroid NES deserves a mention.

  • @dividebyzero100 Even the classic one? The original Metroid title theme is at least almost as good as this one.

  • @mongorians22 True, true. I probably could have worded that better.

  • @dividebyzero100 Even Metroid 2 is good, with the Metroid Screeching noises.

  • Creepy as FOOK.

  • first time hearing it at 20 years of age. I shit myself and got scared the hell out of. Felt like there was someone behind me about to kill me.

  • Thank god for having an older brother that grew up in the snes and nes generation. I probably never would have any respect for these games at all or even wanting to play them. (I have played all the metriod games so far :) )

  • Whenever I hear this theme, I can hear my heart pumping!

  • I pity the dumb kids that are growing up with WoW and CoD.

They'll never be able to grasp what being a gamer really means.

  • @esideras I'm actually 13 but i love this game, its frigin'awesome!

  • @esideras I experienced WoW it was good. But nothing beats the SNES era!

  • all you need to do to know super metroid is an amazing, masterful beast of a game is watch and listen to this title theme.

  • can anyone say mother fucking classic? :D

  • From they day I knew this game existed and saw the trailers I wanted to play it. It was 1995 (in my country everything, even if it bombs, comes delayed). Damn what a great game.

  • If you stare at the Metroid long enough, it looks like it's floating up and down.

  • On halloween, At night i went to the powerbox so only the light switches in the house wouldn't work and invited my friends over....i then went to my computer and played this really loud....that was a good night :]

  • I'm legit scared

  • There was Super Metroid before Dead Space !!

  • I swear, i can still hear the chirping of the baby metroid...

  • I'm still scared of this game. And this chilling theme is one of the reasons why.

Probably the most perfect video game title screen of all time.

  • first game i played: super marios bros.

first game i really enjoyed playing: super metroid, man i used to have dreams playing as samus, well ofcourse in male form :PPPPP

  • too this day i still get chills

  • In response to the comments about re-releasing classics such as this game; There is no greater feeling than playing the original game on console, or even just a USB controller on an emulator, the feel is something you can't top.

I just bought a SNES and an N64 off eBay, super-cheap and in REALLY good condition! Playing games like this, Super Mario World, Mega Man X, Zelda - A Link To The Past on the Snes and Mario 64, Zelda - Ocarina of Time etc on N64 is truly an amazing feeling.

  • @FallenShortFilms Dude, you're right.

  • @FallenShortFilms It's mostly the nostalgia of it, I bet

  • @FallenShortFilms yep, i still got my N64 n I think I will never give it or sell it :P, its a relic to me, I wish my bro woudnt have sold his SNES -.-

  • @FallenShortFilms They are great. The only problem is I wish the N64 Joysticks were a little better. Mine have just worn down a bit and you have to hold up a little harder just to start moving faster.

  • i swear done no word of a lie everytime i played this game i would quickly push start the tune would scare the shit out of me and still when i play the snes i put this game on now and then and still kind of gives me that shock from young age. scary and also todays games are boring no offense to anyone got a ps3 and x box and wee there crap compared to these classic games.

  • I was 11 .. three dead bodies, a metroid chirping and this song in the tittle screen...nothing could be more scary and awsome... miss oldschool gaming, I dont know if its because I´m bigger but todays games dont do the same for me..

  • i honestly wish they made a old Metroid Collectors disc that has all the classics.... that would blow me away and make me finally get rid of the big gray brick currently sitting in my attic

  • AMAZING Game. Watched my buddy play through it, then he tricked me and got it for me for Christmas. Stayed in my room for a LONG time lol

  • Ages past and I still return to the Super Nintendo just to play this game and hear the music. Makes my skin crawl (in a good way)

  • It's not the same without Baby's chirps...

  • nothing can be darker

  • That little metroid sitting there creeps me out the most with this music. Its like he killed those scientists with his MINDDD!

  • *sits back smiling enjoying the music* I still got the game for SNES. and the 2 people who disliked this were either melted by Mother Brain, drained of their energy by metroids, OR they were possessed by the Ing... I love Metroid music It just has that Atmospheric sound to it that makes you want to just leave the game running in that one area just so you can listen to the music. Lower Norfair is a good example.

  • 0:24 Thubs up if this part sends Shivers down you spine

  • @UltraPrimus thats the magic number im looking for, im such a nub i put 0:27

  • only soul asylum from megaman x7 is creepier than this... thats the only game tune i know of that compares to this

  • 0:27 ish and after is like :O

  • I get chills everytime.

  • I've decided to create a dubstep album using video game music as my inspiration. Which games should I do? I'm thinking Metroid, Ocarina of Time, Chrono Trigger, and what else?

  • @Mrmtjones Some of the early Kirby themes are perfectly suited to dubstep. :) Also, what about something Genesis, like Streets of Rage 2 ("Go Straight" maybe) or Sonic (Marble Zone maybe)?

    Anyway, GL. :)

  • @Mrmtjones street fighter 2, for sure.

  • i just crap my pants...

  • Used to scare the hel out of men when i was a kid, now i just love it haha...This has to be one of the best games i played on my entire life, finished it so many times, as a kid on my snes to emulators on PC late on, was priceless to discover that the character we played in fact was a Woman (i tought it was a robot when i was a kid)...and i would still finish it again, such a masterpiece.

  • i hear samus breathing

  • I played this when i was 5 in the dark and when i heard this I almost shit bricks, scared out of my fucking mind.

  • The corpses on the ground have had their brains extracted from their body!

  • START START START oh wait, im not playing the game

  • goddam this theme was scary when I first heard it :D

  • lol blood in early nintendo

  • One of the best title themes I have ever heard :)

  • No one ever mentions the dead bodies to the sides.

  • @CoruptedCorupter I actually never noticed what those were til I read your comment. Shit's crazy

  • @CoruptedCorupter Especially not the lady with pretty pink hair.

  • @CoruptedCorupter first thing i noticed

  • @CoruptedCorupter Not just dead, but pretty mutilated.

  • There is nothing wrong with your television. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are now controlling the transmission. We control the horizontal and the vertical. We can deluge you with a thousand channels or expand one single image to crystal clarity and beyond... The Outer Limits

  • The metroid series has plenty of scary parts in it to qualify it as a horror game.

Even in the Prime series, plenty of parts freaked me out. In Prime, there was the research lab in the dark with metroids everywhere, basically all of prime 2, the xenoresearch lab in prime 3 in skytown (the place with the seeker missiles), and the Valhalla. Though they pale in comparison to this game....

  • I remember the third one man. I loved that game

  • in the beginning sounds like the spore spawn's theme

  • ooooohh... I just beat this game for the second time, but this theme never ceases to frighten/amaze me. Whoever came up with this is a genius.

  • Sounds just like something you'd hear in the movie "Alien".

    Honestly.

  • Less is more with this theme.

  • 0:23 my friend always jumps me at that part and i almost shit myself everytime

  • seriously... the Metroid series is Nintendo's version of Resident Evil. Not even lying.

  • See, I'd agree that Super Metroid was the scariest Metroid game, but I can't say so. I will say it's one of the best, but in scariness, it pales to Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The Ing were some scary shit to an 8 year old with a Gamecube. I'm still afraid to play it at night, or fight the Ing alone in a room.

  • @CorvusSprites Oh the memories, when I was 8, and I did Prime 2, I saw my first ing and... kinda crapped myself. :P

  • First time seeing this and I am alerady scared a bit.

  • Best game for Super Nintendo, bar none.

  • Such a great theme, and that's all that needs to be said.

  • such an old game and it creeped me out so much i was never even able to get the morph ball and i still cant play it saw my brother play it sometimes and what scared me a lot was mother brain and the timed escape for such an old game this is pure epic of scaring the crap out of me

  • The 6 scariest and most memorable notes in Gaming.

  • Where is the metroid? It just doesn't soud right with out it.

  • This song makes me sad when I hear it... It seems as if someone is dying throughout this theme... and dies near the beginning and someone is very upset around the end.........

  • I want an extended version of this

  • @helmiveli All you have to do is download it off the Virtual Console, select it as if you were going to play it, and stare at the title screen.

  • @evilisbliss excellent! thanks for the tip :p

  • I want my memory of this game erased so i can play it and enjoy it again.

  • @liquidus2172 I know exactly what you mean, but this game especially is hard to forget...

  • @liquidus2172

    Get Metroid Redesign and Icemetal

  • 2 people are going to get a blast from samus laser!!!

  • Remember when you were a kid and at night, your bedroom became a room full of werewolves, vampires and every other horror your mind could make out of shadows? That and Super Metroid share this as their theme song.

  • Many a day of my fourth year of life has been spent shitting myself to this song. Good times.

  • When I was a kid the Metroid games would always give me nightmares

One of the reasons why was the music

  • I almost shit my pants when I heard this theme when the game was new haha

  • REMAKE this game!

2d, ds version or something, epic game!

  • look at the dead bodies on the floor.

  • if you play this in the dark you will see things

  • I really would love for the metroid series to be carried out through a series of films...that would be the complete collection of all that is metroid:)

  • This game scares the shit out of me.

  • @slimshady0297

yeah one of the first horror games

    like 2D dead space

  • @Ankylosaurus705 2D Dead Space...

Now that sums it up perfectly. ^_^

  • @Kyuubi424

BLASPHEMER! Dead Space is wannabe-Metroid in 3rd Person!

  • @bjorne616 Hey, don't yell at me! Ankylosaurus705 up there is the one who mentioned it! XD

But, you do make a good point. There was Metroid, then there was Dead Space. They're fairly incompairable in a lot of ways.

  • Too epic for me ... i just got goose bumps in 3:03 mins

  • i wish every game had music as epic as this one did.

  • it's not same without the metroid chirping

  • very dark version of the theme....love it!

  • @Mysterio4981

this is actually the original snes theme

  • @astagohai well I think he meant the original as in the NES version.

  • By far the scariest metroid game

  • I LOVE THIS!

Reminds me of when I was around 13 years old or so... good gaming times hehe :P

  • I remember almost shitting myself, because I was so scared by the music when I first played this and I was about 10 years old....

  • Ah, I remember when I first played this game years ago. I still have the SNES and the cartridge in my room. This game used to scare the shit out of me when I was little.

  • First time I played this game, this theme came on and I was immediately silenced! I knew this game was deep and nothing to fuck around with. One of the best games ever made.

  • @sugacookiegetta Nope, THE best game ever made.

  • @sugacookiegetta 100% agreed. This game is amazing. Music is very serious and it puts gamer in a right mood. I had souch a good experience with this game that i naver had before. I tottaly love this game just like castlevania 4.

  • Nah... Its too good to be dead space

  • Super Metroid is 16-bit...^^

  • its almost like it could be a theme used for dead space or something. but yeah super metroid is an epic game for the snes. and just an epic game in general

  • the best scarry theme song ever ...i won't look back ....it too scared

  • Best video game title screen ever.

    period.

  • Sometimes I wonder why I bothered to buy more games after playing Super Metroid. Then I realize there were other Metroid games to enjoy, so I shake it off. But I still have my SNES just for this game and this game only. Everything else I sold off. But -no one- touches my Super Metroid but me.

  • The chirping of the baby Metroid made me want to go and save it. It felt to me like it was saying, "save me!" You really felt an emotional connection with the baby Metroid thanks to this title screen and also his chirping if you died.

  • this song is amazing and that title sequence will be in our hearts forever, but i also think i heard a guitar version of this very song or similar while watching Lost... i wasnt even thinking of metroid, it just clicked

  • This is song is... Creepy !

  • bring back this game remake

  • anybody have any idea where i can find a metroid 'scree' sound effect? im creating a remix of a whole bunch of metroid themes and i think a 'scree' would perfect it!

  • this song is scary as hell@!

  • 15 years after playing it I still get goosebumps whenever I hear this tune.

  • @tttc With you there man, one of the best games ever made. And music that was beyond its time, in quality anyways.

  • @tttc Same here.

  • I think I...

    I think I just crap'd myself

  • and it makes it even more creepy just looking at the picture with 3 dead guys and 1 living perfectly fine metroid

  • SCARYIEST SONG FROM SNES!!!!!!1 by far

  • That picture right there scares me

  • i prefer metroid 1 theme, more classic

  • man this would rock orchestrated.

  • I saw them do it live at Videogames Live. it kicked ass. they started with a midi version then went into the orchestra.

  • I love it!

  • Best opening ever!

  • oh of course, Silverwing

  • Super Metroid theme is to video games as the Halloween theme is to horror movies. (anyone agree?)
