Eveyone keeps talking how today a replica of Jupiter 8 would be north of $10K.. Let me tell you from experience. In 80's a transistor was a dollar, today we stuff millions of them on a chip and sell them for 30 bucks or less. Components are cheaper wether they are active or passive, they cost much less than in 80's so the argument of what would it cost today and no one would buy it are misguided. If one wanted an exact copy of Jupiter 8 today in parts $400 plus chassis.
Well, maybe Roland will wise up and issue a little brother to the Jupiter 8 that is geared towards die hard Jupiter 8 lovers. 61 keys with a similar layout as the Jupiter 8 has. They can sell a ton of these under $2,000.00. Sometimes forward thinking isn't always the way to go in regards to trying to reproduce acoustic sounds. How about working hard to reproduce some of the best synth sounds of the past and bundle those into one unit? Geeeeeeesh! They should have hired me toget it done!!!
wow!! pretty rainbows!!! doesnt even sound close!!!!!! why make a fake ass jupiter?
you would think they would have made a real hybrid!!! hey!! lets make a fantom to look like a jupiter 8 without any controls==============fail fail fail!!!!!
its obvious they havent been paying any attention to whats really going on!!
looks like they've mixed a fantom with a Vsynth and added pretty lights to it and stuck Jupiter 80 on the rear panel. rather it just be complete analogue like moog with their voyager and little phatty etc analog gear is still going strong on things like ebay, there is still a huge market for them. Still nice that they've even had a go at it.
There is a big difference between analog and analogue EMULATION. Please, Roland--SCRAP this thing. Build it like they do at Moog with real transistors and make. it. analogue. again. Making it pretty with the Jupiter name and colors doesn't warrant at $3500 price tag. It's just a VSynth wearing a Jupiter dress.
But it's not really a Jupiter! It's similar to the guts of a Fanthom or V-Synth, not analog anything, just painted like the real deal. It's an imposter!
blar blar blar blar.....just play the bloody thing!

It appears someone has never heard of the Roland JP-8000. 49 keys but oh well
VisceralVoids 11 months ago
@VisceralVoids Yes I have heard of it smart ass, and it sounds like a toy. Also, 49 keys do not interest me, maybe you, but not me.
