  • @ript2damaxx do you know the meaning of irony?

  • Comment removed

  • Its not hard to have Hendrix guitar tone.... all gain no gate gross fuzz garbage.. thats why only him can pull it off.

  • But the Hendrix series is very expenive right? like 150 bucks for each pedal?

  • @creeperVSme That's actually a pretty decent price for pedals.

  • I have the red one and totally love it.

  • beide sind so cool, welchen soll ich mir denn kaufen????

  • they dont work with adapter right?

  • @normalsigara no but you can modify to be capable of a 9v adaptor

  • The great thing about the Jimi fuzz (I have them both) is that when you roll the tone knob on the guitar all the way back the fuzz thickens and sounds HUGE!

  • jack black?

  • the jimi has silicon transistors, and the red one has germanium

  • all the vintage mojo the easter bunny can give

  • was not ready for that sustain!!

  • I'm a blues guitar player, and I really hate fuzz distortion.

  • @LakicGuitar ok for you. so don't watch this video

  • @oclero no, I'm not critisizing the video. The video is awesome... I'm just trying to figure out why don't I like it.

  • @LakicGuitar so u watched this why?

  • @LakicGuitar if you roll down the volume you can get some great slightly dirty tones, or dynamic clean tones Hendrix would often do that to achieve some amazing clean tones

  • Maybe my hearing is going bad, but there isn't a whole lot of difference between the two. Perhaps the red one has a little more clarity?

  • @jjulch i thought that the red one had a bit more of a fatter sound.

  • Bad bad sound!!! waste time

  • it seems to me that the red one is much brighter and doesn't color the sound of the strat at all right ???

  • I feel like the Hendrix one has more of a mid-range cut to it when he's playing those lead type parts. But I think I'm more partial to the wooliness of the red one

  • I don't hear a big difference. Witch one do you prefer?

  • We're waiting for the reincarnation of hindrix...just waiting. we know your somewhere. hoping someone else will save us from the corporate bullshit. ;D

  • i don't get it, what do you mean is tough to use in a live situation? and how does your tone dissapears? i really didn't heard this before, i would like to know more. Cheers!

  • Hey Gearmandude could youdo a comparison between the Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face and Fulltone 70? Because they both claim to exactly replicate the original silicon Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face.

  • They both look like, faces!

  • hey gearmanndude i like yer shoesies on yer footsies. a little under the weather on this one?

  • what?! no pit viper boots ?

  • They sound the same

  • @parosite the turquoise one is thicker; the red one is dirtier- based on how he set the two of them. at least, that's how it sounds to me.

  • that hendrix fuzz face screams

  • if you enjoy playing songs by Pink Floyd and bluesy things and you had to pick one pedal for fuzz, would it be one of these fuzz face pedals or one of the Electro Harmonix Muffs?

  • @paulgaudinjrBCN for pink floyd it would be a big muff. but for hendrix and other blues rock things i would say fuzz face. u have to try them in person to really decide.

  • As always another to the point fantastic comparison. . .

  • haha i did not remember your channels name so i searched "Jack Black demo" and i found you :D

  • if i want to get a very warm sustaining sound, should i get the big muff pi or the hendrix fuzz face ???

  • can the dallas arbiter fuzzfaces be powered by an ac adapter?? or just with batteries??

  • @Musicman1413 they do have an AC adapter, don't have a link handy, but a little searching on the internet will bring it up for you

  • @Musicman1413 The AC adapter is ok to run with the silicon fuzz but it can do some damage to the germanium transistors.

  • @telefan82 Does this apply to all germanium pedals, because I run my Zvex Fuzz Factory on AC.

  • @gazzbryant It only applies to PNP germanium transistors such as traditional fuzz face pedals (NKT275's or AC128's) where as if you run AC127's or something like that which are NPN transistors then you shouldn't have any problems. There are guys out there who make a circuit that can reverse the polarity in a PNP throught the circuit so that you can run a power supply with those sweet NKT275's.

  • It's all bullshit!! I have all Hendrix equipment and I don't sound like him!

  • @ArikBulldog lol

  • @ArikBulldog I think the Hendrix sound is fuzz face and plexi, 50/50, due to the use of his guitar volume alltime

  • @ArikBulldog Lol. Same here. I went out and bought everything he uses.. I guess i'm gonna have to take lessons now..

  • @ArikBulldog Thats a joke right? Its waaaaaaaay more about your hands and how tight you hold the guitar then anything else. Plus like I always say, hendrix and gilmour didn't use the GIlmour Strat or the Hendrix strat or the Hendrix Marshall. No they used a Marshall plexi 100 with KT88's or HIWATT 100 watts with regular fuzz faces. They used regular Fender pickups. Its all about how YOU play. If SRV came back to life and picked up my Les Paul through a bassman he would sound like SRV.

  • @ArikBulldog perhaps bcos you don't play like him, then you don't know his eq settings and all, and perhaps you're not him?

  • @ArikBulldog because u gotta play like him.... no one will ever sound like him... the closest was stevie ray... but he was his own player

  • @ript2damaxx it was a joke idiot

  • @ArikBulldog it should match live tones cause you gotta have right pickup right tone, right volume and right mix between the pedals, and the right feelin so just keep at it and it should sound fine

  • @ArikBulldog also you've probably had the shit beaten out of you for this just cuz something says hendrix doesn't mean ur gunna get his tone. if you want your tone to sound like hendrix then go do research on his rig pick up his pedals, amps, guitar/pickups. all the kinda jazz

  • I have that same model red fuzz. it sounds A LOT better than the crap fuzzes they were putting out in the 90's, but it does have NKT275's, which are hella unreliable (especially in a hot jam pad on a summer day). Also, the PCB means if it breaks, that's it. Gotta get a new one. Ge transistors usually put out a harsher sound, esp when you roll back the volume just a hair. The blue silicon tone is all smooth and rounded. Either one is a keeper.

  • @ByrdWhiteMovie i think you have that backwards. pretty much everything ive read on fuzzfaces say the germanium ones have a slightly smoother sound than silicon, which i agree with. but honestly, its pretty slight. you are right though that they arent as reliable and can change tone with temp changes. so far i havent noticed too much change but i havent really played in a hot place. the good thing about these reissues is that they have two trimpots inside that you can use to tune them.

  • This dude sounds alot more like Christian Slater than Jack Black

  • @eb0larama I didn't know Christian Slater could shred

  • You know whats fucking lame? that Jimi Hendrix had a red fuzz face but his signature pedal is in grey :S

  • does someone know which fuzz duane allman used?

i just know that he used a dallas arbiter fuzz face,

but was his fuzz made with a silicon transistor, or with germanium transistors?

  • I actually like them both. They're very evenly matched I'd say, so I can't really say which is better.

  • May I ask what's your Amp setting and the rest.

Even with out the Fuzz the sound still kick ass

  • Even with out the Fuzz the sound still kick ass

  • you've got a hellacious vibrato gearman!

  • ok I am now saving up for a fuzz face!

  • @LoudnProud42 thanks, ill play em both and see what sounds best with my rig, i usually run my standard tele through my upgraded hot rod deluxe, and my board.

  • So... which one should I get??

  • @dudewithagtr get the hendrix, most germanium tansistors sound bad so only one out of five or ten will sound good. Silicon is harsher, but more reliable.

  • I like these pedals but they wont fit on my pedal board. And I like the size of mine :P

  • The blue one has a little more hair around the note. Not sure if I like it better or not.

  • I like jimi one best !

  • the jimi one sounds warmer, and the red one sounds a little harsher. so obviously the jimi one, YEAH, JIMI

  • That's Jack Black!!!

  • I like the red one better

  • "Here's a clean sound, uneffected" - GREAT WALL OF REVERB APPEARS!

  • the Jimi one does sound more even and tame, but the red sounds more authentic and would better suit someone who isnt a pussy :P

  • the Hendrix one. more evened out levels.

  • The regular red one sounds more like the Hendrix tone and the blue one does not, even though they named the blue one as the Hendrix model. What kinda R&D did Dunlop do?

  • so...would security jump you if you tried to take this on a plane?

  • Hey Eric, can you you do a comparison of these with the Joe Bonamassa Fuzz Face?? Thanks Dude!!

  • what batteries are in the pedals?

  • @ejSignStrat The same as in 99.99% of pedals out there - 9volts. Google?

  • @leonkennedy74what brand dude? From what I know Eric Johnson says that different brands make pedals sound different

  • @ejSignStrat Brand of what, battery? The only difference that would be present from battery to battery would be the chemical composition of the acids, but honestly, unless you're comparing a vintage style battery such as the Danelectro batteries, an Energizer should sound about the same as Duracell.

  • @ejSignStrat On the issue of components, they really shouldn't sound different regardless of the branding so long as the components are the same. When you look at vintage pedals, such as the early Big Muffs, the component values would vary unit to unit, so two units made side by side on the same day of the same year might sound different. Now, on that note, because of the nature of electronics, there can be... very slight differences between components, which is why EJ goes through 20 units...

  • the jimi hendrix one sounds better

  • why is the hendrix signature blue? when the one he had was red?

  • @jarekuXhide probably so you can tell the difference

  • Comment removed

  • the hendrix sounds more bad ass to me, but now theres the joe bonamasa one, so im gonna have to do more thinking

  • i still say fuzzboxes are for guys who want the rest of the band to hate them! they should be called noiseboxes!

  • IMO, the modern fuzz face (the red one) has a more badass tone cuz its just a bit deeper..i almost cried when the lick from Slight Return was played :'D lol

  • dissident!

  • @blackjack - dude you got it all mixed up- the jimi fuzz uses bc108 npn silicon transistor while the red one uses germanium NKT 275 transistor

  • WE KNOW ITS YOU JACK BLACK!! SHOW YOUR SELF!!

  • @axis1250 ok , i'm not sure if is him ... but is the same fucking voice !!!!!

  • @axis1250 amen dude

  • At least you always seem to have your shoes on when doing demos ;) Way to go :) You usualy get to see guys with white, streched out socks on. I dig you demos btw.

  • lol 10 dislikes = people who don't have a fuzzface pedal

  • you sound like jack black

  • @yahoochiewatchie He IS Jack Black

  • I wana see the guts of the Z! please

  • fuzz face or super fuzz?

  • @brynendas no he only used the octavia in the studio and at the filmore east when he performed with band of gypsies he never liked to use the octavia live because he was afraid it would be stolen

  • Very informative. Thanks for taking the time to do this vid!

  • The only 2 things I don't like about the FuzzFaces are, there's no jack to constantly power it, and the input and output jacks are reversed, which makes it awkward on a pedalboard.

  • i'm looking in to buying a fuzz face, the guy who's wanting to sell me one wants 75 euros (aprox 85$) for it.

he said he bought it 20 years ago, the weird thing is, it doesn't have the "smiley mouth" logo thing under the switch. anybody got any idea what i'm looking at here?

  • thumbs up if u think he sounds like jack black :)

  • Preferring the Red one here!!

  • you kind of sound like jack black

  • Dear gearmanndude and others! Ive been having problems with my fuzz face (red one) lately. The local guitar expert says that I need a buffer for it to work properly - in any case if I dont want it as the first pedal in the line. He says that it only works if it is the first pedal - that it cannot cope with the output impedans of my wah or my overdrive. Do you have a solution? Or is there simply something wrong with either one of my pedals? I would gretly appreciate some help. Thanks.

  • @guitarmikkel change the 8.2k resistor to 18k, the 470ohm to 1k, and the 1k linear pot to 2k. this allows you to run a wah in front of it, but fuzz faces don't like buffed pedals either way. and if you run an overdrive, run it AFTER the fuzz.

  • the boss fuzz pedal sounds better

  • @TheShawster99 hahah! nice!

  • would the red one sound good with a big muff pi?

  • @angusyoung98 why would you have both

  • @nymetsrock because the big muff is thicker and with more gain, while de Fuzz face has more clarity and more singing tone

  • @angusyoung98 I'm not sure, but I imagine it would probably be very noisy!

  • nice tone with or w/o pedals .. but especially with

  • sick sustain on both hahaha

  • dunloptifuzz

  • good demo sir!

  • Are you Jack Black haha?

  • I believe both have silicon transistors. The difference I could notice is that maybe the red one sounds more midrangey

  • Actually the sound of the amp without the pedals eganged sounds more like Jimi!

  • @Danthehorse Sounds more like Jimi when he didn't used, yes. He actually used fuzz to empower some solos and notes, well we have the case of purple haze which I believe is almost constant fuzz.

  • @The50s60srocker You decide, if you are looking for a specific sound, only you can achieve that sound.

  • has anyone ever told you, you sound excatly like Jack Black?? XD

  • whats better germanium or silicon?

  • Dude........where are your fricken boots??

Those shoes suck the tone man and they are not true bypass.

  • they look like anti-tank mines.....lol

  • @Blckspawn0 that's their second feature

  • @Blckspawn0 lol

  • @Blckspawn0 9V battery (only) anti tank mines...

  • I believe the blue one shown is a silicon one, contrary to what GMD says. I think the two models shown are the JHF1 (blue) and the JH2F (red). The latter is a germanium.

  • JACK BLACK ! +1

  • 2:22-2:45

    Pearl Jam- Dissident?

  • Where do you get the pedalboards you use? btw great demo videos!

  • I'm pretty sure the guys name is Eric Whorton. Who sounds similar to Jack Black. I mean I could be wrong but I have my doubts of him being Jack Black. Either way I love the reviews

  • that strat sounds awsome., sounds like my jimmy vaughn. what pup's are in that?

  • great review!

  • will the standard red one sound good through a solid state amp

  • @Guitar1hero23 I'd say no, but only in my honest opinion. I think Fuzz Faces sound awful without some tube distortion following. But that's not to say it isn't worth a try! Try it out at your local dealer, they all have these pedals :)

  • @Ombrenuit thanks for the advice!

  • hey man, which one would you choose the hendrix fuzz face or the octavio?

  • he sounds like jack black!

  • @MadBass95 ..........he is jack black

  • @MadBass95 i was just about to comment that haha

  • Cool Demo. Thanks!

  • wish ya had some 67 to 70 fuzz face arbiter to compare to the new ones.

  • MW FUZZYTONE, probably the cheapest yet most versatile boutique fuzz pedal in the U.K

GET THAT HENDRIX / MAYER / SRV TONE

    SEARCH FOR FUZZYTONE ON YOUTUBE

  • octavio jimi hendrix fuzz is much better

  • Man, to me they both sound really ugly. I'll stick with my big muff triangle.. I guess if you want to sound like Jimmy it's great but otherwise it sounds terrible to me. :/

  • its like the red one is more articulated in the notes.

  • jack black.

  • If you want some real fuzz, go for Fuzzy lady or zvex fuzz factory

  • The blue one sound more dirty, prefere it. but if i had to buy a fuzz it will be the analog man bc 108

  • BLAH! We all know snakeskin/alligator boots give any pedal...real bite!

  • They sound exactly the same!

Dunlop just stuck the Hendrix name on there to make some quick cash

  • @CCRockit there really is only the tiniest difference. i think its a sham too

  • what kind of shoes are you wearing? awesome vid.

  • the red one is better.

  • i think this sounds ideal for some stooges. anyone agree?

  • @PAULisDEADMANnumber9 you the stooges guitarist never used a fuzz, even though it souns like it. he plugged straight into a vox ac30

  • its jack black again

  • @jawoimano hahah omg it does sound like him!

  • the red one looks happier, so the red one wins

  • I can't believe you didn't turn them both on at the same time.

  • @timfloodmusic

yep, put em on a chain. billy gibbons once mentioned that he used to chain two together, then he saw jimi put 5 together.

must get kinda muddy, like wild thing maybe?

  • Best Demo's on Youtube Period!!

  • I own a JDF2 ( the red one). Please don't buy this pedal its very very muddy and does not mix well. Its also very bad with Fender amps. Buy the JH1 instead (blue one).

  • I prefer the blue version, because it has a higher gain and the tone is more acid...

  • dude what kinda of wire are you using?
